We follow with our usual mix of stories: OPEC either to boost or cut production; record profits for BP; natural gas in the US, Argentina and Chile; coal in the US, Australia, Germany and Spain; nuclear in Japan and China; the IPCC’s anti-nuclear bias; Germany plans more wind & solar tenders; EVs as energy storage batteries; renewables and the UK budget: Scottish Power goes 100% wind; an energy-saving cooling system, solid fuel from sewage and what climate change will do to Glasgow.
Scottish Power is going 100 percent wind. I guess the ship building and steel industries are never going to come back now.

I dont think the Public would be that opposed to nuclear generation if their Mandated & derived wind/solar power leaves them shivering & destitute in the dark. (a situation that Notley, TinkerBell & his ECO-Naxi buddy are seemingly working hard to ensure for ALL Canadians)…..

Canada can’t meet the targets without destroying the economy. If we shut down all heavy industry, we would still miss our targets.
Can’t build a wind turbine or a solar panel without “heavy industry”. How you goin to smelt the metal, or make the glass.
Or get the rare earth metals from China, mined under the most adverse conditions on the plant.
China controls 40% of the wind turbine market. Asked and answered.
I believe UN “experts” have said Canada’s public plan has zero chance of meeting the commitments. Of course Turdeau may have told them Canada will be buying lots of carbon credits.

Yea Solar & Wind are “Cheaper”..?? Total BS as both are completely incapable of operating on their own without massive subsidies. One doesnt work at night and the other is intermittant and requires very expensive backup.
Neither is capable of BaseLOAD power generation….and NEVER will be.

“The average cost of energy in North America” displayed the costs going into the grid, so for wind and solar, take the average cost of the reliable sources, add 25% for stepped inefficiencies (they must provide “spinning back up” for the completely random timing for wind and less unreliable for solar as these unreliables get priority otherwise their meager capacity factors would be worse) times 75% for the duration of time that they run when the unreliables don’t and average that with the cost of unreliabels and you get a roughly average (and grossly simplified) cost just above that of Coal. Take wind and solar off the grid, and those numbers are more accurate but quite useless for the energy market.
This “complexity” is beyond the soundbite capacity of the faith-based delusional greens and their parrots (media and their believers) pimping for the rent seekers who actually know better but need the obfuscation to live off the politico-green hysteria peddling symbiosis. IOW, Politicians and their clients live off hysteria, it sells.
