Y2Kyoto: Ice In Their Veins

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
Government of Manitoba: While climate change is predicted to result in fewer deaths related to extreme cold events during the winter, warmer summer temperatures will likely increase the occurrence of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Extreme weather events such as heat waves and floods can lead to higher incidences of sickness and loss of life.
Winnipeg, Manitoba: On this warm spring day, 461 Winnipeg properties still struggle with frozen pipes. Two Winnipeg city councillors were hoping for help from some western neighbours, but Regina and Brandon won’t be committing any resources to help thaw Winnipeg out.

  1. Heavier rains & more frequent droughts. – both at the same time?
Grassland move further north. – In Alberta the forest has moved south in the last 150 years. Something to do with no buffalo.
More forest fires and increased risk of disease in forests. – I thought fires made healthier forests.
Greater risk of flooding. – That drought caused flooding can be brutal.
They really are pulling this stuff out of their asses. Everything that is bad is caused by CO2. Apparently they can have it both ways. I was led to believe that, in the past, when we had many times the levels of CO2, the vegetation could be described as lush.

  2. Just had to deal with frozen pipes under the street in Alvena, and there are still homes without water in Wakaw, too. 34, a week or so ago. Not sure what the count is now.

  3. The city of Winnipeg continues to vote in the commies. They know better but are totally dependent on handouts by the NDP government. Hence, no amount of reason or truth will change the behavior of the dependents. Outside the city totally conservative.

  4. Commies have pat answers for everything until they are
put in charge and something real kicks them in the ass.

“Yes, our provincial government is that stupid”.
    Really?
That’s stupid enough to actually attract smart people to move there!
Start your own little government and set up a few villages without too much concern from the natives. I wonder if they like whisky?

  6. I can’t recall if the figures from several years ago were for Canada, the UK or the States but the number of deaths from cold (especially due to alcoholic homeless freezing to death) far outnumbered the number of summer heat-related deaths.

  7. The Sound Of Settled Science 🙂
“It’s a nagging thorn in the side of climatologists: Even though the world is warming, the average area of the sea ice around Antarctica is increasing. Climate models haven’t explained this seeming contradiction to anyone’s satisfaction—and climate change deniers tout that failure early and often. But a new paper suggests a possible explanation: Variability in the heights of ocean waves pounding into the sea ice may help control its advance and retreat.”
