  1. This isn’t a surprise. For anyone following the technical discussions at WUWT and Climate Audit, raw data adjustment has been a serious issue for at least 10 years. Because the various institutes like Goddard and NOAA refused to disclose for years their methodology and documentation for the data adjustments, years were spent trying to figure out how much was real and how much warming was cooked into the numbers.
The scale of the adjustments are so large that the entire claimed temperature rise may in fact simply be an artifact of changed numbers.

  2. Exactly!
One commenter on Steven’s site, kirkmyers, sums it up very well by saying, “Our economic and political freedoms are under attack. We are waging a life-and-death battle against an axis of radical Luddites, unethical grant-seeking scientists, and corporate and political power brokers who want to shut down our modern industrial economy, saddle us with confiscatory energy taxes, and enact a draconian system of bureaucratic controls that will turn daily life into a living hell.”

  3. Just so, Ken. Ever since the publication of Amory Lovins’ Soft Energy Path in 1976, it’s been a solution wandering around looking for a problem to solve. Global warming was designed with this in mind. Which is why the warmers are so opposed to the obvious solution to their apparent problem, nuclear power. The soft energy path was overtly antinuclear as written.

  4. Small scale Thorium nuclear and hydroelectric are the best energy options we’ve got.
Unfortunately the efforts of the anti-everything environmental fringe and the perceived entitlements of the first-residents have made more hydro development unrealistically expensive. The well intentioned efforts of the environmentalists have made LNG the best short term option. If they don’t like it, then they’ve got nobody to blame but themselves.

  5. According to Readers Digest, if global warming continues, in 20 years the only chance we’ll have to see a polar bear is in a zoo. So in other words, nothing is going to change.
