It’s been 3 or 4 weeks since the mask order was lifted in Ontario, but here in Ottawa masks are still ubiquitous. I thought people would have given up on them by now, but I think there’s a spirit of truculence abroad in the land, and these maskers are determined to *show us* that they’re made of sterner stuff, and are wearing their hair shirts on their faces. I went into a Fabricland where literally every other person was wearing a mask, and it frankly unnerved me so much I left. Later I realized that a fabric store was pretty much Karen Central, so I shouldn’t have been so surprised.

I found that out 45 years ago. I bought a brand-new VW Rabbit, which had been introduced in Canada about 2 years earlier. There were a few bugs in it, as I found out a few months after I drove it off the dealer’s lot.
