Full Frontal’s Feckless Apology

They’re sorry and they meant it.

It was “inappropriate and inexcusable” and entirely scripted and prerecorded, and TBS’s standards & practices division (aka, the network censors) allowed the show to air, presumably after previewing it. As Sean Davis tweets, “If the Turner non-reaction so far is any guide, Roseanne’s big mistake was putting her comments on Twitter instead of in her show’s script. The fact that a whole network reviewed, approved, promoted, and aired Bee’s scripted slur is the best protection Bee could ever buy,” adding that “The Roseanne and Samantha Bee scandals aren’t comparable. Roseanne wrote something on Twitter and her show was immediately cancelled. In the case of Samantha Bee, an entire network’s legal and editorial team knew exactly what Bee would say, approved it, and broadcast it.”

  1. I have no appetite for vicious personal attacks from either the left or right. It’s just tribal venting that achieves nothing. In the long run, facts and logic — and a little humor — are far more devastating on your political opponents.

    1. Oh I’m not so sure.
Canada’s P.M. “BONGWHISPERER” has nice releventcy to it, I think.

  2. The only reason I won’t suggest cutting Samantha’s green card in half and summarily deporting her is that no decent person in Canada wants her back.

I’m sure Samantha thought it was hilarious to call Ivanka what she called her. Ivanka’s womb has borne three beautiful children. I dare say all Samantha’s was ever good for was giving her “friends with benefits” the clap.

    1. That was Gnarly. lo

She offered an Apology to keep advertisers money, AutoTrader and State Farm have removed their endorsements, more to come.
Only place you can hit sick liberals is take away their lunch money.

Unless a public station like CBC gets your hard earned taxpayer funds.

    2. The Good Book says that … “… faith, without works is dead.” I would suggest that an “apology” … without a FIRING … is nothing. An empty gesture. A wink and a nod.

So this busy bee will continue her vicious personal attacks on President Trump, his children, grandchildren, and supporters … without using the ‘Cu~t’ word. Meh.

      1. bingo. uber BINGO.
fergive fergive fergive as the hard core xians drone.
fair enough, each to their own, but, BUT there must be C-O-N-S-E-Q-U-E-N-C-E-S,
and THAT is an enormous part of the msg from the Good News. which I have read some 15+ times in 3 or 4 versions.
consequences of sin etc. NO ‘get out of jail free’ that I could see.
with that one exception on Calvary. but which required the ADMISSION of failure and sin.
and, I did get a sense that the Good Lord has a perfect record of cutting the excuses and ‘dismissed on a technicality’ stuff to pieces.
        always a catch eh?

  3. I am thinking that the “clap” you are referring to is not the sound of applause after one of her shows. In fact I had never heard of her before this and was not aware that she was Canadian – the shame…… I think she joins Justin Beaver [sic] as another person we don’t need returned to Canada, too bad our most famous Justin/Justine wouldn’t join them.

    1. These exports are a much more damaging to the U.S.A. than any retaliatory tariffs we could impose.

  4. NONE of the late night comedians or talk show hosts are funny anymore. How long can you just shamelessly, and constantly bash someone, without even coming close to telling some kind of joke. But sadly, people still laugh.

    1. The laughter is not from any humor. It is from the smug, superior feeling of “We are sooooo above these others.” People think that by calling down Trump/Bush/Harper/Ford (any conservative, really) they are aligning themselves with the “right” people…. the Smart ones, you know…. And the laughter is the sheer joy of being soooo superior and able to poke fun at the obvious morons who dare to sing to a different playlist than the Approved One.
But the core of your statement is so true. These late night comedians ceased to be funny long ago. Now they are just mean-spirited, snide, and rude.
Unfortunately, many still watch, and get their political views from them. Repeat a lie enough times and in enough places…..

  5. This is what the left thinks is comedy. Making fun of conservatives and trump 24/7. Ha ha ha ha ha so funny. Even leftists don’t really laugh. They kind of pretend laugh because it’s just stupid and unfunny.

My favourite one recently was a local radio host who’s an absolute baffoon called a company that had advertised the best job in the world. So this doofus puts on a really bad southern accent and pretends to be an idiot because we all know southerners are idiots. Well the woman he was talking to had quite a thick southern accent and also whispered to her friend that she was being pranked by a radio host. So funny. Ha ha ha ha ha. I’ve never heard something on the radio that made me cringe more.

  6. Sir William Schwenk Gilbert and Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan built their reputations and musical careers on their operettas. Those works were not just entertaining, they were often satirical and poked fun at British society, its habits, and its elite class. Two examples are H. M. S. Pinafore and The Mikado and, to the audiences of the time, it was obvious who they were referring to.

But they did it with flair, often tongue in cheek, and they were greatly loved and respected for it plus they also knew where to draw the line. I heard that some of the targets of their barbed wit considered it an honour to be pilloried in such a fashion.

It’s a pity that today’s so-called comedians have neither the flair nor the good sense to do something similar.

  7. The main difference is that Bee probably has good ratings (for whatever reason) while Reseanne’s ratings were circling the drain. They needed and excuse to pull the trigger and got it.

    1. If I had a show that told third-rate, tired, retreated jokes about Trump, I would have ratings, too, but only from TV executives.

Samantha Bee was never funny. All that she is her b!#chiness.

“Roseanne” was doing quite well. Otherwise, it would not have been renewed. The show was cancelled for the sole reason of her inflammatory tweet against Obama’s friend. I say this as someone who never watched the initial or rebooted version of her crappy show. There are several things and people that/who should not be watched but because they wave a leftist flag, they get a pass.

    2. Not really. Poor ratings is an excuse to pull the plug. They don’t need an additional excuse. I think they wanted the show gone because it was normalizing supporting Trump. For that they did need some additional excuse.

      1. Yes that’s right. A huge corporation that is legally bound to please shareholders is out to get you.

Of course it’s not because that’s retarded, as is the notion that they would greenlight a show that would clearly ‘normalize’ Trump support to only pull the plug.

    3. UnMe:
Your statement is totally with out reality.
Roseanne’s ratings rocked the industry and the show was renewed.
The libtards running media hated her pro Trump message and were looking for any reason to cancel the show.

Bee, never heard of her till her stupid comment, authorized by the network by the way.

Not defending what Rosanne said, but defending her right to say it.
The left want to do in 2A so they can then do in 1A.
People being tossed in jail in the UK for speech. License required to buy a knife.
How ridiculous is that, all because leadership from the left are cowering cowards.
Terrified of being called racist, a word that means literally nothing now, it has been abused so much by the left against people they disagree with..
Left progressives ruin everything they touch.

    1. Disappointing. Do these people not know they are alienating their fans with such tasteless remarks?

    2. I don’t like her. I really don’t like her.

Two examples are H. M. S. Pinafore and The Mikado and, to the audiences of the time, it was obvious who they were referring to.

In the original librettos there’s notes that say, in essence, “insert topical reference here”. I think it says something that British Commonwealth culture has endured for so long that all you need to do is insert a current public figure and the rest of the operetta still works.

Then again, this can backfire. When I saw Pinafore last season at Stratford, the First Lord was very deliberately costumed to resemble Col. James Mattis, and portrayed as a mincing homosexual.

  8. …..What would the DemoLeftistFascist Party and associates be without double standards?
    The Retruglican Party!

  9. The public discourse atmosphere in the US is deteriorating drastically. Are we witnessing the collapse of a society? What is next? How long before gunfire?

  10. Too many people giving credit to Samantha “C”, it wasn’t just her, it was the producer, writers, TBS executives,,,this was all planned out ahead, this was no off the cuff remark, everybody knew this was part of the script. They wouldn’t write this inflammatory line without it being approved be TBS executes. This was all planned, likely even the apology and the timing of when to give it!
Criticism, should be dealt out to the “higher ups” at TBS, with questions like, who knew this was part of the Sam C show, and when did they know it ! Sam C shouldn’t be getting all this free publicity, but TBS executes should be made to answer. Sam C is loving this, even getting an award tonight. Now she’s able to say, she got away with saying C#nt on TV, just like Bill Maher used it on Sarah Palin.
Best line from Boots above, “Imagine if Ivanka were a conservative what they’d say?”
