Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

When the Queen is dressed that casually and looks that relaxed and happy, then you know a horse or two should be in the photo. Letting the family do the long distance travelling is doing her a world of good.
It’s got that “I’m the Queen and I’m happy, what’s it to you?” look…
It appears that she is having a grand time ‘horsing around’.
Would that we are all so blessed at the age of 88…

I remember singing this in elementary school, and saluting the Red Ensign.
Her photo and that of Prince Philip were prominently displayed in every classroom.
This is actually a tribute to British Liberty(Natural Rights) and the Common-Law, the defence of which is the sacred obligation of the Monarch and her subjects.

Looks a lot like me Mum
I didn’t think much of the queen in my youth, but I’ve grown to appreciate her over the years.
I’ll look back on her fondly when in my advanced years the Emir of Brittaniastan arises.
My first thought was that she looked pleased because she had placed that idiot she spawned in an insane asylum.
Long may she reign?
I think this has been settled.
I’m not a monarch groupie and I have real issues with being thought of as a “subject” to a foreign aristocrat, but I have nothing against her personally and I hope she keeps well.
BTW- the family name is not really Windsor, it’s Saxe-Coburg – look it up.
Hey.
The name’s Winsor. Changed by law in 1917. Look up why.
As for “foreign aristocrat”, I wonder how well the Americans are doing with their own home-grown aristocrats? Do you like Obama? Did you like Bush? How bout Nixon? Yeah, I’ll stick with Liz, thanks.
Great Lady, longer may she reign. It’s not often you see her without her purse, but assume she has pockets to carry her hanky in that casual jacket!
As for her son Charles and the rest of her brood, they’re not unlike many modern day families, except they’re expected to be examples of the ideal family. The Queen has set a high example to follow, she’s had a lot to endure, three divorces among her own children couldn’t have been easy to deal with.
For the last 97 years it has been the House of Windsor, by Royal proclamation.
The English are Germans if you go back far enough in history. The Angles, Saxons and Jutes were Germanic tribes that came across the North Sea. The word ‘England’ is a contraction of the German word Engelgelande; Engel = Angle and Gelande = Land.
On September 10, 2015, if she is still reigning, she will become the longest-reigning British monarch. Here’s hoping she does.
You are not subject to a foreign aristocrat. If you are a Canadian you are a subject of the Queen of Canada. (And like Her Majesty, you are free to live in another country and get a job and property and citizenship there, too.)
There she is. The congenitally retarded Canadian Overlord, and Ruler of the Serfs.
Why do Canadians not have their own Canadian Head of State who is elected? Why do Canadians continue to be subjugated as mere Subjects of a retarded foreign Monarch?
Considering some of the people we elect to manage our affairs at all levels I’m happy to live in a Monarchical system, the best in the world. If you don’t care for this system you have the freedom to move to a republic, a communistic state, a dictatorship, whatever.
My problem with the monarchy has always been that it established ‘top down’ governance in Canada. Instead of throwing in with the Americans in 1776 we continued our work establishing an elite within the country that has ruled for centuries.
In my lifetime the closest effort I have seen to rule by the citizenry was the Reform movement. Much of that effort seems to have fallen by the wayside. Perhaps there is a human need to have ‘father’ figures who will assume responsibility and thusly not force that type of decision making on ‘lesser’ citizens.
Good governance is not a mystery. It is all about running balanced books and making tough decisions about what is needed and what is affordable with the monies available. Unfortunately there appears to be a sizeable segment in most societies that make their way by ensuring that others pay their way.
I much prefer her to her son but I must admit I lost a lot of respect for the monarchy and its role in Canada when Betty signed PET’s brain cramp we call the constitution.
and the celtics are French which have a large influence in GB, while Willy of Orange was neither German nor French, he was from the part of Netherlands were I come from, and friesiens are quite an old ppl
I’m also impressed with the future king & his wife.

Well said Liz.
Hopefully, long may she reign until William can succeed her and bypass the goof Chawwls.
Joe, by law she could not refuse to sign Chairman PET’s “brain cramp” joke of a constitution.
There’s this one too if someone on Twitter wants to link it at that guy’s account:

Ask the Aussie republicans about that. They can’t decide between having an elected “pretend-governor-general” as head of state (as the more libertarian republicans want) or one appointed by the PM (that the leftists want so that the left will control all the apparatus of the state whenever they form a government).
BTW, if you’re a Canadian, who do you want the Armed Forces swearing their loyalty to: the PM, the “President” or the Constitution that Quebec hasn’t signed and no one else likes?
People in Holland etc are referred to as “Dutch” while the Germans call themselves “Deutsche”, the similarity of those two words is not a coincidence. Hitler believed that the Dutch would come to accept Nazi occupation as they were descendants of the Frisians who were an ancient Germanic tribe.
“Considering some of the people we elect to manage our affairs at all levels I’m happy to live in a Monarchical system, the best in the world. If you don’t care for this system you have the freedom to move to a republic, a communistic state, a dictatorship, whatever.”
Amen to that.
(I might add that our constitutional monarchy is so benign that if you don’t care for it you also have the perfect right to try to change it.)
God Save The Queen.
I am glad it is looking increasingly less likely that her left-wing, commie Islam-loving son Charles is not going to get the throne. That man has become an utter disgrace.
Best post yet CT! Face it, Canada never gained independence. Look who’s mug is still on our money. The world is run by a select few and royal family is among these elite. Want to see what is in our future just look at what Charles and the queen’s husband, Philip believe. Population reduction, climate change are most notable.
Same age as ‘me mum’ and she’s a grand old dame as well.
The Queen represents a time when being a citizen of the British Commonwealth meant something and when you could look with pride on the values, structures and practices of the western democracies that had all begun with the British Monarchy. We are drifting from that path and when she is gone and her spawn is on the throne I think we’ll realize just how far we’ve gone astray.
according to Brian Sykes who did a genetic profile of his home isles , about 80% of the gene pool are the people who got there first . there is Roman blood more in the south , Saxon blood more in the east and in the valleys., Viking blood more in the north and up along some river routes ,
Its a mongrel mess
that I descend from
Liz isn’t completely to blame for Charles’ character. Check out Princess Alice of Battenberg, who more or less consolidated the nuttiness genes so they could be passed on down.
retarded?
Project much?
Better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and forever remove all doubt.
Abraham Lincoln
Great queen the pic in good ~ Thanks…

“Yeah, I’ll stick with Liz, thanks.”
Why stick with any?
The Libyans had the same problem with Gadhafi the Iraqis with Saddam, and look where it got them.
Be independent and vote for self-governance in a direct or semi-direct democracy, you can be rid of both “Liberalism” and its autocratic masters with one stone.
| Do you like Obama? Did you like Bush? How bout Nixon? Yeah, I’ll stick with Liz, thanks.”
Knock yerself out ED – free country , such as it is per se, you’re free to choose your oppressor – remember every infringement of your rights or intrusion into your life, your home and privacy is done in her name – just as it is in the new USSA.
“The queen of Canada”???? who the ringdangdoo is that then? Lizzy May? Get grounded,-
every legal document in this nation is actioned by vice regals (crown officers) acting in right of the crown through letters patent – To my knowledge Canada’s sovereign never surrendered the letters patent to our house of commons neither did she divest herself of royal prerogative in ascension to acts of Canadian parliament. A sniggering little detail but very important in becoming a fully legitimate sovereign within right nation under rule of law.
As long as Canada has a sovereign as head of state, we will NEVER have a legitimate made in Canada constitution – just a vice regal proclamation called a charter.
Anyone but that dumbass son of hers. Hope she outlasts Charles and then over to William and Kate. I remember watching her coronation. I must be old.
A good looking old gal out at Ascot or some other track. Probably just picked a winner.
As for the monarchy it is an anachronism left over from another time. In a modern first world democracy the citizens are capable of electing and establishing responsible government. Leadership based on a royal family has no place today.
As for the future, the queens grandson has chosen a very attractive mate. Her handlers are keeping her away from the press other than the photo ops. We know little about her and I guess that’s ok, I have no expectations of greatness from either her or her husband.
So what real live past or current country (and not imaginary “we can make it in the future” utopia) should we emulate then, gentlemen?
I still remember my first day in school grade 1 and her picture was in the front of the room it has always stuck with me
You realise your “Queen” promotes homosexual marriage along with Gorebull Warming and a host of other leftist causes? She ain’t my queen.
Sorry for the confusion I may have caused Ken (Kulak) in failing to properly separate Elizabeth from the Monarchy. I lost respect for the monarchy because the monarchy was incapable of stopping PET’s disaster as symbolized by Betty obediently signing the death knell of Canada as we once knew it. Growing up I was always told that the monarchy kept the state away from the political. When Betty signed I came to realize the monarchy was useless at preventing tyranny as the constitution and charter have proven to be.
