Palm Beach County’s unwanted dogs and cats are more likely to die if rescue groups keep importing animals from other counties and states, local officials warned Tuesday.
The county’s animal shelter near West Palm Beach gets 15,000 dogs and cats a year that are at risk of being euthanized if they aren’t adopted.
Finding homes for local shelter animals is made harder by well-meaning rescue groups continuing to have unwanted dogs and cats trucked and flown into Palm Beach County for adoption events, according to county officials.

The solution might be to mandate the Humane Society takes care of the rescues from other nations. That way they can euthenize them in the other counties and everyone will be happy. Except the animals, who will be dead.

Why is that I suspect these “rescues” are contracting out to 3rd world puppy mills?
Is there anything these folks won’t stick in their mouth

Seems weird to be confiscating the food of poor people in Asia just to exterminate it(Waste it) in USA.
This is the brilliance of mindless do-gooder of the likes of People Eating Tasty Animals.
Or are they still trying to find the perfect cut of dog for their master?
So a dog is saved. Who cares where it comes from. All dogs speak dog. there is only one doggy culture.
I moved from Palm Beach County a decade ago. In my neighborhood at that time the yellow lab was the main breed. I live there again now half the year, the pit bull is now the main dog. I took my black lab to the vet several times after an unfortunate mishap with a car (he is fine now) and every time I went there was somebody’s dog being treated for wounds from bites from another dog.
So sure, “rescue” a pit bull rather than buying a breed that meets your requirements and fits in with your family. You can take your other pets to the vet in your Toyota Pious and feel superior to everybody. It will be great fun!
