  1. Oh, Lord. There go my already high Ontario Hydro bills. Guess that means meatless days.

  2. “But we will be saving the planet for the children. Think of the children.”
    Stupid bitch.
“But we will be saving the money for our buddies. Think of the liberals.”

  3. Well, there’s one election plank for the PC’s.
Oh, silly me, they’re too busy fighting amongst themselves to give a shit.

  4. Great opportunity for Liberal cronies and like minded shysters.
So why a “cap and trade” rather than a tax.
    1. Hard to be popular with a tax.
    2. C & T requires a whole new phalanx of bureaucrats, all loyal Liberals.
    3. The opportunity for Liberal cronies to make loadsa-dough.

  5. “Electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”
    #hopeandchange
This in an age where the arrow of causality has been conclusively demonstrated to run from temperature to CO2 concentration, rather than the reverse.
And liberals condemn conservatives for “religious thinking”.
Speaking of religion, let the exodus commence.

  6. Cap and trade doesn’t work. There always seems to be and endless supply of carbon credits that has destroyed every carbon market ever attempted. The bureaucrats will be in charge and I suspect it will work a lot like the Soviet Union. Hard times ahead.

  7. According to Morontariowe’s Carbon Cap website, greenhouse gasses are now pollutants. And of course, carbon dioxide is the most prevalent greenhouse gas – you know, the one they want to regulate.
Considering that oxygen and carbon are the two top constituents of the human body – 65% and 18.5% respectively, perhaps a good way to kick off the Carbon Cap & Trade program would be to cap and trade Wynne and her cronies, then for good measure, toss in Gore, Suzuki and Mann.
    Morons.

  8. $500 per second borrowed in Ontario, credit rating going down, she already has a plan to spend everyone’s pension money, but that’s not nearly enough, she needs to dig deeper into people’s pockets.

  9. Ontario elected this freak of nature and now you can enjoy your looming poverty as a province. Socialists are destroyers of everything.

  10. Great googly-moogly! – this will be Wynn’s political albatross – Carbon taxing (actually a productivity surcharge) producers will inflate the cost of everything from home heat to food toelectronics to any good trucked to market – business (at least what is left of it after the mass exodus) should take every opportunity to remind the public of the source of every increased price.

  11. Finally a stake to drive into the Librano vampires – From this point forward COL inflation has a visible cause.

  12. So what are the doing about the worst greenhouse gas – water vapour – which is as much as 72 % of total greenhouse gasses. White people have gotten a lot stupider in the last 50 years. China is going to have all the manufacturing in the world because, while we try to get rich trading fairy farts, they are going to making everything without regard to CO2.

  13. ” China is going to have all the manufacturing in the world because, while we try to get rich trading fairy farts, they are going to making everything without regard to CO2.”
That’s OK…after these malevolently STUPID leftists get finished with us we won’t have any economy left and China’s manufacturing behemoth will grind to a halt. Environmental disaster averted!

  14. OH MY F’IN LORD!….. I am some what perturbed by this announcement, egads I wish I could move…….

  15. Is it possible for my farm or township in southwestern Ontario to secede from Ontario and perhaps amalgamate with a more sane provincial administration? Will the Indian reserves face self similar restrictions? After all, the climate respects no boundary. Sigh.

  16. Interprovincial transfer payments must end. They are softening the political weigh of failed policies enacted by provincial governments from impacting the policy makers. These types of policies must be allowed to directly and perceptibly accrue to the accounts of the policy makers and impact the people who voted for these politicians without being cushioned by transfer payments from other provinces.

  17. As a resident of Ontario, this really sucks. I just hope that the residents of this province will see how much money it will take from our wallets and vote against Trudeau who is proposing similar measures. A boy can dream, right?

  18. Elections have consequences, the good thing is that in a few years, this cupid stunt will be remembered as fondly as Bob Rae. When every librano appatchick sees their hydro bill and learns that the value of their house went to crapper it will be time for some serious schadenfreude.

  19. Oz, you nailed it. More prosperous areas are already paying more, via personal income tax. Transfer payments are just WelfareX2.

  20. The smelter at Sudbury is greenhouse gas exempted
What is Ontario going to trade
Justine will insist that Alberta pay into the pot

  21. 1. The largest emitter of carbon (equivalent) in Canada is Ontario Power Generation (OPG).
    2. Dofasco is Ontario’s second largest emitter, about 20% of OPG’s rate.
    3. Ontario’s energy mix is about 60% nuclear, 28% renewable and 12% natural gas.
    4. The only real way for Ontario to reduce its Greenhouse Gas Emissions is for OPG to shut down its natural gas plants.
    5. Quebec Hydro’s energy mix is essentially 100% hydro electric – clean, renewable and reliable.
My opinion is that Wynne is about to close down the remaining fossil fuel plants in Ontario (mostly gas) and import hydro electricity from Quebec. This will cost a lot of jobs but will certainly satisfy the green monsters as OPG will be 100% renewable and no company in Ontario will be able to point to the Ontario government as being hypocritical. The fact that Ontario has now joined Quebec in its commitment to reduce carbon output only reinforces my belief.
Of course there will be a fee…

  22. C’mon Kate. That fat softball lob is just hanging there waiting for you to ‘Amuse yourself’ with a zinger tweet!

  23. How does it feel to be the Lab Rats for the UN Communist State?
How deep does the Knife cut before self preservation kicks in?
Yep! Canadians are an experiment in stupidity. Suck it up!

  24. I’m so pissed off right now that I think I’ll wait and ingest a few more beers before I write to her and her stupid Environment Minister. That way I’ll be just downright nasty. Unfortunately, I have a job that is non-transferable so I can’t get out of here. Not sure where I would go anyway…
I might even sign up for Twitter, which I have been avoiding since its inception, just so I can send Fat Al a response. FRIG!

  25. Not surprised. Wynne desperately needs more money for her perverted social agendas and a tax on nothing is the ultimate dream for all politicians. Those cucumbers young children use to practice putting condoms on aren’t cheap and bigger, better pride parades come with a pricetag. Then there’s windmills. Lots of windmills. It’s all of what the majority voted for. Toronto and a few other large cities once again showing how progressive they are and everyone else , well, ……too bad. The last industry to leave Ontario, please turn out the lights. Electricity is very expensive.

  26. Of limousine liberals: the Gritty plan – saving Canada one billion tax dollars at a time. Justin, arm and arm with the premiers of Ontario and Quebec on cap and trade, and apparently with another bastion of fiscal restraint and energy prosperity – California. The only question remaining is how they’ll get the western provinces (the ones without subsidized economies) to pay for it:
    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/industry-news/energy-and-resources/why-cap-and-trade-schemes-are-little-more-than-a-cash-grab/article23894822/
Answer: by sweeping Ontario, especially metro TO, where the Grits poll 50%; but wait, in the perhaps decisive 905 belt, the Tories are at 44%, with outlying areas now a Wynne wasteland. Good luck with that bunch Justin. It’s tough to see how the Grits will pick up many new seats in Ont or QC, even with the help of the “popular” premier Wynne – of course excepting the non metrosexual rubes; she’s also struggling with the lumbersexual vote I understand – and assuming the NDP actually decide to take the election off:
    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/federal-liberals-poised-to-make-great-election-gains-in-ontario-poll-finds/article23892369/comments/
The comments are extremely humorous. Anyway, good luck with that; taxes are rarely a good election platform, unless they can somehow con Canadians into believing this will be “revenue neutral.” How that is possible with government administering it? For instance, how many tons of CO2 should we start with as a baseline? Too many, taxes taken out of economy, too little, productivity taken out of the economy, just right, higher cost of government unless we have some dollar a year environmentalists out there? No? Didn’t think so.

  27. Contrary to popular belief, not everyone in Ontario is f*cking stupid, just the majority of voters. Already one of the highest electrical rates in North America, we let water bypass the generators at Niagara Falls so we can subsidize the liberal windmill machine. This province is a lost cause. I honestly wish I could leave this socialist hellhole.

  28. Let’s do a Cap and Trade offer with any political jurisdiction in North America.
You Cap our taxes and we’ll Trade Kathleen Witch to you.
You get a Wynne and Ontario gets a win.

  29. Anyone remember at what point in the last election Wynne promised to bring in a carbon taxing system?
    Bet Wynne doesn’t either.

  30. Wynne and her desperately bankrupt policies will soon experience the effect that any increase in taxes will be met by an economic shrinkage that will nullify her revenue expectations. Ontario is very close to the economic end game of leviathan. What comes next, sovereign default?, federal bail-out (only with a Liberal PM)? or increased fascism and police state to halt the flight of capital? Green Window Dressing in the form of Cap and Trade will get her SFA.

  31. It’d be swell of the western provincial governments to simply advertise in Ontario and Quebec, their lower tax rates, their lack of an additional tax and trade tax scheme, and lets the cards fall where they may if small businesses and manufacturing decide to make the trek west.
and lobby the federal gov’t hard to end the federal welfare system known as “equalization”
I know there’s a large number of conservative people in Ontario and Quebec, come west, there’s room, and work for you here. Just don’t bring your neighbors that had the red Liberal signs out front in the last election.

  32. WALLY: Add in California to this fairy tale with US$ 20,449 debt per person and you’ve got quite the bankrupt trio.
What a bunch of frigging morons.

  33. I’d like to suggest going one step further marc. Here in Saskatchewan we still have a lot of lefties (after 60 years of socialist governments) and you seem to be getting a lot of the “comrades” in Alberta. We’ll do a swap, trade one western lefty for one Ontario conservative. The trade ratio is open to negotiation.

  34. A little tweet flattery from Archbishop Gore! I be the gets a cut of he collection plate.

  35. robw – Thanks for the offer. Please sign me up. I so hate the current situation here in Ontario as it stands. I only wish I could relocate – in fact I’m going to look into it this week. I said earlier that I am not transferable at work but that may just be negotiable.
Also, further to my earlier comment, I just sent a note to Glen Murray and the Crypt Keeper. I’ll probably never hear back. Or maybe get arrested. Stay tuned….

  36. Can’t be emphasized enough, voting on election day can have consequences. The premier of Toronto now presides over the most ideological extremist regime in Ont’s history. Provinces like nations have financial tipping points, think of Greece or Spain or even California. Wynne’s actions are destined to put Ont firmly in that group. Also difficult to exaggerate the damage a person like Wynne can accomplish in 6 years.

  37. Fair trade robw, I grew up in Regina, spent 35 years there… loads of good memories.

  38. Oh, and I hope all those brain damaged idiots who decided to stay home during last election and not to vote to Hudak because he wasn’t conservative enough will be first to lose their jobs and homes.

  39. My MPP Tracey MacCharles is getting 4 bags of bbq charcoal dumped on the front step of her office tomorrow.

  40. Not to worry the big manufacturers are leaving Ontario
The load will be reduced soon
Jobs schmobs who needs em when you can attend pride parades
How does 3% of the population steal the agenda?

  41. Yes, Steve, it’s also about sucking off Quebec, which is why Ontario isn’t doing this on its own.

  42. I’ve said it here before, there was a time in Canada when leaders ran for public office after they had displayed an exemplary private life, a life that could be judged. Now we get the likes of JT, Mizz May, and the present premier of Ontario, and we wonder why this country is in the mess that it is! These are the people that want to run your life and between them they couldn’t organize a birthday party for an orphan. Liars, thieves, and hypocrites all, and the greater majority of Canadians will continue to vote them into office instead of running them out of town on a rail! When will we wake up and get out the pitchforks and torches!

  43. Well, looks like it’s time to start investing in “Plan B”. Time to shed a few things and people and shake the dust off my feet.

  44. If any of you Ontario residents has a chaste, attractive, Christian daughter under 25 who is also looking to escape the province…
Kidding. Maybe. Depends on the amount of applications received.
