Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Where are all the fat people. When I go out and about I see fat people everywhere.
Those were different times and there are probably many reasons why there were not many fat people. Two reasons would be men and women did more physical labour and home cooked meals were the norm. Today, the last figures I saw show almost half the food budgets are spent in restaurants.
That was a great video of a time before the PC crowd began running things. This clip also fits with the Benny Goodman cd we listened to earlier in the evening.
I could watch an hour of this. Look at how well the people are dressed. All the small buildings. Can you imagine Nanny Bloomers trying to legislate no smoking in that era, and he was a young man at the time. Someone must have stolen his cigarette money. Mind you smokes must have cost about $.05 a pack back then. Also in the comments from that video, someone commented that everyone must have smelled bad as there was no such thing as deodorant….chuckle.Thanks Kate, that was cool.
Yeah but saturated fat and 17 oz sodas were legal then. They should have all been fat….
As for price of smokes, I recall being sent down to the corner store to pick up a pack of smokes for my father for %0.35, it was around 1960+/- a couple of years. I made it clear
to the clerk that the smokes were for my father but he did not seem to care.
Hopefully I can offer an appreciation for what this film clip might mean to someone. In that clip is a short segment showing NBC Plaza – at least it is now. My wife and I had our 25th wedding anniversary dinner there on Sept 12, 1995. Oh what a night! Thanks for that memorable clip, Kate.
Being that it’s from Gawker, the stupid is pretty strong in the comments.
