  1. So, the connection of the current Lavalin — Librano scandal may make a full circle back to the Chretien era Librano scandal. Bonokoski, in the Sun: https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/bonokoski-why-is-trudeau-seemingly-standing-up-for-snc-lavalin talks about the conviction of one Michael Fournier who was the head of the Federal Bridge Corp. Well, guess who appointed Michel, not Michael, Fournier to the top of the Federal Bridge Corp.? Jean Chretien. Apparently, the RCMP are bringing 4 more charges. Yeha! Same old Libranos.

    1. “Same old Libranos.”

They are what they are, they can’t help it, it is in their nature. Get rich shoveling bull$hit, that’s the Librano way.

    2. Kate;

Is there gonna be a ‘Name the Scandal’ contest?

      How about: Justin’s Diversity Disaster?

    1. “SNC-Lavalin’s biggest shareholder is the Caisse de depot (et placement du Quebec), who’s CEO was on the panel that advised the Federal Liberal Government to set up the Canada Infrastructure Bank, whose only investment so far has been in the Caisse de depot’s light-rail project in Montreal, which is being built by SNC-Lavalin. It’s a little close in here. Someone open a window…”

    1. Good heavens! The last time I heard anything from them was more than 30 years ago when I used to listen to the BBC World Service’s Top 20 while I was still active as a shortwave listener.

I thought they became a “whatever happened to….” act. Then again, I gave up on pop music when I discovered classical music CDs in the early 1990s.

      1. Indeed, about 30 years ago. Can’t even recall what it was because all their songs sound the same.

        1. And each song about equally as irritating: “Let’s make lots of moooooooneyyyyy!” Aaargh!

          1. I remember them doing a cover of “Go West”, but they added a verse to it or something with the reasoning that The Village People were not gay enough.

  2. Speaking of “babe”, it’s ironic that one of Sonny and Cher’s iconic songs is “I Got You, Babe”.

It’s ironic because Sonny married Cher when he was 34 years old and she was 17.

    “I Got You, Babe”, indeed.

    1. Then she dumped him, he hit a tree playing ski-football and died, and she became a superstar. The song should have been named “I got this, Babe” and sung entirely by Cher. Sonny couldn’t sing AND he was ugly. Happy Valentines Day everyone!

      1. Cherilyn Sarkisian or Cher or Che as one wag called her used Sonny Bono to get what she wanted; fame and fortune.
It was Sonny who introduced her to Phil Spector who gave her the start in show business.
It was Cher’s idea to use Sonny as part of the act because she suffered from stage fright and she said looking at Bono as she sang helped combat her nervousness.

        1. Sonny also wrote most of their hits. Cher wasn’t all that attractive back then. I suspect she had major facial excavation work. There are probably a million Americans who sing very well but there are maybe a couple hundred stars. There is a limited connection between talent and success.

  3. How about the haunting, “My Funny Valentine “? A Roger’s and Hart show tune recorded by Frank Sinatra or the iconic version of Chet Baker?

Ella did it as well but it works best when a guy sings it to his gal.

  4. Well at least our environmentalist prime minister addressed the most important issue facing Canadians. Yesterday he burned jet fuel to Sudbury where he explained that Doug Ford is evil and is destroying the environment in Ontario. Only Justin’s carbon tax can save us.

  5. The Toronto Star is excited that a First Nations group in Alberta is taking Big Chief Justin’s side in the carbon tax court case. They will argue that climate change is destroying their way of life. No jokes please.

    1. Is this the same First Nations Chief who won’t allow elections until after his death? Chief for life?

    1. So Justin’s policy of recruiting black, lesbian, muslims, in wheelchairs isn’t working out?

    2. Shortage?? That’s because their recruiting system is seriously frigged up. You have to work hard for about a year to get in. Twice my son tried to join the military. He is a big tough bright kid. Hell of a football player. After months he never got to talk to anyone. He just got to select positions online which were perpetually filled. He was open to pretty much anything. His dad told him he didn’t really want to be an infantryman. He told me Navy hull technician looked interesting and I suggested that scraping, painting, and swabbing the decks wasn’t all that appealing. He got a decent oilpatch job and it all ended. A year later he was unemployed and went through the same process. It’s hard work getting a job for the military. If they want recruits, sign up the first person who walks through the door who isn’t a retard. How hard is that?

      1. ah yes, the great CDn militaire.
when recruiting age got bumped up back in the mid 80s, it gave me a chance to get into the reserve, my qualifications:
        – post secondary education,
        – did a parachute jump,
        – firearms experience,
        – scuba qualifications incl ice diving,
        – strong as a goddamn bull,
        buuuut . . . . . .
Im convinced the local honcho put out an unwritten directive that regardless of any new age limits, HE didn’t want any old timers mucking up his plan for ‘whatever’.

  6. I wounder how this contract got awarded.

Ottawa) Canada’s 227 million dollar fleet of Hero Class CG cutters (137′ long, 23′ beam) roll “like crazy” making crews seasick and keeping the boats in port during weather conditions in which they should be able to operate.-CBC News reported.

  7. Drilling companies continue to move rigs from Western Canada to southern United States

“You have to follow the capital and go where the work is,” said Western CEO Alex MacAusland.

“I expect our peers will (move rigs south) as well. It’s just not sustainable with the current pricing environment.”

Thank you PM Butts and your sock puppet.

  8. NY veteran policeman dies in “friendly fire” incident yesterday.
Would be mighty coincidental if he was one of the investigators of the Wiener Debacle.
The news report sounded like an organized hit, disguised as a complete cluster F**k.
