That is so cool. Rather think my mother (RIP) would have appreciated it. She was a teacher in the late ’20s and early ’30s before heading off to be a nurse. Have forwarded on to a teacher I know.
This is great. I forwarded it to my teacher son-in-law.
Yeah I’m dating myself, but I was one of the last to complete elementary school in a 1 room school house (1950’s). Water and flush toilets were installed about 1955….before that a hand pump outside and chemical toilets. Periodically a fella came around and showed movies (NFB educational)
What is now called “cursive writing” was mandatory from grade 3 forward.
I recall one of the “games” during school hours was for the teacher to divide the 20-30 kids into two homogenous teams (a mix of all 8 grades).
She would arbitrarily (no consideration/favouritism as to the age or individual) name a country or major city anywhere in the world, and the head of each line would proceed to the big world map and put the pointer on the designated place.
I recall now with awe how grades 2-3 could zero in on places like Andorra and Islamabad.
Ahh the old blackboard and writting on the blackboard and the finger nails on the blackboard(Akk)and the sticks of chaulk
Priceless. Thanks Kate!

You don’t want to mess with Miss Morrison.
