The hothouse solar industry, in general built on subsidies and hype, is known for throwing up huge companies that quickly fall apart. The last two companies to become the world’s largest makers of solar panels have both since gone into bankruptcy; now the third to hit the number one spot may face the same fate.
Two days ago I drove past what used to be Solyndra. Impressive building. Built with “free” money from Obama’s government. Political price to him for this massive failure = Zero.
The building is now occupied by Seagate.

The whole point of these exercises is failure. By heaping
government grants on campaign donors, the money is being
given to people not known for their expertise in the field,
but by their loyalty to the Democrat party.
If someone tells me that they will will give me a half
billion dollars, I will spend just enough to make a few
thousand panels by spending say, 200 million. I will
then proceed to lose the other 300 million (On paper,)
and declare bankruptcy. Not bad for a few million
in political donations.
This is the same reason the Obongo administration spent
some 600 million on a healthcare web site that failed to
work. The money always seems to go to Democrat donors.
In any other time, the Democrat party would be charged
with racketeering under the RICO statutes!
This solar company collapse after devouring billions of taxpayer dollars is the American copy, written in large, of our own Liberal boondoggle, ADSCAM. Remember Chretien’s quote “What’s a million here or there.” And while I’m on the subject remember the Liberal Gun Program, it was going to be self costed after the first 2 million and it went through the roof at 1 billion. Now we’re approaching the October election and the Liberals are running neck and neck with the NDP who are going to re-instate the Gun Registry and provide $15.00 and hour basic wage, a $15.00 a day day-care program and unlimited access to ‘refugees’ (read jihadists here) and they are going to do it on the backs of Canadian taxpayers. The same taxpayers who are lining up for healthcare, who see the standard of education falling through the floor on a daily basis, and are having a hard time paying for heating, food, clothes and a myriad of other expenses as they approach retirement. No wonder Elizabeth May said that Canadian taxpayers are stupid.
