Michael Totten: The gunman sent a message, but it wasn’t received. And we know he was monitoring the news in real time. He was directly across the street from an Australian news channel. He wanted attention, but he was not getting the attention he wanted. Reporters couldn’t even figure out who he was when he clearly identified himself and his ideology.

  5. The media is becoming increasingly shrill and uneasy. They fear that any day now some unstable redneck will kill some poor innocent just because they are a Mooselimb.
    Which would be so, SO much worse than the Mooselimbs who have killed… what is it now, thousands?… of people for being Christians. Or the wrong kind of Mooselimb, as seen in Pakistan today.
    Why would it be worse? Because it would mean that one unstable redneck had escaped their web of control, that’s why. The single drop that heralds the breaking of the dam.
    I think they are right to be worried. Their Liberal multiculti experiment is one of the three major pains in the @ss this country has to offer. The other two are confiscatory taxation and gun control.
    I’m one of the most tolerant people around, I don’t care what anybody’s religion, culture or skin color is. But I have to admit I make an exception for Mooselimbs. Those guys are starting to p1ss me off.
    Because unlike the Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists, Shintos, Jews, Mormons, Jehova’s Witnesses and freaky New Age whackadoodle hippies, Mooselimbs are determined I’m going to do it THEIR way.
    Dear Mooselimbs: I’m not going to do it your way. I’m prepared to insist. When my time comes I hope to die as well as Mr. Tori Johnson.

    Instead of “The gunman…” why doesn’t he use “The muslim terrorist…”? Be clear about what it is we are all dealing with in these instances.

  10. About 1 minute into CBC coverage yesterday, I mused about how long before the “Lone Wolf” defense would appear, when it happened. If nothing else, after Styen’s brilliant parody of the Amalgamated Union, the liberal media need a new description. Perhaps they don’t read Steyn, and that is to their disadvantage,
    Clearly some answers are needed from Australian authorities as to why this creature was walking around free. Worse than a home grown terrorist, he was a welcomed refugee. Given the charges against, wouldn’t a return to the country he came from be appropriate? Who exactly ponied up the bail for the murder complicity rap; doesn’t appear his earnings would be that great.

  11. I’m not sure how CBC insulted me more last night; trying to push the “He was mentally ill and we don’t know why he did this” schtick, or the segment about the asinine #illridewithyou hashtag and how wonderful it was that people were sticking up for Muslims.
    I’m getting really, really sick of Muslims killing people, and being told by newsmen that I’m just supposed to sit back and not call their religion out for the murderous barbarous enemy of Western civilization that it is, and that if I do so, I’M somehow the bigot.

  23. So called “Right Wing” Nationalist movements are on the rise across the western world. The MSM can bury and marginalize that fact all they wish, but the anti-immigrant/ anti-Islamization movements are on the rise.
    What is now happening is a race to populate each side of the ideological debate, Progressivism verses everyone else. The real Progressives are a relatively few Limousine Liberals and Crony Capitalist Elitists who run a sophisticated marketing campaign while utilizing the herds of mentally ill Liberal left “commoners” as useful idiots at the street level. Think Tides Foundation and the Environmental movements.
    Open Borders, Mass third world immigration, Islamization – MEETS – High national debts, failing economies, high unemployment and racially/ ethnically divided nations.
    This won’t end well for the average citizen or the children of citizens of western welfare countries.

    There only ONE solution to the epidemic of ‘Lone Wolf’ terror attacks; whether from Islamists, high school punks in movie theatres, or rapists on campus: We must legalize and promote the idea of law abiding citizens carrying (open and or concealed) firearms; and, we must ban all “no gun zones”. Period!
    This would either prevent attacks, or stop attacks in progress; but it would STOP these random attacks.
    Our anti-gun laws and zones are the single most important factor in western society that enables these terrorists, leaves citizens vulnerable. It would be comforting to know that 10-20 percent of law abiding citizens at any given time in any given space, are armed.
    Until we(all of western society) adopt this blatantly obvious solution, we cannot honestly say that we are making an effort to end the epidemic of Lone Wolf attacks against citizens.

With the increasing lawlessness on display, it’s time to always be prepared to fight, and quite frankly, f*** the police unions. How often have cops ever intervened to prevent a crime in progress?     I agree 100% with your first comment about Open and Concealed Carry, but am a little on the fence with – ALL – “no gun zones”.
    At least until the Liberals/ Progressives stop spreading this madness and disease into our communities, I believe they should be left on the front lines of this war to take the brunt of the attacks they helped foster.
    The café’ in question here looked like a Liberal convention in my opinion, and yes I believe it should not have been a “No Gun Zone”, as I believe that anywhere conservatives or children might frequent should be protected in “Gun allowed zones”. Indeed there was a slight possibility that there was a Conservative actually in that Sydney Café’ that morning.
    Improbable but possible.
    Therefore we should fully allow Liberals to make as many “Private NO Gun Zones” for themselves as we can, and force these establishments to be Sign Posted as such so that informed Conservatives can avoid those establishments.
    The Jihadists will take it from there.

  34. I managed to stomach reading about this in the local paper (carrying a CP wire story). In their quest to avoid the “M” word, the article quoted several sources as saying that this individual was attracted to extremism. Now THERE is a word that has been soiled by association in the MSM. Believe it or not, extremism need not be bad. It was not the fact that he had strong beliefs that was the problem. Even Suzuki has strong beliefs, and the press lauds him for it. The problem was that this man had wrong, evil beliefs. Extremism is not the issue. If a leftie disagrees with someone, or worse yet, comes across someone with any strong faith convictions, he/she simply label them as “extreme” and they need not concern themselves with what the individual is extreme about. It is true that this man and many other extremists have perpetrated evil deeds. However, having strong convictions (i.e. being an extremist) is not in itself good or evil.
    St. Francis of Assisi was a fundamentalist extremist, but for good causes. Mother Theresa was an extremist. Heck, Jesus Christ was a fundamentalist (which means concerned about fundamental issues, rather than peripheral ones)and an extremist. Washington, Lincoln, Wilberforce, Dickens, Galileo, John Coltrane…all were extremists, but for good causes rather than evil ones. (Oooooh, how dare I suggest that some things are evil – other than pipelines) Pretty much anybody who has ever accomplished anything was an extremist. What our modern progressives would like to see are men without chests (C.S.Lewis’ words) who easily flow along with whatever is suggested by the right people. “I’m a man without convictions..” or “Imagine”. Being able to sully the idea of having strong beliefs, especially religious ones, is attractive to lefties. They can then apply a word which has negative connotations to modern Christians, patriots, or family people. This allows progs to simply label without thinking, which is a handy way to avoid interacting with ideas they do not like. And they are extreme about that.

  42. You need to actually read the Bible, NME – Abram (later re-named Abraham by God), Sarah and Hagar predated Jesus by about 2,000 years. Technically, since Jacob (re-named Israel, which, interestingly, means “strives with God) was Abraham’s grandson, the Israelites (“sons of Israel”), now known as the “Joos”, didn’t even exist yet. But Ishmael gives Ay-rabs the right to call themselves descendants of Abraham, which is the main claim to fame of the Joos and which gives them title to the “Promised Land” (which is all of Israel plus the West Bank and parts of what are now Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, etc.) that was given to Abraham by God. But this gift doesn’t extend to the Ay-rabs because they’re b@st@rds.
