  12. Little Ahmed’s clock was not any great work of creativity. He did not build the clock from scratch, nor did he buy a kit (readily available for a few dollars) and solder a bunch of components onto a board to make a clock. He simply gutted a store-bought clock and mounted the guts of it in a “pencil case”, making a pretty good facsimile of a time bomb, leastwise as such are depicted in countless movies and TV shows.
    It was more a case of “deconstructing” a clock than of making one, and given the kid’s family background and religion, only a total fool would believe this stunt is anything other than a deliberate provocation intended to provoke an over-reaction by the school authorities.
    And this Sikh goof is a goof. A disgrace to his co-religionists. That clock of his dirty, isn’t it?

    DAYR AL-ZAWR, Syria — Syrian teenager Sami Halaseh was beheaded for occultism yesterday after he built a clock and and brought it into his bomb-making school, according to The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
    The 9th grader at former Ali Ibrahim Mohammad Secondary Madrasa was accused and convicted of creating a digital clock from a U.S. Meal Ready to Eat (MRE) box at his English-speaking Jihadi academy, sources said.
    Witnesses – who did not wish to be identified – claimed that that it was a simple but unfortunate misunderstanding after the “Jihadi prodigy” brought a revolutionary new IED to school – an invention he called a “time-bomb.” Sources report that Halaseh had been working on it since the U.S. Air Force over-shot a Sinjar Mountain resupply drop by over 250 miles last year.
    “They immediately reacted as if it were a clock,” one source said. “He just kept saying: ‘It’s not a clock. It’s a bomb!’ But they didn’t believe him.”
    Instructors originally grew suspicious after Halaseh did not publicly denounce the “whiz-kid” title his classmates bestowed upon him in their “Basic IED” class. For his tacit usurpation of Allah’s rightful authority as “the one, true God,” instructors imprisoned Halaseh for his insolence. It was at the end of many torture sessions instructors finally analyzed the otherworldly device, and noticed numbers moving sequentially, when they assumed the worst.
    “Even when they hung him from the ceiling and beat him with broomsticks, he was adamant that it was a bomb all the way until the end,” the source said.
    The Islamic State, which beheaded four other heretics earlier this summer, officially stated that they will not tolerate any device that attempts to understand or quantify the will of Allah, even if it means measuring the span of events or periods between them.

    I understand that the kid will be a guest at the White House. Obama seems to have a thing for getting involved in local matters. This is the third time that I am aware of his jumping in. Turns out he was in the wrong in the first 2 cases (1. the Massachusetts professor and 2. his son Treyvon) ……. so what will the outcome be in this one?
    Having said that, I personally believe this was a nonsense arrest. What law (not school policy, many of which are totally absurd) was broken? None is the answer.

  36. I blew up zoomed in on the image and then measured the location of the minute hand. The time seems to be about 9:11 and 30 seconds – it definitely isn’t 9:13 as the Sikh professor claims.

    First of all, the “brief case” was tiny. It had some wires, a motherboard, and a digital display. No dynamite. No plastic explosive. No mysterious liquids or anything that upon the most basic examination should lead you to believe that it was in fact a bomb or hoax bomb. And then there is the fact that he kept saying it was a clock.
    But no. You people poop your diapers and insist there is some conspiracy at work here. Honestly… I know racists can’t see when they’re being racist so it’s pointless to argue with you blockheads, but still. This takes the cake.

  45. Here is the meat of how to turn an alarm clock into a bomb. It’s not something you can do 20 mins before you go to bed.
    In April 1985, a Canadian familiar with blasting was asked by Reyat how much dynamite it would take to blow up a tree stump. Another friend who listened in recalled that Reyat was very agitated about “getting even for the sacrilege at Amritsar, he was almost talking like Hitler.”[30] Reyat was not shy about telling everyone he knew around Duncan about the need for revenge, or asking about explosives. Reyat sought cases of dynamite and did not care if he had to pay three times the normal price. He eventually confided it was not about stumps, but “trouble in the old country”, that he needed “explosives to help my countrymen.”[30] One friend declined to get him dynamite, but did lend him a 400-page manual on mining with explosives.[30]
    On 8 May 1985, Reyat bought a Micronta digital automobile clock at the Radio Shack store in Duncan.[31] Designed for a 12-volt automobile electrical system, it could also be powered by a 12-volt lantern battery. The 24-hour alarm activated a buzzer, but he returned a week later for an electrical relay after asking how to get the buzzer signal to power another device. Wiretappers recorded nine telephone calls between Parmar’s residence in Vancouver and Reyat from either his residence or workplace on Vancouver Island that month, which got Reyat added to the list of persons being monitored for terrorist activities.[32] The Canadian government would later accuse Reyat of lying in 2003 when at first he said he did not know what three clocks he had bought could be used for. He later said Parmar needed an explosive device to blow up a bridge or something large in India, and that he needed timers for an explosive device. In that case, the relay could be used to trigger the detonator circuit for a blasting cap which would provide the initial shock needed to detonate larger explosives such as dynamite.[20][21]
    Reyat later visited a television repair shop with a partially disassembled car clock wired to a lantern battery. He needed help so that the buzzer stayed on rather than intermittently beeping, so that it would turn on a light in his camper to wake him up. The repairman knew his friend did not own a camper, and it would even strike Justice J. Raymond Paris at Reyat’s 1991 trial as an odd use for a timer.[33]
