Does anyone else remember, some months or so ago, the flurry of pundits like McParland chatting about how this bailout was actually profitable and anyone opposing it was a crank?

What got GM into trouble in the first place,was they produced a lousy product,a lineup of “dogs” from pickups to electric cars,and buyers went for more reliable brands.
So how is GM going to stay solvent unless they have improved their product? From reading reliability reviews, it doesn’t look much better than it was ten years ago.
Maybe if they’re going to force auto dealers to arrange financing for unqualified buyers who’ll default on their loans,the US government should force those buyers to purchase GM products.
Then both sides will be getting an equal screwing from the State.

Just like doctors, no one NEEDS to be a lender. I expect most will simply abandon the market. Want a car? Full payment in cash before you leave the lot!
Does this mean Americans would come to Canada for affordable cars and car loans?
Of course, that means far less cars sold. Which means far fewer cars manufactured. Which means unions must clench teeth and grab ankles. Which means less factories and less jobs. GM will likely be first to go belly up. Their cars are crap.

This is a successful “investment” by government standards.

….but the UAW is doing fine and contributing to DemonRat party coffers, and their members are voting Democrat which is what Dems care most about.

$10 billion? Could be worse. They’ve lost more than that in Green Energy and Boeing spy satellites that didn’t work.
At least the union was saved!

Well.. Force them to pay the other 10 billion.. In fact make it 12 billion.. The American people deserve to make a profit dont they?

Anybody have information on how much the Canadian taxpayer is still on the hook for Government Motors?

If the banks are not willing to lend to some groups who perhaps don’t have a good record of repaying debts then Obama will have a new opportunity to give things away, CEL phones are old hat people who qualify will be given a brand new car, an electric one of course. This is a plus…plus…plus idea, people get a free car, potential future voters get more free stuff from the Democrates and GM (the governments union/car company) gets further economic stimulus (oh ya and their union members vote Democrat).

Ah, we had a piece of that deal, and probably stand to see our tax dollars flushed down the same tube.

Profit is a dirty word to Dumbocrats, (except for their payola masters)…………..

I’ve already seen the commercials of GM execs telling of how they paid back the “loan” and even paid interest on it.
I guess if POTUS can lie through his teeth then GM can too, period.
