    1. I have been wondering if the meat packing employees showed symptoms. If not, seems excessive to shut down operations.

    2. I’d like to know how it is that ANYONE got infected on this ship. Was it moored in San Diego or on the East Coast..?? When was the last time it was..?

If it was out to sea….?? hmmm.???

    1. Re: Conrad Black on Sask-Alta.
I guess Conrad’s New Deal is summed up as “the federal government has to revise the transfer payment system, stop tolerating frivolous and vexatious harassments of pipeline projects by Indigenous protesters or anyone else and drastically revise its energy policy, including the carbon tax (which was always just a lunge for more money absurdly disguised as saving the planet)”.

And every Quebecer has to vote conservative…

    2. Very good view of Canada…but it’s Quebec that wants to part ways with the dysfunctional Multi-Culture forcing of Ottawa (Ontario) They both need Alberta to blame… Quebec has the votes NOW .. Just need some smoke to get a good deal & not be blamed for destroying Canada….They will make their move ASAP or they will lose the perfect storm….Canada’s Virus reaction/inaction is another Nail… When the $ drops to .54 cents the Bond Market will dry up… Nobody will lend money to such a Dysfunctional system.. not even China

      1. The Venezuela North disease is just getting started. By the time the east coast figures it out it will be too late. They will be eating the neighbors cat and the West will be gone along with their lunch money. Canada can not possibly service the debt load incurred by insane policies of Canadian Uniparty Egomaniacs. Canadian Total Public Debt 3-4Trillon number of tax payers, about 18M. Last time that Canada got squeezed Chretien and Martin sold off all of Canada’s Gold Reserves and stole 54B from the UI Fund held in trust by Ottawa. Not much left to steal. Good Bye Canada. This will drive the last nail in the coffin.

  1. It is only fitting to point out a few competitive Advantages… The East Coast begins their day determining the issues & solutions…..While the West coasts is still sleeping… The East Coast breaks for a well earned Lunch and the West Coast begins their Day playing Catch up… They lead from the rear, never catching UP…

When the Sunshine States open for Business, and California and D States are stuck on stupid . The time advantage will never be equal…..Bye… Bye… boys…. What client want to deal with the uncertainty of wimpy, limp wrist Government

    1. Asleep? I think not. Westerners get up early to trade and then when the market closes they can go to the links or the gym etc as early as 1 or 2 pm when the day is still young.

Some of us like LIVE shows out of L.A. that end early whilst East Coasters have to either miss it or stay up past their bedtime. The drier weather out West is way more pleasant than damp, old Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes where the winter weather causes them to be the biggest whiners in the whole country.

I will never set foot in the Eastern part of Canada unless you pay me a Million tax free dollars. Then I would ask for how long and when I can go back West. I lived/live on both coasts. West is better.

From the web: “Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange have trading hours of 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday, with the exception of the stock market holidays.”

P.S. Besides, the Rockies are to die for! There’s more… but I’m sure you get the picture.

      1. Speaking of time difference and its effects, here is a clear indication of how dictatorial the Chicom regime is, and how little it cares for the welfare of the common people.
China extends from Heilongiang in the East (which in longitude reaches Honshu in Japan) to Tibet in the West (which almost extends in longitude over the entire India). Its territory extends over three entire time zones, and parts of two others. It is a nation that ought to be divided into at least three time zones, or arguably five.
It has one. It’s the proper time zone for Beijing, but surely not Tibet of Sinkiang. No wonder the Tibetians and Uighurs hate them.
Imagine we in the western North America have to live by the time zone of Washington D.C or Ottawa. And they have done this since Day One.
P.S. Yes, the Canadian Rockies are to die for. The mountains are spectacular, of course, and Lake Louise is the most beautiful lake I have ever seen.

        1. Try Morraine Lake, left before you get to Louise. A bit of a drive but well worth the trip. Early AM is best, few tourists and you catch the rising sun on the East facing slopes. Watch for grizz though.

        2. I dunno, this is a big country in comparison. I worked in the investment industry for a few years in Vancouver. Trading day starts Tronna time. Trading hours are 9:30 – 4:00 (6:30 – 1:00 Vancouver time). As Nancy says, time for a round of golf once the day is done. Burnaby course got a lot of divot time, then beers on Lonsdale where I lived. Walk home, downhill.

          1. It is one thing if your work forces you to keep Eastern time. The choice of work was yours, the choice of residence was yours. Your recount shows it wasn’t a bad life at all. Golf on the links, beer in a tavern. One of my fond memories of grad school was to have dinner and beer at the local tavern most evenings. But Vancouver still kept Pacific time, and most of the people there couldn’t care less what time it was back East.

But to force an entire time zone to keep your time is something else. I have no idea how the people there actually live, but I have an idea the local officials, who have to keep Beijing time regardless, see nothing wrong with forcing the entire populace to do it as well. They will forever have to get up and eat breakfast in the middle of night, and go to bed when the sun is still up … all because the Chicom bosses want the infrequent convenience of calling someone in Tibet at their own leisure.
The People’s Republic? Hah! They couldn’t care less for the people. The Communist Party’s China is much more like it. A country of the Party, for the Party, and by the Party.

      2. I’m a born and raised Albertan. I like the praries, but don’t care much for the mountains.

It won’t win me many friends on this site but I personally adore Quebec, (not the politics, systemic corruption or the Libranos) have tons of family there and it feels like my second home. I find people in general are very friendly and approchable vs Albertans who are stand offish and cliquey.

Going east especially in the spring summer or early fall I love the humidity, it feels like being in the spa, I find my aches and pains disappear and everything just feels better.

My favourite place in North America is around the DC, Virginia Maryland area.

        1. So you have a perverse love of shitholes? The humidity in Ontario is brutal and Quebecois are racist asshole swine. Need anything else straightened out?

      3. Nancy Nancy ..The time difference was an inside joke within NBC … Burbank always resented NYC because when you wanted to poke them you would say.. Where were you?… Sleeping?…. True but nasty
The Network Engineering gossip mongers always called their W Coast buds at noon.. and the news would spread across both coasts NBC/ABC/CBS by 2: PM ET…. Trivia BS travels faster than the speed of Light.
There is power in gossip Mongers if you know how to use it…
A Canadian Example: In ~ 1990 I was looking for Engineering expertise in Technology that a certain Lab Director @ CDL (CBC GOV LAB) They had been closed down by the Govt and he was at home trying to decide what was next.. I said I would come up to Quebec and meet him.. He called me back and said that he and his mentor, a Engineering PhD from McGill, would come to NY and meet me in my office…. Ok.. I wrote a memo to all the Engineering Mgr’s in NBC and invited them & their Staff to the informal discussion…They walked in expecting to meet me but I took them to the Conference room facing ~ 50 interested Engineers.. The questions & Answers were very well handled and they thought very useful to their future Business plan… But before they got back to Quebec… The Whole Network & Post Production industry gossip mongers ALL wanted to Know more about their Company.. At the NAB Conference that year every GM & Purchasing Agent had them on THE list . He built a multimillion dollar Company with a instant market….. I had never done that for anybody before or since, but he was a nice guy (He thought I was an American)
        Shit happens

        1. Since you wise educated people are spouting off today here’s my story A cousin and neighbour another wise, educated prick wanted to borrow our bin crane to build a grain bin when it wasn’t returned on the agreed date ,off myself the old man ,and uncle go to fetch it This wise arrogant twit built the bin in the shade so he would be out of the hot sun (his words) but he had built the bin behind a power line so he couldn’t move it to where it was supposed to be and the bin had to be disassembled The old man promptly quipped So that’s what 10 years of education gets you.The wise man went back to the city where he belonged

      4. B C, before common sense, lived and worked there many years ago, vowed I would never live there or work there again, too many socialist/fascist nannies.

      5. NR I agree 100% with your statement Add that the Canadian Dollar Value is based on Oil now. It is a Petro Dollar. None of the social programs in Canada which are not sustainable without massive borrowing are going to survive very long without Alberta and without Alberta Oil getting to world market. Canada as a country is not sustainable. There I used their word sustainability.

        1. Watcher, nothing is going to survive with the tax base shut down. There isn’t a government in the world that can supply the level of income and life style that our economy has provided. Printing money and borrowing to give money to foreign entities, as the liberals are doing, will break us, physically, financially, morally and mentally.

          1. OWG I agree further up. Canada will probably not survive this economically or as a country. It is mathematically impossible. With total public debt loads, size of regulatory burden, government is way to big and completely unwieldy. Almost 30% of all of Canada’s economy is Government. That is 3 level’s of government. Our governments do not exist on taxes collected as in living within their means. And being that they now collect more taxes than Canadians are allowed to keep for food, clothing and housing, they have no room left to tax anyone. They simply have to go away, get smaller, disappear. They only exist now on borrowed money.

    2. Many years ago, I was a contractor at a certain western-based facility, though the company I was associated with was based in the Montreal area. Several of us had contracts with that outfit and, one day, one of the managers came out west to visit us.

One evening, we were at a local watering hole and were shooting the breeze. The manager was adamant that whenever there was a large project in progress, the east should always get the lion’s share of the action. His argument was because that’s where the capabilities were.

While what he said was true, he didn’t want to consider the fact that the west was later in developing its industrial capacity and that there are distinct advantages to awarding contracts to companies closer to the actual work itself.

By his thinking, all the steel for an oil sands plant should come only from the east, because that was where most of the manufacturers were. Never mind that there were mills in the west that could produce much of it.

Besides, the western part of the country is closer to the Far East.

  2. Double Feature:

    1. Why Is Joe Rogan So Popular? He understands men in America better than most people do. The rest of the country should start paying attention. From the Atlantic – https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2019/08/my-joe-rogan-experience/594802/

It links to NASA Q&A on Reddit which notes ” each Sun-like star in our Galaxy has a 20-50% chance of hosting a rocky planet in the habitable zone”. “…smaller, cooler stars called M DWARFS… might have SEVERAL HABITABLE, ROCKY PLANETS EACH”!!

  3. I checked out (online) what I could get from the government today. Senior, male, white, non-native, blue eyes, single, healthy.
It turns out I can get a free bus pass from the city of Moose Jaw. I live 60 miles South of there. So am I supposed to drive drive to Moose Jaw, park my car so I can get on the bus for free to go see Mac the Moose, the biggest Moose in Canada? I’ve already seen that. I can’t go to nearby Tim Hortons, the tables are closed, and you can’t drive a bus through the ”Drive Through.”
Another Liberal hoax. And with my luck, I’d get back to the car and there’d be a parking ticket under the wiper blade for $25,00, about 10 times the price of what it costs if I was paying for riding the bus for a day in Moose Jaw. I’ll stay home and watch reruns of my favorite TV show, ”Rat Patrol.” Enjoy.

PS: Interesting to note that there were a lot of technical errors. The trucks and and tanks the Germans were using in the show are all American war machinery modified for the show.

    1. Thanks for the link. I remember watching this doctor a week ago, maybe more? This is why we don’t need the Liberal government controlling “misinformation” and Facebook guiding people away from whatever they don’t approve of. I am sure had the doctor posted something on Medium about this they would have had it down in less than an hour because it didn’t fit the narrative.

I can share the Mail link, because folks on Facebook will see it as a “reputable” news source. They don’t realize how many people are sharing information around them, sometime weeks in advance, that they will never hear because the CBC, CTV, and other gatekeepers deem it too dangerous for the proles.

    2. Rockyt

“…The answer is that some doctors have a remarkable new thesis: that the virus’s symptoms are more akin to high altitude breathing difficulties (HYPOXIA)

What FLOORS me is that this INFO has been out there for at least 3 weeks now….How many have died during that time due to the sluggishness or arrogance of Hi level so called Medical Experts. When this thing is truly over – there needs to be a reckoning…BIG TIME.

  5. Just a point about conspiracy theory’s…. If there is more than 2 people involved the odds against it been successful take a quantum leap for each member added… I think @ 6 it’s fucked.. Most Company trade Secrets are know by 2 people and everybody else is in the dark & fooled…

Stupidity is always the leading factor and more than likely it is mistaken for an intelligence level that doesn’t exist. Groups of Stupid people do exist

    1. The author and the publication seem quite legitimate. Xi could easily have calculated that containment would only hurt China and therefore wanted to cause as much mayhem worldwide as possible. It’s a gamble, but he knows China can strong-arm pathetic western leaders like Trudeau, and he knows the useful idiots in media will be on his side.

Death has never bothered Chinese leaders before.

    2. Within the China US trade deal phase 1 focuses primarily on purchasing US soybeans and pork in exchange for removal of tariffs on Chinese products is an out clause.
If there is a pandemic the deal is off.
2 days after deal is signed China starts to release data on Wuhan Flu.

At the same time Saudi Arabia and Russia decide to have an oil war that collapse prices. Add to that the global economy grinds to a halt.
US frackers and Canadian oil sand companies hardest hit. Stocks tank. For every seller there is a buyer. Who was buying?
Could someone come in and buy for pennies on the dollar?

Because of the oil price collapse US corn price is about to shrink substantially.
Did you know up to 40% of US corn goes into ethanol production as part of energy independence. (An ag daily market letter sent that to me yesterday. I didn’t think it was that high myself) The price and demand for ethanol has been falling in the last year or so. The byproduct is distillers grain that is animal feed.

Spring is here in western Canada and the USA seeding plans getting finalized. What to grow now???
How many farmers will be bankrupted by this cause/effect.
Who stands to gain in the short and long term.
Could someone come in and buy for pennies on the dollar?

Smithfield Foods temporaily closes a hog processing facility in North Dakota. 500+ local hog farmers lose their market and have hogs in the pipeline for production. How many farms are American owned. Any Canadian farms affected?
What about the trucking companies involved with specialized trailers?.
How can farmers pay feed companies?
How soon until they are ALL Bankrupt. I haven’t heard of any backstop to these any of these businesses.
There are at least 12 other animal facilities temporarily shuttered.

With the collapse in value of these businesses and food products who stands to gain??

How many Exchange Traded Funds and pension plans are pouring money into China? What do those Chinese companies really do with that money when no one can audit their books.

It’s called insider trading or gaming the system. China had the advantage for 2 months. Refusing to allow the CDC into Wuhan.
Kept all the info to themselves. People think it was to save face.
      Maybe but.

There will be an arm of the CCP with economists projecting the effects of the Wuhan flu on the world economy.
How many insider traders have you heard in the media ratting each other out?

And this is CCP China we are talking about here.
Life is cheap enough for live organ donation.
You dont get a slap on the wrist, you disappear.

      1. I’ve been wondering how much of our strategic resources, industries the chi-coms will be hovering up while we’re up to asses in the chi-com-covid swamp, dealing with Trudeau & co’s alligators.

        1. Start with a freeze on all Chinese asset purchases (stocks, bonds and companies) in Western Economies.

Cut off a couple or three heads of the Hydra

          1. Stop retirement funds and Banks from investing in China. Canada and the US will need those investment dollars going forward.
          2. If you are a straw purchaser for anyone in China the trade is unwound and your license is gone.
          3. Ban China from outright purchases of Canadian and US companies.

          Wont happen though.
As Lev on here says “who you gonna call??”

  6. And now the Liberal Party’s Saturday Toronto Star. Your most trusted source for taxpayer funded Liberal propaganda. Lots of stories that indians need more free stuff. More whiny residential school stories. Tony Burman continues to explain that Trump is committing crimes against humanity, and only China Joe Biden can save the world. More Trump is Hitler stories. The Star is excited that Shree has won awards from Amnesty International for her daily stories that Canadians are racist bastards. And don’t miss her story today that Canadians are racist bastards. Major story on how drag queens are handling the Trump virus. Reviews of the latest books by queer/transgender authors. Blackie is wonderful, the Liberal Party is wonderful, socialism is wonderful, Islam is wonderful, Canadians are racist bastards.

  7. Vietnam gains from China Flu.
    https://asiatimes.com/2020/04/vietnam-poised-to-be-big-post-pandemic-winner/?utm_campaign=Asia%20Times%20Weekly%2004%2F18%20%28XfGwMW%29&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Asia%20Times%20Weekly&_ke=eyJrbF9lbWFpbCI6ICJwamszZXNwZWNpYWxpc3RAb3V0bG9vay5jb20iLCAia2xfY29tcGFueV9pZCI6ICJKR2V2cXAifQ%3D%3D

Nobody likes the Chinese because they’re pricks.
    Satellites don’t lie.
When your Mekong dam is full of water and downstream countries are in drought it doesn’t make for friends.

  8. Here’s a Tip
for any city mayor or councillor or any uppity douche bag reading here and happy to keep their population locked up with the threat of huge fines backed by cops with guns:

When the nice warm weather comes restrictions better be lifted or there will hell to pay.
If you think families in tenements are going to put up with this shit all spring, then you’re a Full Retard.
And you know who many of these families are?
    That’s right, our diverth culturths.

You’ve been warned you fascist backholes.

  9. I’m sure everyone will be watching tonight, as celebrities and entertainers from around the world will be begging for money for China’s World Health Organization.

  10. Big Chief Gay Eagle With No Balls, announced in his daily rant today that he is giving over three hundred million dollars to whiny indian businesses. Now those illegal smoke shops can stay open, and of course the indians don’t have to report how they spend it because Blackie got rid of Harper’s accountability rules. In related news the media reports that tribes are going to court to stop construction of the Keystone pipeline that has begun.

  11. The media is excited that starting today Blackie The Gay Virus is launching a major advertising campaign using Canadian celebrities, including Peking Tam. Because apparently we need to be reminded again to wash our filthy hands and stay locked up.

    1. So I guess those moistifying ads by Prinz Dummkopf (or some git with a similarly irritating voice) at either end of a John Batchelor podcast aren’t enough?

  12. Something to think about. You may not agree with everything the author says, but it’s an interesting point of view.

Why Trump and Xi might both lose the corona wars

“No, however much Trump and Xi may clash over Covid-19, the winners in the short run are none of the above empires. The winners are the city-states. Of course, Israel, Singapore and Taiwan cannot punch that much above their weights; great power status is beyond their grasp. The question is who gains from this stunning demonstration that in a pandemic, small is beautiful.”

“A final reflection. As the data on Covid-19 mortality by age cohort shows, this is no virus for old men. When the dust clears in about 12 months’ time — when there’s a vaccine and therapies — the world will be half way to herd immunity anyway, because lockdowns are just intolerable for more than a couple of months. Between now and then, I fear, a lot of elderly and infirm people will be carried off early, along with many doctors and nurses, who are most exposed to the virus, plus a smallish proportion of plain unlucky younger people.”
