    1. The Chinese government started the pandemic lockdown kabuki theatre and for some reason other countries started dancing to that tune. If the WHO had just stuck to what they had published it would have been better, but the fraud in charge was a puppet for the Chinese Communist Party, and they called in their marker. They put him in charge, they knew they had a willing and compliant puppet, and the WHO did what they were told.

      The Chinese government, not the people, should eventually be held to account for this fiasco. All those deaths laid at their feet.

      1. Not everyone who is older than you is a boomer. Few boomers are dead from COVID. The eldest, born in 1946 are only 74/5 and most are not in care homes. They are at home and many are still working. Those born in 1964 are only 57, trying to shore up businesses or work from home.

        Most of we who are retired now are mad as heck that we can not travel, socialize, go to hockey games and visit grand children, and yes, hate lockdown rules, as you do.

        Yes, many who have died are white, but let’s face the fact that 80 years ago, most people who lived in Canada were white, but the majority in long-term care homes are not boomers, but were born before WWII.

        I do agree with you that we should look at pharma companies and who is making huge pots of money from this overblown “emergency” vs. using known treatments.

        We still have lots of questions about origins: a lab escape or a cave cleaning escape. Perhaps cutting off all research cooperation with China would help loosen lips.

  6. The Chain was on Fleetwood Mac’s album Rumors, one of the best recordings from the 1970s. Many of the songs were personal as I think the McVeighs were having marital problems at the time and Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were also splitting.

    The tensions definitely showed in the performances.

    As for the album, it was released during my senior undergraduate year and it remains one of my favourites.

      Figures that the creepy woman’s show would feature such a travesty.

      The cover by The Highwomen is superbly done acoustically, the guitars and vocals sound great. But both these covers lack the plaintive vocals of Buckingham expressing his frustration over multiple love affairs and cheating by his long time partner. It also misses the driving bass line by McVie … a superb bridge to (again) Buckingham’s plaintive guitar solo that hammers out the mess his relationships have fallen into.

      Ironically, the song was constructed using bits and pieces of a Buckingham-Nicks song and a song by Christine McVie contributed the bass solo and drum pattern. Bits and pieces of the relationships being both torn apart, and binding them together.

      1. We’ve discussed FM in the past here on SDA. In my opinion, the band had a good run from when Buckingham and Nicks joined to the early 1980s. After that, I wasn’t too impressed with them.

        Maybe they just didn’t have the good sense to quit when they were ahead. At least groups like the Dave Clark Five chose to disband on a high note, leaving their fans with good memories.

    2. A few years ago, hubby and I went to see Classic Albums Live perform “Rumours,” and it was awesome. My only complaint was the well-behaved audience. The opening track was “Second Hand News” and I was ready to jump up and start dancing in the aisle (I LOVE that song). Alas, everyone remained seated and so did I.
