I have spent two years traipsing Britain in search of the finest views. It is hard to convey the devastating impact of the turbines to those who have not seen them, especially a political elite that never leaves the south-east except for abroad. Fields of these structures are now rising almost everywhere. They are sited irrespective of the wind, since subsidy is paid irrespective of supply, even if there is none. It makes EU agricultural policy a paragon of sanity.
Turbines are to surround Cornwall and stretch along the north Devon coast. They will form a wall off the Dorset shore. They will line Offa’s Dyke from Gwent to Shropshire, with a single giant on Clyro Hill looking down the Wye Valley like Rio’s Christ the Redeemer. The once desolate Cambrian Mountains are on the way to being an estate of 840 turbines filling views in every direction.

That is heartbreaking — also criminal. Can nothing be done to stop this madness. Where are the environmentalists? (Oh, I almost forgot.)
In the 1970s apocalyptic art was all the rage, burned out cities, crashed spaceships, roaming herds of people.
Who knew these chemically enhanced artists had glimpsed our future.
On the southern tip of Big Island, Hawaii stand two wind farms, these show the future of the landscapes of Britain and Europe.
On the bright side, “French Haircuts” look more likely every year, for our elected and appointed royalty.
I volunteer to convert any still rotating blades, to aid in this sadly missed and vitally necessary public theatre.
Instead of the social events that public hangings once were, we could have the theatre of perfect wind days.
Billy Idols, White Wedding comes to mind.
Danged rich people. If they were put up by communes of Labor party members, it would be a wonderfully different story.
Worst thing about these monstrosities is they NEVER come close to reaching rated output on a sustained basis.
Even in Germany, where they’ve been retrofitting first generation wind turbines with newer, more efficient models, the current “capacity” (i.e. maximum output in most favourable conditions) is 30,000 MW, whereas the actual average power produced by all wind sources is 5,000 MW, or about 16% of total.
So the next time some Ontario Liberal says the wind plant is rated at “300 MW, enough to power 1000 homes”, you will know that it won’t likely produce more than 50 MW, will probably only power 500 homes at the best of times (and then, only for the few hours when peak wind is blowing), and still need back up from nuclear, coal, natural gas, or hydro. For this, you are paying 15 to 20 times the cost of power generated by nuclear/hydro/gas/coal.
You nailed it. Amazing that it got published at all in the Grauniad, but spinning it as “wind turbines are subsidies to the filthy rich” certainly appeals to their demographic.
Only good thing about these egg beaters is they’ll eventually be pulled down when the madness passes and they’ll go “yeah that sure was money down the crapper – man, wasn’t that something..”
The problem with windmills is that they are not being built in cities. The imbeciles who are voting for them are not stuck living next to them.
If a windfarm was located in the Yonge St. corridor of Toronto, or the Don Valley, or the Harbor Front or the Toronto Islands, the Liberals would be out on their butts in a week.
Wind turbines all over the world seldom produce more than 20% of their installed capacity on an annual basis.

It’s like buying a car that’s supposed to get 50mpg and then finding out it only gets 10mpg, but then covering up that fact because it’s an embarrassing admission of being scammed.
Instead of the burning man ritual. We can have a wind farm razing observance.None Pagan of course
That will placate the memory of the animals being butchered by the thousands, these totems of a false Religion of environmentalism, called Global warming.
Like tearing down status of Lenin, we can topple the phallus symbols of a debauched Political classes mythology, of Pseudo-science, money hungry madmen playing god.
