  1. I voted yes because all the evidence is clear: Trudeau’s ascent to power is inevitable.

  2. I hope and pray that the Canadian electorate never, ever elect enough Liberals to have this vacuous empty suit as our Prime Minister… He is one of the charter members of the lucky sperm club.

  3. Justines latest self promo ad – I’m a dad, I’m a teacher, I’m a leader!
    – “everything” but a Canadian.
We need to examine the root causes of that.

  4. Mulcair > Trudeau > Harper
If I feel voting for Trudeau can block Harper i’ll do it. But I prefer Mulcair.

  5. So LAS stands for Liberals Are Shiny(Pony)…?
Hey I used to teach math too, I should be anointed leader because I’m a father and son as well and I am a canuckle-head you should be voting for MOI!
After all I can do “Al-Jabar” (algebra)!
10 kids in a room are a powder keg…what a laugh riot right after the Boston Marathon events. Hey timing is everything, I’m sure the victims will find this mighty amusing as they contemplate why their relatives are dead or they are missing limbs…
But you know those ‘root causes’ are most recently revealed to be a ‘holy book’ which doesn’t conform with the Criminal Code; which as you know for anointed ones, is well, ‘optional’.
Yep, JT is going to rewrite the rules of civilization for us…how touching.

  6. IMHO there is NO WAY Canadians that swallowed their distaste or the CPC and recently voted them into majority will view JT as a better alternative than Iggy. There is absolutely nothing policy wise that JT can offer middle class CPC voters they wish to sway. That was Iggy’s job, and he failed! JT is far to the Left of Iggy, and therefore will only be culling votes from the NDP(in Quebec) of which there are not enough. The fact that the loons are again completely ignoring the fact that we have a FPTP system is quite puzzling, and are celebrating popular vote numbers years away from an election seems to be par for the course.
Harper won the majority strictly on an economic and tough on crime platform. As long as Harper balances the budget( I don’t care how) he will have fulfilled his promise to Canadians and will win another majority. People who care about their homes, investments and the future will not switch their vote over to this talking hair piece.
The Liberals increasing their seat count by over 100 is pretty rich. That, or I’ve got no clue about Canadian Federal politics.

  7. Which is precisely the problem I speak about in my comment. JT is to the Left of Iggy; therefore, he’ll not be able to cull votes from new or old CPC voters if Iggy couldn’t. By you switching your vote to the Libs, you’re accomplishing nothing except weakening the Dippers.
All of that said, I’m puzzled as to why you’d switch from Dipper to Grit? It’s obvious that Jack Layton(and Gilles Duceppe) saw the Liberals as a much worse option for Canadians than the Harper CPC. Otherwise, Jack’s last political maneuver wouldn’t have been to put PMSH into government with a majority. Surely you remember it was Jack Layton who brought down the last minority government, and then twisted the knife in Iggy’s back in the debate. If Jack was concerned about a CPC majority, he’d have never have done that.
The bottom line is… you are very wrong headed changing your vote to the Liberals. You will help destroy Jack’s life’s work(destroying the Liberals), by doing so, and ensure another CPC majority. If you are a true socialist, you will stick with your party, and let the Grit scum die(politically).
    Cheers

  8. Oh, O Great One, as we are clearly all, in accordance with your clearly ubiquitous put-down for all who clearly disagree with your grunts, clearly “idiots”, we clearly beseech and clearly implore you to clearly enlighten us in respect of your clear wisdom by clearly enumerating (in four clear words or more on each point) all the clear points of clear evidence in support of your clear position, just this once.
    I voted no.

  9. Conservative insiders might want to realize that many non-political folks find the attack ad mentality distasteful and might be inclined to side wth JT, who seems to have an ability to communicate far beyond that of the last two sacrificial beasts.
He won’t be persuading me, of course, my choice is basically between throwing away my vote on principle (Libertarian for example) or equally wasting my time voting for a CPC nominee in a safe NDP riding.
However, I think people are getting fed up with all the spin and drum beating when there are such obvious departures from conservative principle on display in this government.
The rather transparent cynicism on national security and internet surveillance is disturbing to many who should be excited to have a majority conservative government. If we complain, we get blamed for being disloyal, but at some point, you have to ask whether the brand name (conservative) is really being respected. The new attitude to China is particularly troublesome.
I know, the Liberals would be worse. But how come we have to put up with this crap? I wish there was somebody a bit more powerful than the few dissident voices to raise these questions and get a meaningful discussion going, because frankly, the cheerleading is geting monotonous and more than a touch shallow. If I feel this way, I don’t like Harper’s chances of winning the next election.

  10. JT is far to the Left of Iggy………… the Liberals would be worse
I see no evidence to back this up. Trudeau and Harper are both so insipid and featureless that they are 90% identical. Trudeau might be worse in energy but he’d be much better on drugs and probably civil liberties.
As long as Harper balances the budget
    Never. Going. To. Happen.
I don’t like Harper’s chances of winning the next election.
Oh neato someone on SDA who can think beyond partisan talking points. There is no way at this rate that Harper can keep his majority. He is over half-way through his Great Epic Majority and he and his fanboys are pissing it away. They are going to waste it and accomplish nothing more than more deficits and a gradually expanding government. Why should I be afraid of the Timid Trudeau again?
Harper is a liability and has been for a while and needs to be replaced.

  11. Indiana, what LAS and the rest of the loons are forgetting is that the name Trudeau is still anathema in Quebec. What’s Shiny Pony going to do, rencunce Daddy’s legacy of patriation of the Constitution and inclusion of the Charter?
David, you’re wasting your time. LAS never has any clear evidence for any of his positions.

  12. I voted no, but that was possibly/probably wishful thinking…….I have (or should have)learned never to overestimate the electorate, and the last 2 presidential elections in the US have confirmed that the electorate is getting dumber by the hour.

  13. People are underestimating the stupidity of the Canadian electorate. They will vote for a pretty boy airhead. I have no doubt of that. In my job I deal the full cross-section of urban voters. The overwhelming majority are politically ignorant beyond belief.
And, while I think that Harper has done a very good job, the extent to which the media has demonized Harper is profound, and more than half the Canadian electorate would never consider voting for him no matter what.
I also think the recent attack ads against Trudeau were truly stupid. I’d like to believe that Harper is playing some sort of long term strategy with thos ads, but that seems optimistic.
And I agree with Peter O’Donnell that Harper is pissing off a lot of his base by creating an impression, and perhaps a reality, that the state is getting ever more power ove the individual. There doesn’t appear to be much principle, or any, behind the Conservative agenda. It’s all focus groups and wedge policies.
Of the ministers who represent the conservative government, only Jason Kenney has done a really good job in his post during this mandate. Nearly everyone else has been a mess, from Vic Toews to Peter MacKay to Baird.
Harper has also been excellent but he almost seems aloof from the fray. He’s been PM for 7 or 8 years now. I worry that he is not that interested in the job any more, not as competitive and aggressive as he used to be, and he has turned over much of the strategic decision making to minions who do not have his qualities and political intelligence.

  14. All of which is plausible and completely understandable, except for the one big thing that they abjectly refuse to acknowledge: what do Liberal rent-seekers really stand for?
Their stock-in-trade has been to systematically shadow and follow the leading party on right or left, as required, carping and back-biting all the way, only to sneak back into office, emulate their principal opposition from a policy perspective once in office, and then proceed to raid the treasury for their own direct and personal enrichment. If that’s not critical and historically-accurate analysis, tell me where I’m wrong?
And some people profess that they are shocked! shocked! by the Conservatives playing turn-about and making fun of them with a few ads over the past few years? I’d say that they richly deserve it, particularly — particularly — in the current context of the current Great Pretender.

  15. T he last thing this country needs is an egotistical Frenchman who thinks that only Quebecers know how to run Canada,[Justines own words].If we are ever going to free ourselves from the grip of Power Corporation as demonstrated above now is the time.My Canada Excludes Quebec!

  16. A vote for Trudeau or Mulcair is a direct link to Canada joining the EU/USA debt club. Harper has made mistakes but his errors won’t lead the county to economic ruin.

  17. Anybody know how many hours of actual classroom instruction time shiny pony put in during his two years as part-time drama queen?

  18. “Justines latest self promo ad – I’m a dad, I’m a teacher, I’m a leader!”
    I was a camp counsellor.

  19. Not many, JT was a part-time teacher at West Point Grey Academy in Vancouver, where the BC elite send their kids.
Trudeau was apparently signed on more for his “draw” power, and to raise funds for the school, than for his great ability to teach.

  20. Oh sure, what a great idea to have this clown become Prime Minister. Here’s a guy who called (calls?) Fidel Castro “Papa Fidel” and has his whacko brother Sacha as prime advisor.
    Leftard Party of Canada anyone?

  21. The best thing that could happen to Canada west of Ontario, would be Prime Minister Justin.
This would be the final straw in the crushing idiocy from the East, even Urban BC might see the light.
We teeter on the edge of insolvency right now, if Europe and the US proceed as indicated who is gonna buy our resources?
I doubt Canadians are so far gone as to fall for the New Liberals, same as the old libtards and Harper Derangement syndrome is getting real old.
People keep confusing the rubbish from our old media, the media party as if their pronouncements are credible, polls are the new truths? Polls always miss the POV of conservatives, who either refuse to participate or in CBC’s case deliberately lie.
How many people are led by a media that can’t even get a hunger strike right, when given a month to do so?
If the conservatives would be loud and proud of their values, more voters might turn out.
What a choice we are going to get, assuming Justin lasts that long, Harper or Pierre the Idiots Justin.
Such tough choice, like Ron Paul said,”Never mind your ideology, can you add?”

  22. “I’m afraid of Justin Trudeau’s hidden agenda.”
I’d be amazed if had a single agenda, let alone a hidden one. If he gets to be PM he will be someone’s puppet. He’s really, really dumb.
    Really dumb. D U M dumb. I can’t stress this enough.

  23. I voted ‘NO’ ten times.
You should never allow an American or French Islamic Appeaser to vote or be on the ballots in Canada.

  24. From the National Post:
“Prime Minister Stephen Harper responded Thursday to say there’s nothing wrong with the Conservatives using taxpayer dollars to finance a bulk mail campaign against Trudeau.”
Harper would do very well in North Korea.
