What makes this allegation different is that she claims to have a witness.
If this stuff is true, expect a flood of accusations in the very near future.
Clearly, she’s just looking for publicity for her failing publication. Unlike other women who come forward many years after an alleged incident, she cannot say, “Sometimes it takes women years to muster up the courage to come forward and name their abuser” because the last time this happened — in 2013 when she alleged Rob Ford groped her — she came forward IMMEDIATELY. So clearly, the “embarrassment, shame” and “mustering the courage to speak out” does NOT apply to her, as it does with other women, who have made similar accusations against other high profile men in media and who have taken years to come forward. The can be believed. She CANNOT because she’s shown she will make allegations RIGHT AWAY.
Why would she make claims against Ford as soon as the alleged incident happened but wait 8 years with Paiken?
She didn’t run for mayor of T.O. in 2010 because she actually believed she could win. She through her hat in the ring to get publicity for her failing publication… and she’s doing it again.
What happens when she’s invited into the studios of various Toronto news rooms? She will not only be introduced by her name, but the publication she is the editor of. And that’s her motive.

Yes, it can potentially have an effect on a future business relationship, but at some point people have to be able to separate their business lives from their personal lives. If she wanted it to be strictly business, she could have skipped the lunch and talked over the phone.
