Y2Kyoto: Down In Flames

“Experts say dry air, strong winds, parched trees and grass and soaring temperatures caused the Oak fire to expand rapidly through the rugged foothills in recent days. The area has experienced nearly two weeks of triple digit temperatures and low humidity,” The Guardian reported of the Oak Fire as it spread. “All this comes at a time when the state is seeing increasingly destructive and deadly blazes and the climate crisis creates conditions ripe for destruction.”

Taxpayer funded (in part) PBS emphasized that the Oak Fire was one of the “devastating consequences” of the “global climate crisis.”

Over at CNN, Chief Climate Correspondent Bill Weir explained how a “‘megadrought’ driven by climate change that is affecting California and other western states has left plenty of dry, flammable material that can become fuel so quickly, especially when humidity is low and winds are high.”

I won’t spoil the punchline.

  1. Between the Arsonists in government responsible for managing forests, and the arsonists who are funding by organizations such as “Climate Emergency”, when does mother nature get a turn?

  2. June is often a wet month. Often the “dry drought summer” with not enough snow over winter is corrected by the end of June with these heavy rains.
Outside of Calgary it is cold and wet and our rain barrels are over flowing. A couple of weeks ago everyone’s grass was browning. Now it’s Ireland.
Why are we always surprized by this?

  3. I’m sitting in Calgary right now looking out at continuing rain… it’s 6C. Destroy the climate cult.

  4. The high church of Global Warmism is perhaps the most widespread death cult ever created by puny men with puny ideas of their place on earth. Jim Jones is pitching a violent outrage FIT from the bowels of hell … that he didn’t think of Global Warming. His back-to-nature plantation in the equatorial zone didn’t go nearly far enough with its brand of eco-religion.

  5. i am mystified why people still believe that if we give money and our rights and way of life to the government they CAN CONTROL THE WEATHER!!! which is total BULLSHIT!!!

  6. A week ago, was wondering if there would be any hay for our animals (central Alberta). Had to empty the rain gauge this morning – just under 7 inches in 10 days. Edson that was evacuated due to wildfires only a few days ago is now dealing with flooding. Snow surrounding Edson yesterday as well. Has happened before this and will happen again.
And here is Environment Canada’s take on our weather. Climate change, blah, blah, blah – And take a look at their Quick “Facts.” Pure propaganda.

    1. My brief summer tour on an 8,000 acre hay ranch in Klamath Falls Oregon … taught me about what rain does to the windrows drying in the field. And the cost of turning the windrows to dry them out … and the loss of hay, and loss of top dollar for our #1 alfalfa. Raining on the windrows is horrifying.

But don’t worry … Wall Street can teach anyone to put seed in the ground, water it, and make $M’s farming … right?

      1. I believe it was Bloomberg who made the stunningly ignorant remark about farmers a few years ago; and it will be so much EASIER when nitrogen fertilizers are withheld.

Revenge being a dish best served cold, the farmers will still be eating when there are no foodstuffs to ship to NYC, and to your neighbors, Kenji.

  7. Yup to all of the above, BUT, forgetting the Climate Change issue for a moment, Wackerman allegedly starting the blaze doesn’t negate the fact that weather had created drought conditions. We had similar conditions here in BC, with a record setting fire …
https://wildfiresituation.nrs.gov.bc.ca/map (Donny Creek) as a result.
Suddenly it rained over the weekend and voila, back to normal,, pretty much. Except for Donny Cr., it’s still out of control and growing.

    1. I’m guessing California and BC have burned before, long before man made carbon emissions, with the possible exception of those from the occasional aboriginal campfire.

    2. DaninVan – one of the interesting revelations to come out over the past few years is that the indigenous people would actually set fire to the forest when they thought it appropriate. Living so close to nature as they did, they realized that fire was a part of the forest cycle, and they did their best to figure out how to control the burns.
Reality is that an “old growth” forest is fairly dead. There’s nothing much able to live under that canopy. When wildfires were allowed to burn freely, or near offer, fires would occur frequently enough to clear out the dead “slash” and help regenerate the forests. Up until the 1930s, fires were considered a natural part of nature’s cycle; but then the “Smokey the Bear” syndrome took hold and fire suppression was in vogue. Later, the “return to nature” crowd decreed that any cleaning out of deadwood, etc., was “unnatural”. The result has been that a serious fuel load had been encouraged to build up in the forests so that a stroke of lightening or a careless camper – and we’re not even going there with arsonists – can cause a catastrophic fire where earlier and smaller burns would do good. Australia has experienced this, where “conservationists” have prevented rural residents from fire-proofing their properties by removing bushes known to be hazardous and so have wreaked havoc on the rural areas.
Back in the 1880s and 1890s, the East Kootenay area had a lot of fires. Some came from the trains emitting sparks as they headed to Vancouver, but others were set by prospectors who found that a judiciously started fire would do wonders in clearing the bush so the underlying rocks could be inspected. All this newly cleared land became pasturage, and the big game moved in. There was good hunting; knew a man who would go hunting in that area yearly and bring back enough game which – properly frozen – kept the family in meat for the year.
By about the 1960s, though, it was noted that the large animal population was seriously diminishing. Suspicion, naturally, fell on the hunters as being the cause. Reality, however, was much simpler: fire suppression policies had meant the trees were re-populating the pastures so the big game animals were being forced to move elsewhere.
And let’s talk Climate Change. As one with an honours degree in geology, I learned early on that the one thing the climate does is change. And also that there are cycles within said change. We have wet years and dry years; that’s how it is. The Palliser expedition of 1857 – 1859, exploring the prairies, happened to occur during a time of extreme drought. As a result, one of the conclusions of that expedition was that there was an area on the prairies (now known as Palliser’s Triangle) which was more prone to drought that the surrounding regions. When one looks at where the drought hit hardest in the “dirty ’30s”, the triangle gets the nod. And this was realized far before rising CO2 levels could have come into play.
We have always tried to “walk gentle this good earth”, but we also realize that the climate does its own thing because the sun is really in control. As well, we realize that having reliable and affordable sources of energy are what will help all people to live good lives.

    1. Yep … now their Religion has moved into the eschatology phase of belief. Warning you to “get right with the planet” … before you Dieeeeeeee!!!! Aiiieeeeeeeeeeee!!!

  8. It doesn’t matter if the fluff propaganda doesn’t add up.. Its not supposed too.. That’s why they changed the name to climate change :)..
We are at the mercy of a pagan religious movement.. I see water damage or burnt toast.. They see mother Gaia..

They are nuts.. All we can do is try and endure their fantasy’s for as long as possible.. Study your bad idea.. Look at it from all angles.. Formulate a plan and fail.. How long can we pretend they are not parasites?.. The moronic masses will wake up one day.. Until then sort your garbage for no reason..
