      1. Not yet Queen V day. Don’t plant your flowers yet, there’s still likely to be another snow.

        1. Funny you should mention that. I remember the southern Alberta pre-Victoria Day blizzard of 1986. It knocked out power in the area where I was living at the time. Many line repair crews likely made a lot of overtime in the following weeks as I saw quite a few broken power poles on my way into Calgary.

        2. Have woken up more than once to having our trees rather savagely pruned by a Victoria Day weekend blizzard.

    1. Maybe it is kind of the like movie Groundhog Day, same shit over and over again.

    1. When they dive so deep as to call it racist that’s when you can confidently tell them they’re insane.

      1. You may have forgotten this imminent closure of our fuel supply in Ontario.
Not a single word of this from our Premier…
Nothing, nodda and he should be all up into this and updating us.
So, his silence does speak volumes.
It is his Province that this will vastly impact.

    1. Looks to me like cases are way down, so why did they extend it? Has Doug Ford seen this? Have his medical advisors seen it? I am beginning to think they are trapped in those information silos — totally missing important information from outside the silo — like that Simon Fraser prof looking at 80 studies and recognizing that lockdowns make no difference in the virus trajectory.

    2. @WillR — on the PHO data tool that you linked to, change the ‘Start date’ on the Case Trends tab to sometime last fall, say, Sept 1, 2020.

For what it’s worth, a fuller picture including Wave 2 (when variants weren’t an issue) helps explains ON’s reasoning for the lockdown extension: case counts and case rates, while past their peaks, are still relatively high and well above the troughs in Feb 2020. Test positivity, while also trending down, is still above 2.5. Number of patients in hospital/ICU remain higher than in the fall.

The extra two weeks allow for trends to continue moving downward, plus at 140K vaccine doses administered per day, it’s potentially another 2M jabs in arms between now and June 2.

      1. Bullshit. 1/2 of adults have at least one shot. How many had one last fall?
The other trend you’re missing…kind of a biggy? The WEATHER!
And using the term “jabs” says alot as well.

      2. “troughs in Feb 2020” (before virus had even started spreading in Canada)

        “jabs in arms”

We’ve got a COVID Zero doomer here folks.

Michigan’s graph looks just like ours. Latitude is the determining factor, not lockdowns.

        1. Excellent point about latitude. He anyone studied that? We do know there are many studies indicating that lockdowns make no difference in deaths. I also think way too much is being read into the results of the faulty PCR tests. We don’t care about “cases”. We care about sick people.

      3. Lockdowns are still a totalitarian measure for a virus with a +99% recovery rate. Only True Believers accept restrictions.

        1. It’s the ‘attack rate’ that’s the cause of concern.

A virus with a 99.9% recovery rate that society has experienced with, that has developed some population-level natural immunity to over time — e.g. seasonal influenza — would not warrant emergency pandemic responses. On the other hand, a virus with a 99.9% recovery rate that is also novel, for which population-level natural immunity is low, is a problem due to the sheer number of people who can potential become quite sick at the same time.

          1. A virus with which the vast majority of people are already immune to is not “novel”. Most of the bullshit forecasts – which were all mistaken by several orders of magnitude – presumed no pre-existing natural immunity. Clearly, it is not “novel” in that a large fraction of the population has a natural immunity to it. Perhaps 50% or more!

      4. teddy, yer letting yer leftist stupidity hang out. It ‘s total incompetence why the lock down is being extended , nothing more!

  1. Yet another of my movie alerts.

Tomorrow night (or on Sunday morning, if you prefer) TCM’s Noir Alley returns after being on hiatus for several weeks. The selection this time is Touch of Evil, starring Charlton Heston, Janet Leigh, and Orson Welles. Watch for Dennis Weaver, Marlene Dietrich, and Zsa Zsa Gabor in minor roles.

The plot has a lot of twists and turns. Welles is in one of his most sinister roles but Heston, I think, was miscast. I saw it ony once and wasn’t particularly impressed with it at the time, so I’m planning on watching it and giving it another chance.

    1. As a postscript, though relevant to many of our discussions, TCM will be showing the movie Metropolitan Sunday night.

The film is about a bunch of over-educated and privileged yuppies. It’s actually a dreadful, plotless mess, but I think it provides insights into the mentality of our “betters” and how out of touch they are with we deplorables.

If you do want to watch it, holding your nose might be a good idea. The characters in that movie are truly irritatingly revolting. I’m sure if it was re-made today, many of them would run off and join Antifa.

  2. I can only hope the mendacious governance of the extremely stupid comes fully to light regarding Covid-19.
If you were a dog, and your owner threw your stick into traffic, would you fetch it?
    1. The rush to vaccines which universally cause the irreversible cellular production of a spike protein, now proven to be the causation of disease, to evoke immune responses is fully uncharted territory. Meanwhile, as we’ve known from the Chinese physicians from the beginning.
    https://www.contagionlive.com/view/abo-gene-associated-with-risk-of-covid-19
CONCLUSIONS: This multi-omics approach led to the discovery of novel genes associated with COVID-19. We found that the ABO protein is a causal risk factor for COVID-19, with blood group O being protective against COVID-19.
    (emphasis mine)
    2. Indoor confinement with complete disregard for airborne pathogens and, more importantly, no effort to protect the most vulnerable.
    https://www.contagionlive.com/view/low-cost-air-cleaner-found-to-greatly-reduce-covid-19-transmission
    (same source)
We are living in a burning stupid fueled hell.
BTW if you or someone you know is fighting cancer the HCP live link in this site looks like good reading.

    1. For what it’s worth, according to this article, the chance of contracting severe covid is 13% lower in people with blood group O . See below:
      https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-science-idUSKBN2872LH

“Canadians who were tested for the virus, the risk for a COVID-19 diagnosis was 12% lower and the risk for severe COVID-19 or death was 13% lower in people with blood group O versus those with A, AB, or B, researchers reported on Tuesday in Annals of Internal Medicine. People in any blood group who were Rh-negative were also somewhat protected, especially if they had O-negative blood. People in these blood type groups may have developed antibodies that can recognize some aspect of the new virus, coauthor Dr. Joel Ray of St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto told Reuters.”

      1. It is amazing, it seems the more they think they know the less they actually do know. Basic hygiene, a good diet with adequate vitamin supplements and you will ward off most flu viruses and that includes the whu who flu.

        1. OWG.

          COMMON SENSE….no.?
But as we both know, Just not so common at all these days…
One look to the herd running blindly into traffic to retrieve their Bone, easily illustrates that.

      2. Hi Nancy,
        Late reply…
I reviewed this study to the best of my ability. Throughout the process I was plagued by 2 major questions.
Q1. Why were these people tested?
        A. (cut paste from discussion)
“If O or Rh− blood type is truly protective against SARS-CoV-2 infection, then it is possible that a person who was type O or Rh− would remain asymptomatic and thus not even have viral testing. Accordingly, a study from a setting in which universal screening was done may optimally handle some of these potential issues related to selection bias.”
Q2. Did sampling reflect the average blood type distribution in Canada?
        A. No. Type O represents about 46% of Canadians. In this study [(biased by existing recorded ABO data prerequisites which skew the cohort toward older (mean = 53.8 yrs.) , sicker people, and a startling predominance of women (71%)] type O was over-represented at just under 69% in this cohort.

I personally am not as concerned about the reduced (noticeable) infection rate as I am about severity and outcome.
This study differentiates SARS-CoV-2 (the virus) from COVID-19 the illness. It is here that I suspect the way type Os govern Interleukin-6 and ACE2 dominance reducing risk / progression of hypertension will improve the outcome of COVID-19 more dramatically than can be demonstrated through this type of data review given the acknowledged biases. If you’ve got a good thing going, do you really want to add spike proteins? (Especially if Rh-)

  3. Between Joe Bidet and the CDC and the Ass Clowns running the Canadian Covid GOOLAG. Masks off, masks on, vax again no don’t vax again. Social distance no no need too.
This is going to get interesting. The Karen’s will have to decide if they still wear the masks to virtue signal or to not wear a mask to show they got the shot.
It’ll also be harder for them to figure out who the rebels are and who got the shot.

    1. I don’t usually look at your posts as being sarcasm but this one I can get behind.

  4. Looking to get a link for this.

Last night on the local London news cast one of their lead stories (which they reported triumphantly) was on the police raid on the church in Alymer. Later in the newscast another story about a protest in London against the recent actions by Israel to defend itself, where literally hundreds of protesters showed up in their cars (repleat with Palestinian flags) yet strangely no police presence. The news reader gleefully explained that the protest was due to the actions of Israel with a strategic insertion of file footage of the liberal protected species during a past conflict.
I remarked why these people are not being charged for “breaking the rules just like those mennonites in Alymer” and all I got was silence.
I will look for a link, but has anyone seen similar protests recently?

      1. Makes absolute perfect sense to the True Believers. COVID virus knows the difference between Christians worshipping and Muslims rioting. Doublethink is essential to the leftist mind.

  5. The editorial at today’s Toronto Star, is that the censorship bill is wonderful in every way. The Conservatives are evil for opposing it. The Heritage Minister is doing a great job.

  6. The Workers Paradise faced a challenge. On Sundays factories were empty and churches were full. The Communists figured out a creative way to kill two capitalist birds with one stone. They outlawed Sundays! And the workers and peasants lived happily ever after. For eleven years, that is.

For 11 Years, the Soviet Union Had No Weekends
The experiment of a ‘continuous week’ was shift work, on a colossal scale. And it failed.

    https://www.history.com/news/soviet-union-stalin-weekend-labor-policy

  7. CTV News website reports that the developer of the Astra Zeneca vaccine has blasted the Trudeau government for messing around with the vaccines. People are going to lose their lives over it.

  8. As SDAers know, the corporate media are belatedly running stories about the surge in inflation. Most articles still carry the establishment line, that inflation is “temporary” or due to “base effects” (i.e. low index number a year ago). A few establishment types are starting to smell the coffee:
    https://www.businessinsider.com.au/inflation-increase-outlook-us-money-supply-explodes-jeremy-siegel-2021-5

Note we were talking about the money supply explosion last fall.

  9. Sheesh, you guys sleepin’ over here at SDA?

A big story broke last night and was released at 5pm. The vax czar Deny Fortin resigned his post and is under military investigation. This has to hit the libranos right where they live. They were forced out into the open and released the story late before the weekend? It CYA time.

The librano war room will not sleep on the weekend. The most experienced spin doctors will be employed. Crisis management team is in full engagement.

    1. Hi, Abtrapper–
Yes, saw that at the top of the TV news last night but exact details are still sketchy. However, over here at SDA, Chris put this info in the “Moral and Intellectual Superiors” thread.
      He wrote:
“We know he has been twiddling his fingers with regards to getting vaccines for Canadians. I wonder where else he has been twiddling his fingers?”

      P.S.
Must be another sex scandal eh? Or, maybe he is against mRNA Vax? What’s happening today? We miss your scoops.

      1. Sorry Chris I missed your post. I think this is going to be BIG.
Too many things point in that direction.

I went to ground here after Nov 3rd. Took a break.

No scoops Nancy but I ‘heard’ an interesting tidbit from one of my Ottawa buddies. It involves the Bong and Soapy. No divorce in the offing but a screaming match took place in a local eatery….ha – never a good sign. Poor things must be under so much pressure.

        1. So, they’re diseased and classless and were showing off again. I guess we Canadians should be frightened, our Man and First Lady both have explosive temper disorders.

I recall, and wrote about it here, that some reporter said that when they all were in India their #3 child had a temper tantrum and was laying down on the lawn in the background when the rest of the family was on camera being interviewed. Mom and Pop just ignored him. I guess #3 gets it honestly. Yes, poor Trudeaus!

          1. Yeah your right.

#3 – was that the one the Bong spelt his name wrong – when took to social media to announce his birth? Haha

  10. https://twitter.com/AP/status/1393545562239250434?s=20

The IDF served notice to the Associated Press and Al Jazeera that their offices in Gaza were being targeted for destruction and that if they had the sense God gave an Arab they would run for their goddamn lives, because they can recycle Iranian government press releases from Doha and New York.

    Then they did it.

Nice shooting, men. More of this, and often. The hacks need to learn that telling lies about Jews has consequences.

    1. OUTSTANDING….LMAO.!!
Looks good on these Lying Commie Bastards in the MSM.
      Zero fks given.
      Good on the Israeli’s.!!

      LONG LONG Ovedue IMO.

That something like this could possibly happen to: Globe – CBC – CTV – Tor Star etc.??….now THERE I would be seen Cheering and Screaming in the Streets…!!! YES YES YES..!!! more pls..!!!!

  11. Newfoundland broke again. Just like Canada, Newfoundland has found out that when you are spending like a CRAZED SOCIALIST 25% above income in Newfoundland, the International Markets quit buying your bonds.
This is what is going to happen to Canada as well and very soon. Ottawa is around 6T in debt now and the stupid bastards locked down the whole country and demanded small business close down. So probably 25% plus of those small business’s are now bankrupt. Nobody is talking about this.
The bankruptcies and failed mortgages are going to be epic when the numbers come in, the international bond rating agencies in Canada have been told to shut up and no comments please. But anybody that can do basic math should understand that the Canadian economy is toast. Trudeau has even F*cked his welfare queens in Atlantic canada.
He even killed their Golden Goose Alberta, Alberta is 100B in debt thanks to our FAKE CON Kenney. Alberta will not be bailing out Ottawa and the WELFARE QUEENS we are broke, bankrupt kaput.
All the free shit has to be paid for, Eastern Canada loves Trudeau and the NDP and lots of big government intervention in every small detail of their lives.
Newfoundland is an indication of what is going to be forced on all the welfare bum, fake CONS/LIBS/NDP/GREENS. And the BIG SPENDING SOCIALIST MAYORS of the Cities and Municipalities. Big, big cuts coming forced by the Socialist Demands of the Idiots elected by Idiot voters.

  12. On Friday, the much-revered Don Lemon of CNN News announced he is leaving the show.

    1. HOORAY! Not that I ever watch CNN but its good to know that slick, slimy little runt is gone. YAY!

      1. Sorry, this Saturday afternoon Variety is now reporting that CNN will now be broadcasting “Don Lemon Tonight”. The crappy publicity stunt was to promote a title change only. The title change means that thr congenital liar will be freer with his crapola opinions (lies surely?), than he was before.

    1. All the other leaders of communist eastern Europe died in bed.

Ceausescu was lynched not for starving his people (nobody who mattered outside Romania cared about that) but for paying off his country’s national debt and threatening to become competition for the Third World debt racket that Wall Street were making a good living off.

    2. They communicate through Twitter and TV. The kid’s daddo probably told him that balconies were dangerous.

  13. This week’s edition of Hotel Mars on John Batchelor’s show is about the recent matter about the Chinese Long March 5B booster stage:

    https://audioboom.com/posts/7866018-hotelmars-long-march-5b-is-a-design-flaw-failure-david-livingston-spaceshow-com-jonathan-mcd

Dr. Jonathan McDowell maintains a database of orbiting spacecraft, including country of origin, launch date, NORAD ID, and name. It’s often used as a reference for identifying satellites.

  14. Both Rex Murphy and Conrad Black have excellent stories today at the National Post website. Rex trashes the CBC and Conrad trashes everything else.

  15. The media reports about thirteen thousand muslims and leftists have shown up at Toronto city hall to support Palestinians and denounce Israel. No social distancing and lots of banners and shouting. No word on whether Blackie will show up to take a knee. Remember, diversity is our strength. No comments from city officials on the demonstration, but they did denounce the anti-lockdown march today.

  16. Got my bet on with SIL and Niece for the Preakness. I picked Midnight Bourbon. He is a bit of a joker, and will goof off if he is allowed, but has amazing speed and energy with right jockey. I think Ortiz is that jockey.
