And Powell used an AOL address, meaning, by your logic, that Bush would be implicated. There are two issues; security and data retention. Email is not considered secure, so secure communications are supposed to go through a designated State intranet system. Nevertheless, at least some classified information was found on Powell’s computer system. As for data retention, use of a private email means that the user has to make an effort to retain state business records. A lot of Powell’s emails were never recovered.
The lesson is that government procedures are not keeping pace with technology, and people are making compromises in order to do their jobs, but that it may be opening up security risks.
Compare: Maxime Bernier does something similar and Harper fires him. Hillary does it, and the great machine protects her.
