Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

See! Our greedy, thoughtless consumption of fossil fuels has radically altered our global environment and caused our Asian brothers and sisters untold grief!
I knew it would come to this – North American smog drifting westward across the Pacific.
If we could just be China for a day, just one day, the first law passed would be:
“Let’s just be China for a week”
And you can see where we’d be after that.
But that’s ok, its all for the greater good. (as defined by a small elite who are incapable of ‘being in touch’ with the ‘ordinary man’).
Part of the reason for western manufacturing migrating to China was the non punishment of industrial polluters ( I’m talking toxic particulate pollution folks, not plant food and flatulence gases).
Heavy/dirty/resource-consumptive industry fled to China in the wake of Euro ISO 14000 enforcement and our 1970-80s clean air policies. We essentially exported our pollution along with our industrial base productivity/jobs.
The up side of it is (for globalists and Chinese technocrats) is that unrestrained industrialization is a ready made population control instrument. Eg: the average life span of a Beijing traffic cop is 37 years.
I wonder if it’s time to start a range of rain/trench-coats called Beijing Fog? Maybe we could get the progs buying them?
geezus, those smog pix remind me of flying into Denver and LA, U could the smog from miles away, and taste it when you got close. Sure glad we shipped that to China:-))))
China is in many respects at the same stage as the US was early in the 1900s.
While it is admirable – amazing – that they have come this far in about 30 years, I don’t think any sane American would want to to back to that time.

“I do wish someone would actually take mr Friedman to task on the silliness he spouts”
That task would make Sisyphus shudder.
Is it today?
I’ll have the caramelized pork with some Cantonese rice.
He’s really mental. http://hotair.com/greenroom/archives/2013/04/24/tom-friedman-we-must-respond-to-the-boston-attacks-by-passing-a-carbon-tax/
Air-lift him to China or on the other side of the Yalu River. Let him see how wonderful dictatorship, graft, poverty and death are in this country he seems to be enamoured with.
