Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

A six year old Ontario boy is on a no-fly list. Right away when this story broke, the anti-Harper crowd in the comments section began spewing venom. True, a 6 year old boy should not be on a no-fly list because he’s Muslim. But in the intelligence world, reasons why things happen are not always made public. Could it be that the boy is being protected from questionable individuals who may be trying to harm him?? Twas just a thought.
I wish Stephen Harper and Ralph Klein were here. Been a rough 6 months in Alberta now that the libs and ndp have destroyed the oil patch. My son and I been out a work too long. First time in my life I ever had to collect EI benefits. My son is driving a school bus for a fraction of what he used to make.
Hats off to you!! You’re doing your best to survive. The sun will shine again, trust me! I was a truck salesman when the last recession hit Alberta. We were transferring units here into Saskatchewan; we were also in a recession. We bought them below wholesale. It didn’t take long that things turned around. Good luck, God bless!!
Before too long you’ll be singing this song by The Country Tigers.

MUST SEE interview: Who is the real Tommy Robinson?
(What is it like to live in land that originated British Liberty, Common-Law
and the Magna Carta, when those in power decide Brits will now live
without the rule of law? How long for it to come to Canada?
Actually, it already has started, it’s just a matter of degree.)

Bill, can you perhaps, being close to the oil business, explain the economists words when they bemoan the ‘fact’ that a LOW oil price is ‘bad’ for the economy? specifically, HOW a lower cost to a MAJOR input, ie the energy to keep your machines of production turning and MOST especially the corrosive costs to *transport* your goods to market. how is that? are economist sooooooooo focused on price of oil, thence ‘health’ of the oil *sector*, to the exclusion of EVERYONE ELSE?
‘bad fo’ da ecomommy’ ya right. according to the wall street money boys:
http://www.greentechmedia.com/articles/read/goldman-sachs-low-oil-prices-have-been-bad-for-the-us-economy-so-far
my counter to ANY argument supporting this view? easy. all that MONEY MONEY MONEY saved with LOWER oil prices is now (wait for it) available for a slew of other items. paying for factory repairs, paying down a loan, paying for a new hire (ooo! job creation! baaaaaaaad fo’ da ecomommy!) etc et friggin CETERA.
this just in, more mcwynne shyt to get outraged over:

is it true ontariariario lieberals are aiming for a consumer hydro rate at least 35 cents KWH?
gubbamint is just another form of bullying.
Wynne government recently sold electricity to States like Michigan for a half cent a kilowatt hour that cost us 17 cents thanks to green energy contracts. Meanwhile half of Niagara Falls capacity is not being used.

Jobs and spin-off jobs to begin with.
Everyone bemoans the “Rich” Oilfied workers making all that money that they will never see, yet they never account for the well paid people from catering services to geologists, accountants, HR administration, lawyers and an endless supply of third party services that make up the bulk of the oilfield infrastructure.
No jobs, no tax’s, and fewer shoppers = not good news for service sector economies.
Otherwise here is a further take……………..

Economic math: You saving $20.00 a month at the pump is not the same thing as a $200,000.00 single job loss within the economy or tax coffers.
When are we going to fight against our commie loving dear leader’s plan to change our voting system?
This is the ultimate in arrogance and if and when he tries to do it we need to demand it be taken to the GG and on to London to put a stop to it. This is a democracy, the people need a say via referendum on this drastic change proposed by a PM who more than 60% did not vote for.
AGW RIP.

“Here is some good news for drought-stricken California; the latest forecast model output from WeatherBell suggests that the Sierra Nevada snow-pack will get a fresh dump of up to 10 feet of snow.
The Sierra snow-pack has already been reported as above normal (at 136 percent of normal) in the most recent snow survey conducted by the California Department of Water Resources.”

“Romancing the Sunni: A US policy tragedy in three acts; Act I”
[Angelo Codevilla]
“Lifting the veil
Today, as Daesh/ISIS — a sub-sect of Sunni Islam — murders and encourages murdering Americans, our foreign policy establishment argues that doubling down on efforts to “gain the confidence” of Sunni states, potentates, and peoples will lead them to turn against the jihadis among themselves and to fight Daesh with “boots on the ground.”
For more than a quarter century, as Americans have suffered trouble from the Muslim world’s Sunni and Shia components and as the perennial quarrel between them has intensified, the US government has taken the side of the Sunni. This has not worked out well for us. It is past time for our government to sort out our own business, and to mind it aggressively.”

Sadly, olllllldd rockers with failing voices, full figures, and leftist politics don’t sound nearly as brilliant as their original selves. Unplugged or not, Rogers is too far past his prime to be performing in public. Is it for his ego ? The Taxman ? Or numerous baby mamas ?
In a way your 2nd post answers the question you pose in your first post or to paraphras:
In the long run why won’t low oil prices help the economy?
Oil an gas have been the drivers of the economy for over 100 years but we now have stupid governments in Ontario and elsewhere that believe we can move beyond oil simply by putting up bird shreaders and jacking up electricity prices to the point where every widget maker heads for the hills or closes.
As the price of oil drops; in Ontario electricity prices continue to rise.
Long story short; this is not 1974. The widget makers have relocated to China and India aided and abetted by clueless green government.
The Justine government’s Openmouthed leader with Lockjawed MP.

“The standoff at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, in Oregon’s Harney County, began Saturday with a peaceful protest in nearby Burns. According to the Portland Oregonian, the state’s largest newspaper, about 300 militiamen from several states marched through town and threw pennies at the local sheriff’s office before a smaller group, including the Bundy brothers, broke off and drove south to capture the empty building.”
