A Few Numbers from DC

A fascinating vote was held in Washington, DC Tuesday evening. Here’s a summary of the story via some numbers:

57 – 0 The amount by which AOC’s Green New Deal lost in the Senate
43 The number of Democrat cowards who exist in the Senate
11 The level of anger, on a 1 – 10 scale, that AOC is likely feeling

  1. 11 The level of anger, on a 1 – 10 scale, that AOC is likely feeling

    – We can only hope. I fear I’ve little sympathy for Alexandria Ocasio-Clinton.

  2. The New Green Deal is simply AOC’s untrammeled ideological dreamscape; with no cogent thought put on how to reasonably get anywhere close to the ecological ‘Nirvana’.

In short, the Senate recognizes AOC’s new green deal as an ill considered non-starter brain fart.

    Cheers

    Hans Rupprecht, Commander in Chief
    1st Saint Nicolaas Army
    Army Group “True North”

  3. 57-0 is quite a number. None of them voted for it? Not one?

This is what is called a Washington b1tch-slap. Occasional-Cortex is being taught her place. New House members are supposed to sit still, shut up and vote as they’re told.

Can’t wait to see Occasional-Cortex’s next brave move, yelling at the old white men. Should be a beeauty.

    1. She’s simply a loud-mouthed twerp with delusions of grandeur and who, at her age, hasn’t grown up yet.

      1. My take-away? Don’t send a girl to do a woman’s job.

And if the girl is a spoiled SJW brat … RUN AWAY, and change all your phone numbers.

        1. “…and the waitress is practicing politics,
while the businessmen slowly get stoned.”

  4. Oh, dear….. the U. S. Senate has been, no doubt, bought by the gaseous bovine lobby…. And here I thought that cows were our friends….

  5. occasional Kotex….meet real world.

it (she) has also been punted from committee because of fiscal shenanigans.

pretty soon she’ll dawn a new set of knee pads

  6. Perhaps she has peaked too soon?

It will be interesting to watch her “career” over the next little while in the post-Russiagate political environment of Washington DC.

  7. So the paid actress’s script isn’t a hit at the box office er I mean senate floor. Oh well. Plenty more leftist brain cramps where that one came from.

  8. I want a free education, free day care, a good pension, free and excellent medical coverage, 100% free renewable energy, better buildings and a basic income program. I don’t want cows stinking up the air but I do want milk, cheese and yogurt.
I want the government to pay for all of this but I don’t want higher taxes.
    This is the AOC platform.

    1. Add to that: “Everybody should be well-paid for sitting on their backsides and doing nothing. Nobody should ever be required to work for a living.”

  9. LMAO…! 57-zip . Perfect.

    So much for occasional Kotex.
All I can say is take a good look at those eyes….they’re absent of anything but Extreme Psychosis ….

  10. AOC – like Trudeau is a puppet. She is expressing anger because she has been told to.

        1. One article said that George Soros was in part funding the group behind AOC. Just like he partially funded to the tune of $300 big ones to the group behind that crooked Chicago prosecutor.

      1. Where do you think her handlers stick their hands into the puppet? Yep. She’s a “sex Symbol” for the left. Sorry, not my type … in any way whatsoever. Yecch.

  11. ’11 The level of anger, on a 1 – 10 scale, that AOC is likely feeling’

Maybe. People like AOC are most comfortable when they can claim victim status and this will bolster her claim.
Her whole “new green deal” was her just staking out her bona fides. Now she’ll double down and say she won’t stop fighting.
It’s all just so boring and predictable and unachievable. That’s when the victimhood is bestest. When Fighting for a Fantasy.
And when she inevitably fails because it is unachievable, she’ll blame the realists and say they were meanies or worse.

  12. Don’t be so smug. A communists work is never done. AOC is young and has millions of young supporters who much prefer Socialism and Gov’t control to the free market and shared American dream. There’s a reason why Hillary or any Democratic candidate didn’t bring up AGW in any of her debates. It’s the same reason why 43 Democrat senators voted “Present” in this vote: they don’t want to lose votes. They still want the NGD.

    1. Exactly Martin. We can laugh at Cortez’s anger and discomfort, but this is deadly business and the danger is real.

It is no accident that increasingly we are seeing a barrage of activity by far leftist operatives like AOC and her Green New Deal, and Toronto city councilor Mike Layton and his push for Toronto to sue the oil companies for CO2 emissions. There are tons of other examples.

It is also no accident that increasingly Joe and Jane Sixpack are being brainwashed and manipulated by the media into accepting and supporting the AGW/Climate Change fraud. What Joe and Jane are not being told is that their standard of living will be reduced to that of a 3rd world status and Stone Age living. This is the largest assault on any civilization since the destruction of the Roman civilization.

Western liberal civilization is under assault from a darkness that equals the depth of the Dark Ages and from a growing 7th century ideological cancer.

      1. “this is deadly business and the danger is real”
I couldn’t agree more and the scary thing about AOC is her attitudes are not unique or a one off.
My cousin’s daughter for example has a list of science degrees a mile long. She was wooed by the oil & gas industry but chose to work for the Federal government because in her opinion oil & gas are destroying the planet. The fact that she and her cohorts in government will be developing policy for the next 35 plus years is alarming to say the least. Bleak but too real.
Western civilization stands at the precipice or in your words “a darkness that equals the depth of the Dark Ages”.

    2. And the push is still on here in Canada…..While driving this weekend, I accidentally landed on CBC radio for a few moments. They were promising an interview with an American college prof on the NGD. The byline was “Is it politically viable at this time?” Think about that. Politically viable….never mind that it is not economically or technologically viable – Ever. The only thing holding it back is politics (insert “blame Trumpers” meme).
And the words “at this time” should strike a chill into our hearts, and a provide a reminder to keep on fighting. The other side will not give up. The proponents of the other side (academia, media, politicians) are largely immune from the very real affects of the policies they espouse. That is why they have drifted into such unrealistic theories – no consequences for them; just a rich feeling of virtue signalling and a sense of purpose to life. We saved the planet!

  13. Lid retraction ie when the sclera(white part) shows above the iris, is a symptom of either hyperthyroidism, stimulant drugs or fear as it is mediated by the sympathetic nervous system. Why do so many Democrats look like this? AOC, Adam Schiff, Maxine, others…is there an epidemic. It really is not normal.

    1. Yes, I have noticed that and it is bizarre. almost maniacal.

My wife is getting tired and exasperated by my continually coming up with more epithets for Adam Schiff.

    2. I recently saw Theatre Calgary’s presentation of “The Scarlet Letter”, wherein Kristen Padayas did a wonderful performance as “Pearl”, the adultress’s mildly deranged daughter. The wide-eyed behavior reminded me so much of AOC that I had to choke back my laughter (not apropos during a drama).

  14. Other than the joy in seeing this motion roundly defeated, burned to ashes, and the earth under it salted, the one thing that struck me is that, even if every other Democrat voted “present”, bill-sponsor Markey should have voted “Aye”. If you’re not going to stand behind your sponsorship, it’s time for you to go away. Far away. Most of my other words on that are unprintable.

  15. Yes the so-called ideas she espouses are dangerous, but she has the brain of a gnat. A successful politician has got to be able to think on their feet, particularly when they lead a revolutionary movement as she claims to. She is simply the paid mouthpiece of probably Tom Steyer or some other Democrat billionaire. They have put their “ investment “ In a person who is likely not to survive the 2020 election cycle as an elected member of Congress.

  16. Actually, AOC is the one that encouraged the Dem Senators to vote “present.” She had no problem with that because the Turtle refused to allow hearings on the legislation (those are her words). Me, personally. I wasn’t aware that proposed legislation required hearings. Debate, yes. Hearings?

  17. Remember. Lenin was exiled to Siberia and then to Switzerland (for ten years). Stalin was exiled to Siberia, several times.

If there’s anything that collectivists like Lenin, Stalin, a certain Bohemian corporal, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez crave, it’s power and wealth at the expense of others via government.

For Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, her new sugar-daddy – the US Fed Govt – is the means of implementing her new source of power and wealth, that is, her cow farting Green New Deal.

For Barack Hussein Obama, it was the so-called Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”).

  18. “I want a free education, free day care, a good pension, free and excellent medical coverage, 100% free renewable energy, better buildings and a basic income program. I don’t want cows stinking up the air but I do want milk, cheese and yogurt.
I want the government to pay for all of this but I don’t want higher taxes.”
You’ve got it all wrong here Steve. No need for a good pension as the “basic income program” looks after that. After all the pension takes over AFTER you quit working and if you never worked-cause you don’t need to -well you see where I’m going.

  19. AOC: We only have 12 years to save the planet. Every moment counts. It’s time to stop talking and take action.

McConnell: Okay let’s have a vote.

AOC: Wait a second. Let’s talk about this. Voting on my plan is just a dirty political trick. Holding a vote is making a mockery of democracy.

  20. The only thing wrong with AOC’s approach to delivering what the entire institutional left now “believes” in is that she demonstrated her naivety in being up front and honest about it. She hasn’t learned yet that the fine art of politics is mastery of deceit. BC, for example is being run by a coalition led by two thoroughly deceitful assholes who would agree with everything AOC says but aren’t honest enough nor politically naive to blurt out. Power is achieved by those who, whether or not they actually agree with the successfully indoctrinated narrative, will pimp it never-the-less. AOC and the authoritarian hell she will impose is our collective future as long as the institutional left is the dominant cultural pathology.
