A “mistake” is calling someone “Mr. Smith” when he’s actually “Mr. Smyth.” Saying–or tweeting–“Go blow your brains out” is not, in any normal sense of the word, a “mistake.” It is a deliberately wicked and hateful act. It seems unreasonable to suggest that the passage of four short years sundered the connection between the verbally violent person who posted that and the present political candidate.
