They either have a big surprise up their sleeve, or they are the stupidest people on earth. I don’t get it.
The obvious interpretation is that the Iranian government intends for Iran to be
a major nuclear power.
The “surprise” up their sleeve will be a surprise only to the Americans. Just like the
North Korean surprise.
No, not stupid. They’ve read Obama’s administration and they’ve seen the UN at work and they realize that neither will interfere with their nuclear ambitions.
Obama’s fecklessness has been demonstrated time and again in the Middle East; the only country that would dare stand up Iran right now is Israel – and if it does so it will unleash a storm of political protest up to and including sanctions imposed by the UN.
So they will continue to build a lot, obfuscate a little, play on the abundant fears and cowardice of the Obama administration, and quite possibly achieve a fait-accompli nuclear weapons program before any serious resistance can be mustered against it.
So why announce everything?. There are lots of ways of looking at their strategy, but none of them make any sense. Why would they want a nuclear response from Israel,I’m sure if Israel goes that route they probably do it to win, and no matter what they say, I,m sure the Imam’s do not want martyrhood for themselves.
I suppose if Israel does launch, it could trigger a military coup in the U.S.as The president would probably be golfing when defending the U.S. should be defending itself.

It is able to do so, because it is now protected by a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, President Barack Hussain Obama.
Israel has on three occasions prepared to strike at and destroy Iranian nuclear weapons facilities, and had to abandon each of them due to the Obama administration leaking word of the attacks to Iran.
In the past Israel bombed Iraq’s nuclear power plant(1981) before it was operational and such would release radioactive contamination into the surrounding civilian area. It did the same thing more recently when Syria(2007) attempted to build a nuclear reactor.
On both occasions the rest of the world breathed a sigh of relief, but gave no official thanks to Israel. A token protest from the U.N. was issued.
Iran’s strategy is twofold: nuclear weapons to intimidate the Sunni Muslim states (and likely Europe, it’s longer range missiles are designed to go that far) and to attack Israel.
The Ayatollah Kohmeini explained in a very public speech years ago, that he didn’t care if Iran was destroyed in a war if Israel was also destroyed. This is part of orthodox Islamic ideology derived from the Koran. Dr. Andrew Bostom has researched and written about this, too. It is not a secret.
The second part of the strategy is once a nuclear reactor is operating and producing plutonium for further nuclear weapons, any bombing of it would release radioactive contamination of Iranian civilian population and thus would be blamed, like everything else that goes wrong in the Muslim world, on the Jews.
Israel’s values are, like the rest of the West, so it tries to avoid civilian casualties as much as possible.

Once Iran has acquired nuclear weapons to place on their missiles, a nuclear war is pretty much inevitable. It would either be with the Sunni states like Saudi Arabia, who have arranged to buy nuclear weapons from Pakistan.
Think of a war like in Syria, only with nuclear weapons.
Or Iran will attack Israel in a suicidal attack to wipe it out.
Either way the radioactive contamination will circulate world wide in the airborne winds, and the millions of refugees streaming out of the Middle-East will overwhelm other countries. Either that or they’ll have to use their military to keep them out.
This in a world where oil/gas deliveries from the Middle-East will be disrupted for some time.
Meanwhile, a significant percentage of the millions of Muslims living in Western countries would see these events as a religious sign, one for them to attack. Terrorism would be out of control for some time.
In any event, the economic impact would be massive and negative and world-wide.
This is a discussion that would occur in a free press, if we had one.

Israel will not exist if Iran gets nuke weapons. Not sure if Israel government has that figured out. Iran won’t need to drop anything , just continue to threaten. If you are an Israeli Jew and some Muslim country (Iran) threatens to lob a missile at you – you have 10 minutes to go underground, but when you come up everything is gone.
Israeli Jews will see an exodus again, but no place to go this time if Iran has nukes. It’s not the Israeli army/navy/air force against Iran’s at all. It is a sane people understanding there are lunatics with nukes who want them all dead. Don’t care if you like Jews or Israelis but in Realpolitik that is what Jews in Israel are facing.

The only thing that might worry the Iranians is a call from Barry saying ” If you like your nuclear enrichment plan, you can keep your nuclear enrichment plan.”
Not to poop on the party, but it’s very unlikely that Iran is going to nuke “The Holy Land”.
They may however nuke Saudi Arabia and other regional oil rich enemies, and then hold oil resources and the threat of mutual nuclear destruction as their trump card.
