“Now you’ve got a budget of three and a half trillion dollars in this fiscal year. This will take $85 billion out of it. That’s [snip] near a third….You can’t take 30, you can’t take 30 percent of operational money out and expect to have the same product. You can’t do it! It’s impossible!”
h/t EBD

It’s not insanity and it isn’t a case of mistaken arithmetic. This is evil genius type stuff. When you KNOW that your core (viewers or voters) will take that information AS IS, believe it whole heartedly, and set about to convince a bunch of their peers who don’t know any better that it is true.
And there are people who actually believe his math? They should loose their vote!
Math and the leftist economics are two mutually exclusive concepts. One is reality based one is myth based.
United States of Zimbabwe, coming soon to a country near you. Just wait until their ‘continuing resolutions’ are measured in quadrillions and quintillions.
Truthers, warmists, flat earthers and urinalists. Same but different, only barely. Then there are the vaccuous occupiers, leftards and idle some more crowd that slurp this crap up feeling so smug and superior to someone who dares question its validity. I don’t believe for a moment that it was an honest mistake. A deliberate attempt to further deceive the public. We are so screwed.
Or at least, lose their vote.
It’s official, minus some small tot having the honesty to blurt out the obvious about the state of undress of the current emperor.
Hi folks cut him some slack. He’s a Socialist, he does Socialist Math, just like our own home grown socialists, Trudeau, Mulcair and others of that ilk. Here is an article explaining the problems that socialism is facing in the USA. 144T in unfunded debt load. Canada has 4T Total Sovereign Debt with only 16M tax payers to carry the burden. http://www.zerohedge.com/article/245-trillion-us-national-debt-144-trillion-unfunded-liabilities-2015?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+zerohedge%2Ffeed+%28zero+hedge+-+on+a+long+enough+timeline%2C+the+survival+rate+for+everyone+drops+to+zero%29&utm_content=Yahoo!+Mail
Dear RBB
tinyurl.com
To a Leftist, math is a matter of opinion. As this was aired last week, I wonder if he corrected himself on a subsequent episode. In any event, even if he was confronted, he would yell some obsenity, blame it on Bush and never fess up to his own stupidity. Arguing with a Liberal is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, crap on the board and strut around like its victorious.
The accuracy of the numbers is irrelevant! It is the emotional impact of their words that is important. That impact will stay long after any grumbling half hidden “correction” that no one sees or hears.
Nancy “pass the bill to find out what’s in it” Pelosi: Every dollar spent on unemployment generates $1.47 in ecomonic activity.
Maxine Waters: 170 million Americans will lose their jobs due to current sequester.
The progholes design their comments for maximum impact, not accuracy. As they beleive they are the only ones smart enough to run our lives then their lies are OK as, in their minds, they are actually for our own “benefit”.
The fact that these people aren’t mocked out of the public square terrifies me.
I like BobC’s comment about the “evil genius”, but I have to go with Napoleon’s comment, “Never ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence”.
Well, if you watch the Reader Tips by Black Mamba @ 5:05 am regarding the Kimmel clip on the public’s responses to the street question about Obama sending the sequester to Portugal you can understand why the leftist nut jobs get away with this blatant ideological stupidity.
It isn’t a ‘one-off’ situation which was what Napoleon was referring to, it’s a pattern of behaviour with Leftists.
Never ascribe good-faith motives to Leftists, ever.
“When I use mathematics,” Ed Schultz said, in rather a scornful tone, “it comes out to just what I choose it to come out to — neither more nor less.”
“The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make mathematics come out to so many different things.”
“The question is,” said Ed, “which is to be master that’s all.”
Who?
Oh, the insane MSNBC mouth-breather.
Who cares?
It’s that New Math. Ed feels good about his answer, so he gets at least a B.
This is impossible to ascribe to incompetance, when considering the quantum of like pronouncements….IT IS MALICE!
First and foremost is the simple fact this is not a cut in spending but rather a reduction in the increase of spending.
Layoffs of border agents and cancelling USN deployments/sailings are totally un-neccessary because they ARE funded….because there is no cut to spending just a reduction to increses.
It’s doesn’t arise to the level of sophistry….it’s just Bravo Sierra.
Wadda ya expect when the media needs cigarettes and cuddles after the “won” gives a speech?
Math is hard.
It is part of the new math being taught these days called rounding up. so in thirds 1/0.024 rounds up to 1/3
MSNBC must have IQ tests for their TV hosts. Anything above 80 is rejected automatically because it would be above what their viewing audience could comprehend. The intellectual level for staff can be seen even in the washrooms.

The comment from Markon is spot on. They make shit up, usually to the detriment of the right. They know they will never get called on it, and if they do, it is quietly corrected in the night. This pattern is increasing with frequency, removing all doubt that it is an anomaly but a Democrat strategy that has gone mainstream.
Ed Schultz does not write his own material. He -reads- it. So its not an accident. Somebody decided to roll with that. Ed baby still got paid, right?
And yes, I do believe Ed Schultz IS stupid enough not to know that 30% of three and a half trillion is more than 85 billion. If you put it in scientific notation for him his tiny head would likely explode.
I mean, Eddy makes his money shilling for people who are trying as hard as they can to destroy the country HE lives in. Don’t come much stupider. That’s dumber than a bag o’ hammers.
Ed Schultz’s radio show rant was simply a public service announcement notifying America that any opinion Ed might have on budgetary matters can be safely ignored.
In the unlikely case there was someone who didn’t already know that.
Ed’s teleprompter operator is out to show those three loyal viewers of MSNBC what a douce Ed is.
They probably should not bother as a certain segment of viewers are only watching for the comedy of brain dead stupid.
MSNBC,CBC and CNN are human comedy at its finest, no laugh tracks, no script, just the dance of the zombies writ large.
If time drags on your day, who better to watch and snigger?
Dunno John, personally I’d sooner watch paint dry than watch CNN. More informative. If you watch CNN for ten minutes you’re actually less informed and a bit dumber than you were before. Paint doesn’t do that.
This is exactly what I was getting at in my initial comment, Markon. And no, I don’t think it is incompetence (Stan Vinson) although I do love that quote. I think there are too many examples of people on the left making these “mistakes” in their public statements. The statements are meant to illicit an emotional response. Like throwing a firecracker at someone from behind and when they jump at the sound of it exploding, telling them that the sky is falling. Schultz’s audience will not look around for the evidence of the sky falling, they just commence doing the Chicken Little.
If only there were some way to keep stupid people from voting…oh yeah, that is unfair. Say do pilots have to take a test before flying people around, maybe voters should have to take a test too, so we know they won’t vote for someone that will crash the country…
There’s lies, then damn lies, then statistics.
Special Ed played a lot of football in his youth (true story) safe to say his left leaning and lack of math skills are related.
Michelle tries to be all morally superior but things go horribly wrong.

Ed can cover this story too.
Math is hard.
For the record the cut – using Ed’s numbers is 2.4% for the year. that’s about one day of govt spending in a business day year.
And the “cut” is actually just a decrease in the growth rate. and the total amount in either case is far above the level of govt spending – even adjusted for population growth – than it was before Obama became POTUS.
Public displays of innumeracy should be capital crimes. A few moonbat MSM figures hanging by the neck from lamp standards might suddenly make a few of the others decide that perhaps it might be worthwhile learning math (about as likely as pigs flying given their IQ levels), or to find someone who actually knows something about math to check their numbers.
Heinlein said it best:
Anyone who cannot cope with mathematics is not fully human. At best he is a tolerable subhuman who has learned to wear shoes, bathe and not make messes in the house.
Actually Schultz is even funnier than he knows. If they did cut the budget by a third that would be two and a half trillion. Otherwise known as what Bush was spending in 2008. Cut it by TWO THIRDS and it would take the budget ‘waaaaay back into the dark ages of… 2002. When Bush spent a trillion and a half.
But but but… that’s impossible!
Stopped even tuning past or thru those lefty whacko stations after the return of ZERO. They can wallow in their shite.
The constant shilling is too much to even pay attention to, given their conclusions regarding the GOP, to wit” If the GOP was more like the Democrats, people would like them.”
Yep, one party rule, that’s democracy, Democrat style.
Thank goodness they don’t waste bandwidth on the HD side of the dial…..
3%? 0.002%? As our former Shrew of State would say, “What difference does it make?”
I dbout big Ed came up with this complicated mathematical calculation on his own. I’m sure his good friend Rachel Maddow helped him with it.
That “ask flotus” header is a little too close to”ask flotsam” for comfort.
