There was never any doubt, from the outset that COP19 was going to be the biggest failure since records began, what has been surprising is the speed of that collapse, COP19 was effectively dead before it had begun.

Toryaardvark was wrong about only one small but important detail. The failure of COP 19 was NOT a surprise. It was telegraphed well in advance with the failure of the ministers’ meeting during the past summer. For the first time ever, they failed to agree on the draft release to come out at the end of COP 19 to be held five months later.
He’s right about five failures in a row. Coming out of COP 14 in 2008, they had two big items on the agenda: the successor agreement to Kyoto, and the development funds for the third world. The first item froze to death in Copenhagen the next year, and three subsequent attempts to restart it all failed dismally. So the only thing left was the development funds, and they died even quicker. The funeral was this week.
There is now literally nothing left of the COP agenda coming out of COP 9 in 2003 when the entire future agenda was set and Bali in 2008 when the Roadmap was approved. What was publicly buried this week is as big a trainwreck as the Doha round of trade talks.

Never in the annals of history have they had public support for taxing absolutely nothing. The majority is slowly coming out of its brainwashed stupor but we still have a way to go before the rats crawl back into their holes. The biggest scam in history is still sucking billions of dollars out of the economy and we have not won until that tap is shut off completely. It will be a significant factor in BC’s next election as it was in Australia.
