#NotACult

There’s blood in them thar stones.

Pricing carbon is a current Canadian reality, with provinces representing almost 80 per cent of the population either already imposing some kind of carbon levy or in the process of doing so.

I’ll note that the article refrains from noting the reduction of carbon-dioxide (damn, that irritates me, it’s not &^^%&**ing carbon) so far. Wouldn’t it logically follow then that there was a distinct reduction given the large majority of population and industry were under carbon-dioxide pricing scheme?

  1. Those damn diamonds are 100% carbon, surely such concentrated poison should never be dug out of the kimberlite.
Only by leaving it buried in the pipes can the environment be saved.
I think Saskatchewan and Alberta are going to have to amalgamate with Northern BC and Alaska just to protect the wilderness.
Without sufficient atmospheric CO2 the trees will die.
Save the trees buy a flame thrower.
    Captcha is beyond belief.

  2. Hey Lance,
I’ve asked the AB govt and the con persons at CanWEA how much CO2 has been reduced because of Alberta’s wind turbines. THEY DO NOT KNOW! WTF!? CO2 reduction is why they exist and the eco fascist, criminals don’t know?! We are forced to pay for new transmission lines to carry wind electrons; we help pay for duplicating facilities (i.e. the turbines.) Carbon levies, wind turbines, ridiculous “green” electricity schemes, royalty review…we are going to get screwed.
THE PERFECT STORM: Trudeau, Notley, that smarmy Greenpeace twerp, Shannon Phillips and green weenie McKenna. And the Joker, Kat Wynne. She looks like The Joker .. just more evil.
We are in BIG trouble. Big trouble.
How in God’s name did Alberta’s vote in the NDs? We understand the idiots in T.O. voting for the castrated Pony. But Alberta?
Gonna be a LONG 4 years. I pray I live long enough to see sanity return.

  3. What portion of Canada’s atmosphere is naturally occurring CO2, what portion comes from man made sources, and what portion comes from made made sources outside of our boundaries?? Lightning strikes 100 miles south of the Alberta–Montana boundary and a huge forest fire breaks loose! Who pays for the added CO2? A refinery in Regina produces diesel fuel for farmers in North Dakota, who pays for the CO2?
Wake up Canada–this is a tax racket! Only a Quebec Liberal could have conspired something this corrupt! This beats SPONSORGATE!

  4. Those idiots who demand CO2 be banned or rugulated are living in the little of Stupidland their onlt kidding themselves becuase CO2 is Plant Food not a poulutant

  5. So what exactly is a carbon tax? A tax that taxes CO2 emissions, or things that are produced by the use of CO2 emissions.
Gasoline taxes are a carbon tax.
    Oil royalties are.
    Liquor taxes are.
The GST is. So is your PST, should you have one.
Energy taxes are, even for renewable energy sources, because wind turbines & solar panels are manufactured using fossil fuels.
In short, every tax is a carbon tax, in a carbon-based economy. Which sort of makes the term meaningless. It’s just another word for tax.
Here’s the real question: do governments produce more CO2 emissions with their use of one tax dollar, than the rest of the economy does?
It might just be that tax rates correlate positively with carbon emissions. It would be an interesting study.

  6. “The pain isn’t felt evenly, of course. While just a small fraction of Canadian economic activity by GDP is exposed, the study found that in Alberta and Saskatchewan 18 per cent of the provincial economy is exposed, compared with two per cent in B.C., Nova Scotia and Ontario and one per cent in Quebec.”

  7. Let’s tax breathing, it won’t affect our productivity.
What a lying “study” piece of propaganda.

  8. The article seems focused on getting us to swallow a carbon tax. No mention of the industries that are affected – Hydro One in Ontario, the oil & gas industry, the mining industry, agriculture, manufacturing.
They did a short study in Oakville and found the Ford plant, the region’s largest single employer with 3,500 jobs, is the largest polluter. Ontario, at a time when the province is hoping to increase manufacturing, will be taxing manufacturing, mining and taxpayers the most, leaving service companies alone. Go Wynne!

  9. I predic tthey will not introduce a “carbon tax” but a “cap and trade” scheme which offers much more opportunity for graft and corruption, which is what the liberals are all about.

  10. Yeah, they seem pretty neutral:

    THE WAY FORWARD
The question is not if Canada needs to lower greenhouse gas emissions, but rather when and how. The answer is now—through provincial carbon pricing.

  11. So why are they sucking out so many Third World “natures caregivers” as they can to create new Carbon Criminals in the West?
Sort of counter productive to saving the eco-system yes?

  12. If it is not significant then it will not change behavior, or how people live. If it does not really effect people, then it’s only goal is to raise more taxes, make people few good about themselves for doing nothing and/or make PM Selfie popular in Paris this December.
Too bad that they did not teach about the the benefits of photosynthesis when/where PM Selfie went to school.

  13. Why would we carbon tax Alberta oil and gas industry? We export most of it and someone else burns it creating CO2. Carbon should be taxed at the pump and on the utility bill and otherwise as close to the consumer as is reasonable if the point is to influence behavior.

  14. They are your “replacements”. They will out breed you & displace white, anglo-saxon, judeo-christian society at your expense, while they ram the “New Low Carbon Economy” down your throats. Expect to freeze or starve depending on when your job runs out, or the price of living exceeds your capacity to pay for it.
