  1. journalists contribute “not very much” or “nothing at all” to society

They should also add a “believe journalists are actively detrimental to society” category and see how many respond that way.

  2. Interesting is the drop in support for journalists among women, and after all the years “journalists” have been trying to feminize society.
    Oh, the irony.

  3. The problem with journalism is that for every Peter Worthington (RIP), Christie Blatchford or Ezra Levant there are ten mediocre mediots of Glen McGregor’s caliber. I’m wondering if there will be a journalism industry in 50 years time. Humanity got along just fine without journalists until a couple centuries ago.

  4. Just yesterday I read a news article about how those cable companies were trying to reach the 16% of ex subscribers that have taken to just watching news / video online. For free.
Why would they do that? … do you suppose it’s a trend? See also, the percentage of old movies being remade into new. The dearth of new ideas is really quite startling. I think they’re in for a great shake out.

  5. Why US? Take Canada.
I like to test people who have an appearance of being on the ‘right’.
Thus I have tested Brian Lilley and he failed miserably. Another opportunistic turncoat.
Do I hate them? Not at all, just recognize them for what they are and act accordingly.

  6. It’s curious that journalists are such an incompetent lot and yet, surprisingly, some folks can be coerced into believing every word they write.
For an example please review the George Zimmerman case.
The media have already convicted him and the masses are buying into that wholeheartedly.
    Crazy.

  7. Wouldn’t put Ezra in the same category as Worthington and Blatchford.
The latter pair ply their trade on facts.
Plenty of times, Ezra torques into ‘what if’ fantasies, such as jumping to the conclusion that the Lac Megantic tragedy was likely caused by eco-terrorists.
For all the good work he does, these flights into fantasy and innuendo harm his credibility.

  8. Damn! Those twitter comments are hilarious!
I still can’t read twitter very well, but I could pick up on these ones.

  9. I only glance at our local fishwrap while heating up my food at work. From what I see on the front page, Obama’s reign has been scandal-free, climate change is a terrible threat, and Democrats care about the little guy. I will continue to soldier on without a subscription.

  10. I’m thinking you really got under his skin there Kate. Well done. Keep up the good work…

  11. I don’t recall the term for this, or even who first articulated it (maybe it was William F. Buckley), but there is this phenomenon where people grant an unwarranted credibility to things so-called journalists say simply because the subject is outside the reader or viewer’s own area of knowledge.
Read an article about a subject you know well. The errors and non-sequiturs are glaring, and you can tell immediately that the reporter knows virtually nothing about the subject. Yet every other article in the newspaper, people will read with total credulity simply because the subjects are less familiar. What reason do we have to believe that those articles aren’t causing some other reader to wince just as we did while reading the first article?

  12. You got that right. Most teachers are much like the vast majority of journalists, shills for a left-wing point of view and totally lacking objectivity.

  13. MacGregor is a bit of a touchy, little weasel isn’t he?
Let’s see…bald…middle aged….no real talents or marketable skills… and doesn’t really do anything any more useful than sit on his ass and write snotty remarks.
Yeah, that would explain all his bitterness. Keep sticking it to him SDA.
