Mark Steyn on the southern border surge:
There is no suggestion by anyone – Obama, Republicans, media – that this “government-wide response” might ever include enforcing US sovereignty at the border for which the government is nominally responsible. No, that’s just crazy talk. Instead, the comprehensive “government-wide response” to the invading forces is to house them, feed them, clothe them, school them, and Obamacare them. All at your expense. Which is why under Eric Cantor’s let’s-do-it-for-the-kids plan, the life of your kids and grandkids will be worse. Under the bipartisan “immigration” conspiracy, millions of Americans are downwardly mobile. And Cantor’s only proposal was to accelerate them down the chute.
Down the chute that ends in someone else’s back yard.
The Obama administration is doing its utmost to address the problem.

Whose participants want cheap labour at the expensive of the shrinking middle class.
The government represents only those factions who enrich this new aristocracy.

1) “Invading forces”? Give me a friggin’ break. These are people who want to pursue a better life, not a foreign army.
2) Immigration pushes ‘natives’ up not down. That is the conclusion of all serious economic study of the matter.
3) ‘Conspiracy’…Steyn should take something to ease his drama. He is at his worst when he gets dramatic.

Slavery has not ended in the US but changed in form. Obama doesn’t care if those children are fed or sheltered, nor does he care about the cheap labour these illegal immigrants provide. The only way to make him care is put them directly in his line of vision. When they haunt the streets of DC (especially on Pennsylvania Avenue), then he he might change his mind. He can’t pass the buck forever.
Used to be that the USA sent billions $ to aid people overseas. Much of that money was skimmed off by local politicos. Now Washington can send billions $ to Arizona but skim their take before doing so. In any event all that money will stay in the
country! Maybe even create a few jobs for out of work social welfare workers.
All I can see is a win/win situation.

As persons needing/wanting a new home and some spending cash will obviously be welcome to take whatever you have.
If you figure immigration is a right and illegally visiting another country to take what wealth is there, is a OK with you, why would you not invite the same people into your home?

Society without rule of law and equality before those laws does not remain civil.

Canadians should appreciate thaqt it’s just one more undefended border north to cross for many of these “unfortunates”.

What problem is being addressed by Obama……oh yes, the one where Americans still have to much money and still live too comfortable a life and need to have it redistributed to their poor southern neighbors if they come to call. And they are coming to call Obama & company are making sure of that.
