Seriously, though, the backpedaling and spinning from our intellectual and moral betters shouldn’t be all that surprising. Nor should be the nose-thumbing shamelessness in which it’s being done.
The flagging ratings of these outlets is proof the general populace has grown tired of the incessant punditry of these know-it-all’s which masquerades as itself as “news”. It’s not news, it’s opinionated posturing. The likes of CNN, MSNBC, the formerly big three broadcast networks and their compatriots up here in Canada and the ink-stained wretches on the print side in my increasingly unblinkered eyes have completely abdicated any and all claims to the word “integrity”.

The term “alternative facts” is being misused, perhaps deliberately. Kelly-Anne Conway used it in the literal sense. Why did media report facts detrimental to the POTUS and ignore “alternative facts” favouring the President.

“alternative facts”, there is no such thing. if a fact is not true then it is a lie. using language to obscure a lie is still a lie.
