Geopolitics, oil, and the ultimate inevitable celebration of the oil sands

Last century, the west scrambled to secure access to cheap energy, meaning hydrocarbons. This century, an excess of familiarity and contempt has us turning our back on that fuel source, and trying to obliterate our energy pillars (ask Shell or ExxonMobil about that). But 4 billion people in China, India, Africa and elsewhere are embarking on that same path the west did. A consequence is that in a decade or two, North America is going to be very fond of those oil sands. Read on…

  1. Too bad Blackie just told the pipeline crews to stop cutting down sacred trees on the route. And environmental loons and Indians have forced insurance companies to withdraw coverage.

    1. So, since the Indians don’t want any oil and gas development on their land, how are they going to fuel the expensive new pick-up trucks I’ve seen on their properties?

  2. Oh, China is very fond of those oil sands indeed.

They simply have no intention of paying blue-eyed devils a fair price for their coal and oil if they can simply steal it instead.

    1. They aren’t stealing it. Our leaders are giving it to them. Harper handed the Chinese the keys to the kingdom.

  3. “North America is going to be very fond of those oil sands.”
Well, the aholes we elect will be very fond of the golden parachutes they buy when they sell it off to the gooks for a song and a dance will be.

  4. Eventually all coal, oil and gas will used, eventually, as the options at this point are pretty much zero. The failure to understand that without coal, oil and gas just about nothing can be produced. While food could be produced, it would not be in quantities large enough to feed 8 billion people.

    1. That will take centuries. By then, thorium reactors may be viable, or we’ll start mining asteroids for uranium, or have some tech that can rectify very high frequency currents, or space-based solar collectors beaming energy down to microwave collectors, maybe even some kind of controlled fusion.

  5. Oil, gas, uranium, coal, wood, aluminum, copper. All good things mother earth has given us to thrive and prosper. Anyone who thinks otherwise is insane.
The one thing about energy security Canadians better understand is that their American protectors provide the military security to allow them to keep it.

  6. I think oil in the Western world will be like tobacco. Still produced in reduced quantities, still consumed in reduced quantities, but not celebrated. Energy companies will be like tobacco companies: changing names, changing products and vomiting the bullshit of the day. The Western world is going stupid. But, hey, let’s sign a petition cause mischief is important, isn’t it?

  7. If we declare our independence from the Kleptocracy of Can Ahh Duh and take control of our own resources,we will be in a magnificent position to profiteer from the rank insanity of Gang Green and able to return the love Eastern Canada has shown us for so long.
