If the public excuse for a tax is invalid, look for other reasons.
Premier Wall is right.
“Since 2010, B.C.’s GHG emissions have increased every year,” said economist Mark Lee. “As of 2013 they are up 4.3 per cent above 2010 levels.”
There goes the public excuse.

Carbon taxes or cap and trade are tools applied by green theocracies because they follow scripture, not because they actually mitigate the nonexistent problem of the production of CO2 which, given the reality of the importance of fossil fuels in Canada, is actually an indicator of economic activity. Ontario has decreased their “GHG emissions” and all it took was a declining economy. Canadians have voted for scripture not an economy.
I can’t believe the Leader-Post wrote that. Did “H” freeze over? Who knew?
What a joke, they tax the daylights out of us to feed the bureaucratic monster by calling it a feel good tax and the suckers fall for it. Everything has a green label on it, even bags of manure, and the people feel good in their illusion. Even my daughter-in-law in BC says yes, please tax me and I will feel so good.
Even Brad Wall and his government are not immune from this smoke and mirrors. What is it with the scam of 50% renewables by a pixie dust date. Just smarten up and build the small regional sized nuclear reactors and tell people like that wing-nut in Saskatoon where to shove it.
I was wondering what was going on with the BC carbon tax. That’s all CAGW activists wanted to talk about and then nothing, complete silence. Not exactly surprising the reason was that the data no longer fit the narrative. So much for evidence based policy making when the evidence becomes inconvenient. Kinda like: a carbon tax being revenue neutral, that it would create a social license for energy projects, that it would replace the other layers of green subsidies, fees, regulations. Every fairy tale activists told to the taxpayers meets the ugly reality. Economists pushing the carbon tax should hang their head in shame.
Here’s the only way for Saskatchewan to get around the new federal carbon tax:
Divide province’s total carbon emissions by the number of residents = average carbon consumption (ACC)
On the Saskatchewan income tax form do this:
Line 1234 – mandatory federal carbon tax – (ACC)x (number of people in household)x (federal carbon tax)
Line 1235 – YCKMG*, LPC Sask. Tax rebate – subtract amount from Line 1234.
Voila : a revenue neutral, zero administration and zero compliance costs and , according to the linked article, just as effective as BC’s carbon tax and rebate scheme.
*Mel’s Diner reference 🙂
I think we can all agree that if any other party than the Sask Party was in power, we would already have a carbon tax. Brad Wall and company have politely declined to join the idiot-fest and for that they should be commended.
AT every opportunity, I have been reminding people that usage is going UP, in BC, since implementation, save for the recession of 2008-2009. Of course, the Greentards use that small sample size as “proof” that the C Tax worked…..
Just this past few months, the C Tax was under review, by a group, including the Witch of Clayoquot, Tzeporah Berman, who has been hired by Red Rachel, I believe, to implement the Alberian C Tax. ANyways, the witch flipped her lid that CC has chosen not to increase the C Tax, most likely due to the upcoming election in 2017. Our gas is ridiculous enough here, $1.17/l, vs 86 cents in Redmonton.
The Greentards want to tax us out of existence. And the yutes and the ‘poor’ like it, because they get $133 quarterly cheques from Christy, “carbon tax credits”.
SHAM SCAM, BIG LIE, its just about wealth re-distribution
Bingo!
Brad Wall and the very vocal Vic Fedeli PC MPP for are still at the ‘we need to do something about climate change’ stage.
They need to get the facts, and stop trying to ‘please the enemy.’
all taxes that relate to CO2 or any form of carbon are a fraud. when a country or a province thinks that they can expand the population and industry and reduce carbon they are nuts. physics will not allow it.
Very very true. The money that was spent on wind farms and solar farms should have been spent on 3rd world contraception.(not a contraception fan)
However, CO2 is Not a pollutant, Global Warming stopped in 1998, and carbon fuels are not peeking.
