The WSJ:
WASHINGTON—The U.S. has intercepted an order from Iran to militants in Iraq to attack the U.S. Embassy and other American interests in Baghdad in the event of a strike on Syria, officials said, amid an expanding array of reprisal threats across the region.

The Telegraph:
“A leaked report to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) seen by the Mail on Sunday, has led some scientists to claim that the world is heading for a period of cooling that will not end until the middle of this century.”
Reminds me of Gary Larson’s Far Side cartoon of the cows in the field. Amazing how much is going on at this popular critter hangout.
I found this pretty funny.
New Exploits Of The A-Team

Ha! The TorStar’s being taken to the Ontario Press Council for their coverage of Mayor Ford and the Phantom Crack Video.
In the Star’s defense, “Editor-in-chief Michael Cooke told the three-member panel that reporters made at least 14 attempts to reach the mayor the night before the story ran.”
Give me a break. Trying to reach the mayor 14 times the night before the story ran is harassment in itself. To run their story, it was incumbent upon the Star to have in their possession the alleged video.
“The council is weighing whether the newspaper ‘engaged in irresponsible, unethical investigative reporting.’”
I wonder what they’re weighing, as it’s pretty damned clear that the Star engaged in irresponsible, unethical investigative reporting. In fact, there was no “investigative reporting,” only hearsay, rumour, innuendo, a guilty verdict without proof, and public execution.
Off with their heads.
The chickens come home to roost.

Reminded me of seeing my first V-22 Osprey in flight (about a month ago), which was impressive until I realized its cargo:

Truly sickening.
So conservatives can and do win in countries where requiring a voter’s ID is not absurdly called “voter suppression.”
The Toronto Star and Gawker are tawdry gossip mills. I admire how Rob Ford just flicked them off like the gnats they are.
EBD- So it’s still only a theory. You’d think hours upon hours of tape would produce some credible evidence of bears actually dumping in the woods. This obviously needs much more study.
Was working at a customer’s house today and they were streaming CNN live on the home computer.
Only caught snippets here and there.
One of the snippets I heard was about Assad attacking Israel or the possibility of doing so. Whatever brought that up I do not know. I assume that the Obama talking heads are looking for an excuse to attack Syria.
The second snippet was about, from what I could make of it, was to primarily save Obama’s rep. Not the rep of a nation but the rep of a man.
Anyone else catch this or was it my mishearing?
What the bears are doing here is somewhat funny, but what it has to do with the pope’s hat is beyond me! Why you find the pope’s hat funny, is beyond me, and I find it somewhat offensive. I think the Mason’s aprons and cloaks and the fez is funny, as are the little motorcycles they run around on during parades, are silly – you don’t see Popes acting stupid like that! We won’t even get into the Royal Purple or Job’s daughters and that foolishness. See, I can be insulting too – and I’m an opened minded Catholic who even finds the Knights of Columbus and their silly regalia and ostrich plumes and such as a bit ostentatious. God forgive us our prejudices.

MONTREAL – A Muslim conference that was cancelled last week after the PQ government objected to the participation of four speakers invited from France was held anyway Sunday at a downtown mosque.
CTV Montreal reporter Kevin Gallagher attended a session where speakers discussed how to be a good Muslim; giving examples of donating to charity and being kind to neighbours.
Putin will get the Nobel Peace Prize if this initiative works. Take that, Obama!

Very interesting rant by someone named Brenda Malone over at Kinsella’s site.

Found this snip of it quite interesting:
“For an Iranian metaphor, Alexandre Trudeau’s documentary “The New Great Game” was produced with the help of Iran’s state-funded and Holocaust denying propaganda arm Press-TV, along with anti-Israel broadcaster Al-Jazeera Arabic, and the Media Education Foundation (producer of the anti-Israel film “Peace, Propaganda, and the Promised Land” found by CBC Radio-Canada’s ombudsman to be propaganda that never should have aired). Trudeau did not mince words when it came to presenting Israel as a bellicose nuclear-armed threat when he remarked: “While there is no proof that Iran has even made the decision to start a nuclear arms program. Israel’s nuclear arsenal will largely out-gun whatever weapons Iran might acquire, but from the vantage point of Iran, it is the one being threatened not the one doing the threatening.”
Anyone know if this is factually correct?

Under ‘Legacy Media G&M/Canadian Press confused over near fatal cougar attack’.
Clayoquot Sound woman is in stable condition.
Partner kills cougar with spear.
Conservation officer York said the man stabbed it several times with the spear and that was the likely cause of death, but a necropsy will also be preformed on the animal to determine what may have caused the animal to jump on the woman.
York said they may never know why the cougar attacked because sometimes cougars look at people as if they’re prey.
He said the couple had had some encounters in the last few months with a cougar that had been acting aggressively towards them. He believes it was the same animal that attacked the woman Sunday.
Conclusion: Must have been a wayward vegetarian cougar that has not been watching Walt Disney shows.
