Myself, I was in Indian Guides. “White Cloud” was my Indian name. Because I had curly blonde hair. Then they came out with “White Cloud” toilet paper. That was a sad day for me having my name being the butt of jokes from the rest of my “tribe”.
The Nazis shut down the Boy Scouts, and forced all the kids into the Hitler Youth and the Young Maidens’ Whatever. Perhaps everyone has been too busy promoting S.T.E.M. to remember history, art, music, and literature.

The irony is that the Scouts – both in the US and Canada – have been dabbling at the PC “inclusivity” game but to no advantage: for all those efforts, they’ve still been disparaged with the usual lazy reductio-ad-Hitlerum line regardless.
Boy scouts and cubs are okay for starters but kids should join army, sea or air cadets where their peers are the leaders. The adults hover in the background to offer guidance where needed unlike the scouts where the adults tend to call all the shots. We will need real leaders in the future and the cadet programme is a good place to start that grounding. And they ain’t the Hitler Youth!
I agree. I was in sea cadets in one high school and then army cadets in another high school. These were all great experiences for me.

The “old” Boy Scouts ? The REAL Boy Scouts ? They were great. I never ONCE worried that I would be molestered by my fellow Scouts, or diddled by my Scoutmaster.
My son and I joined Indian Guides when he was a sprout … however … my fellow Guides revealed their lack of any sense of humor when they frowned at my chosen “Indian name” … Swims with Beaver. The number of unhappy faces in the room caused us both to move on to the pre-Gayified Boy Scouts.

It was the pursuit of Castor canadensis that made Canada what it is today. Europeans might not have been so interested in coming here if it hadn’t existed here in such abundance.
In fact, the oldest company in Canada was established for just that purpose: the Hudson’s Bay Company (May 2, 1670). Look it up. It has quite an interesting history.

Remember, I believe it was Ben Franklin who advocated for the Turkey to become our national symbol. I contend, that if that had happened we would all be speaking German, or be a lampshade … choosing as a national symbol a flightless game bird that is easy to kill … sends the wrong message to the people.
