  1. There used to be a restaurant in Halifax called “Mother Tucker’s”. That was an unfortunate name. I mean, I’m sure Mrs. Tucker was a lovely old dear, but still…

  2. Assuming that magazine capacity restrictions will stop mass shootings is like assuming that smaller beer bottles would stop drunk driving.

  3. You don’t have to operate a laundry that says “Whites Only” to be considered racist. Saying that Obama is lazy will suffice.

  4. Just finished a novel by John Ringo, ‘The Last Centurion’. I highly recommend it. He chronicles in the first person, how a flu epidemic in 2018 kills 40% – 50% of the people in the world, how ‘progressives’ handle it vs those in flyover country. The narrator is military, trapped in the middle east after flights are canceled, countries quarantined and so on. He narrates his unconventional campaign to get home against all odds and the clusterf*!& of politics and bureaucracy in a PC world. Great read. Highly irreverent with lots of foul language. It was published in 2008 and suggests a PC, affirmative action female Democrat President; reads like a prophecy of what is happening today in the USA.

  5. Kate – your earlier posting “Those Moderate Muslims” does not open. However, I was able to open the link that it is pointing to and read it. Actually quite interesting. You may want to re-post it.

  6. National Post “Less than half of Canadians support the Idle No More movement: poll” .. wouldn’t hold your breath to see this on the CBC.

Among those Canadians surveyed who say they have First Nations ancestry, 52% said they did not support Idle No More, the poll showed.

“The First Nations individuals they surveyed, they seem to [have] very similar [views] to the Canadian population in general,” he said. “It could be that Idle No More appeals to a particular segment of the population, but not perhaps the broader group of First Nations individuals.”

  7. Back in the early days of PC, San Francisco shut down a laundry business owned by a Chinese family, citing that it perpetuated stereotypes.

  8. File this under the “scratch a leftist” file –
Time Warner has announced it will run no more gun commercials – yet at the same time its Hollywood wing churns out the shoot-em-ups with tons of gooey gratuitous violence. That is akin to Nero passing laws against violent graffiti but running spectacular massacres of Christians in the forum. I guess the new politics has it that the general public are too dumbed down to recognize gross hypocrisy.

  9. Years ago, a cartoon in Playboy depicted a trafic altercation. A burly truck driver has just emerged from a huge tractor trailer, the side of which bears the words “Mother’s Bread”. Before him stands a wimpy, scared driver of a small sports car. The caption reads: “All I said was, you Mothers truckers ought to be more careful.”

  10. Have you ever noticed that your reading comprehension is slightly but unmistakably better when you’re reading hard copy – a book, a magazine – than when you’re reading a lengthy article on a web page? It might have to do with scrolling, as opposed to page turning; there is a kind of physical geography – a location – to the ideas on a printed page, whereas “Scrolling moves the text on a page. And moving text, even if it’s under your control, will break your reading rhythm.”
    This fellow proposes a solution:

I want the world to scroll this way.

  11. The Las Vegas Sun reported yesterday that Steven Brooks, a Democrat politician in Nevada, was arrested for threatening Marilyn Kirkpatrick, the Speaker-elect in the State Assembly. Sources said he was arrested with a loaded gun after threatening to shoot Kirkpatrick.
The Associated Press report, though, somehow forgot to mention the whole “gun” thing, and didn’t use the word “Democratic” until nine paragraphs into the story.

  12. Lie back and think of progressive England:

“Why are you bothering me? I’m not, I’m not..”
“Because you’re walking through a Muslim area dressed like a fag. You need to get out of here.”
“I am getting out of here.”
“Get out of here quicker then. Get out of here quicker then. You’re dirty. Admit you’re dirty. This is a Muslim area. Get out of here…get out of here, you fag…”

  14. I’m pretty sure that Anjem Chowderhead would not be so assertive if Britons were allowed to arm themselves.

  15. Jema54 “leagues of teachers”?
I think a large flocking together of teachers is commonly referred to as a squadrone of teachers or a leftilla of teachers.

    From AP Video:
President Barack Obama is pledging to respond to what he calls “the threat of climate change.” He says that failing to do so would be a betrayal of the nation’s children, and of future generations. (Jan. 21)”

  17. Of Obamunist O’narcissist’s Big Lie.
    “Oh, and they LIE!”
    …-
“So, to the major point; the Obamunists run like public employee unions. They organize around the f**kups, they ram whatever they can down the throat of the opposition by brute force, and only respect those with the power to hurt them. If they call you names, you’re doing something right. They never forgive or forget. Much of Comrade Obama’s ardor for the “assault weapon ban” is based on the fact that they had it and lost it; it’s their lost pocket knife and they won’t rest until they get it back. Our legislature refused to fund a 3.6% wage increase for the unions in ’86; I’ll guarantee you that I couldn’t get half an hour into a meeting with a union rep without hearing about how that 3.6% increase was “taken away” from them. I got some pretty significant concessions from them over the years and they never once accepted the bargain; they tried through politics or grievance arbitration to get it back in every way and at every opportunity. Oh, and they LIE!”

  18. From Maz’s 7:21 PM link, Leo Linbeck, guest-posting for Richard Fernandez, quotes Patrick Brennan at NRO:

Today on ABC’s This Week, after Rick Santorum explained that Americans are protective of their right to buy guns because they “want to feel safe,” former Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm offered a reassuring sentiment: Americans needn’t worry about protecting themselves, because they have President Obama, and “he sees himself as protector-in-chief.”

Perhaps it’s time to reconsider this whole “suffrage for women” thing.
