    …and not only are non-progressives not allowed to be happy or have unapproved fun ; we’re also not allowed to question the quasi- religious beliefs of progressives.     As an aside, a bar I went to regularly in my younger days used to call every one of their kitchen and bar cleanup guys Igor the kitchen geek. Thanks goodness it was the 90s and not a university kid bar or they’d surely have been visited by our modern day progressive morality squad. If anyone needs to check their priviledge, it’s the class-privileged brats (students and graduates) of humanities and social sciences. Think of it: cry bullies dedicated to eliminating class inequality and diversity got what’s likely the only working class guy within a kilometre fired for offending their delicate sensibilities with a funny joke job ad. Check your own damn priviledge for a change, progressives.

    She/he/xe/ze must be able to provide low cost, high quality food. The food must be ethically and locally sourced, carbon free, artisan whole food prepared in away that does not culturally appropriate dishes from any ethnic group.Food servers must be given a living wage but this should absolutely not increase the food prices in any way (we will be watching). The restaurant must have safe spaces preferably with play-dough, puppies and coloring books in case any customers feel they have been assaulted by everyday bigotry or micro-aggressions. This safe space must be free of cis, white males. We reserve the right to monitor all owners and staff for thought crimes or non-conformity and fire you without consultation or notice. Please include a short essay detailing your non-profit experience and political affiliations. Thank you for your application.

    That’s nothing new. When I was a grad student at UBC more than 35 years ago, I was my department’s representative at the Association meetings. Most of my fellow reps were self-serving pompous idiotic lefties. They didn’t take too kindly when I didn’t go along with their empty rhetoric by offering dissenting views.
    Even when I was working on my Ph. D. around 20 years ago, the GSA at the university I attended at the time always had the attitude that it knew better than someone like me. They, too, were a useless bunch of twits.

    To have any hope of saving her future she needs to apologize to Dobson for this over reaction, and allow him to carry on as before.

  23. I know Sandor; he’s a friend-of-a-friend. I sincerely hope he punches back on this but as a native son of the K-dub I expect that the WLU GSA won’t be budged. There’s basically no leverage anyone can bring to bear on them. The GSAs at WLU and U(W) have always been a special kind of disconnected from reality – they’re staffed entirely by arts post-grads, as the STEM faculties have their own post-grad associations.

  29. I hope hiring managers look into their background and discover their thin skin and dictatorial ways and decline to give them work….EVER.
    As I am responsible for hiring new grads (engineers) sometimes, I think a little investigation of their schools antics should be in order and ask them to justify THEIR student unions actions.
    I like tech school grads more anyways.

  37. I am now using threats of immediate fisticuffs to shut these @**holes up whenever I run into them. In my grandfather’s generation, anyone who tried to suggest they were cruel and at fault for beating the crap out of Germany, they’d have told you right quick to shut the f*** up or get your teeth smashed out of your head. It worked to keep a whole generation of us on the right path.
    I have started doing that with SJWs who cross my path. It is immediately clear they have never (a) been spoken to like that, or (b) been in a real fight. The immediate backpeddling is a spectacular thing to behold. There is a massive difference between conviction and fashion. A great many of them have never ever run into a physically robust defence of the opposite viewpoint. Try it, it works. Get your blood and passions boiling, and your mad all the way up….
