Stephen Harper will travel to New York this month to receive a “World Statesman of the Year” award from an organization called the Appeal of Conscience Foundation.
The ACF, founded by New York-based rabbi Arthur Schneier, has previously given the award to former British prime minister Gordon Brown, as well as to France’s Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Last year’s recipient was South Korean Lee Myung-Bak.
via BCF, who has reaction from the left.

Hell, why not? Obama saved the world from obliteration by war in his first week in office. Awards usually don’t mean much but…..Hell, why not?
Why is the CBC not reporting on this? Oh, right.. because Justin Trudeau was not proclaimed “World Statesman of the Year”.
In other news, the Huffington Post found Stephen Harper to be the worst Prime Minister of all time.
I didn’t realize that there were so many modern-day Nazis living in Canada keeping dispicable Jew hatred alive by posting those horrific comments at that socialist rag.
The hatred within the left is beyond comprehension. In a desparate act of cutting off one’s nose to spite their face, this hatred manifests itself as they consciously and consistently side with evil, each and every time.
Good for Stephen Harper.
Eskimo, exactly.
No doubt the left would prefer Hugo Chavez get the award.
It’s because the certain voices on the left have gone ‘functionally insane’.
“A completely unreasonable person who constantly reacts with anger or any other extreme emotion when they do not get their way often over simple things “normal” individuals take in stride, but not insane enough to be placed in a home (due to frequency of occurences) but still causes enough misery and grief for themselves and others around them.”
So PM Stephen Harper wins an award; why would that cause the commentator to have a National Socialist conniption fit? Is this comedian seriously going to posit that von Ribbentrop is going to hand out the award? This person’s internal compass is all messed up or they are merely saying something to stir up strife. Charlatans, such as BCF has discovered, should given all the attention they deserve; none.

Where do they find all those people to make such ignorant comments? Apparently Harper wants to get rid of the Charter of Rights. Then why hasn’t he passed one law notwithstanding the charter. Apparently we shouldn’t like him because he raised taxes – but he lowered them. These creatures get to vote?
The stupidity of it all is conservatives wouldn’t consider Harper anything but a centrist, maybe slightly left of Chretien, when he was in office. Harper usually chucks his right-wing supporters a symbolic plum every year but the whole tax/borrow/spend big government still rules.
Hans, have you ever noticed that the lefties, in high dungeon, will accuse their enemies of being hitler, himmlerv , gobbels, and most recently of being eva braun.
One thing that always made me curious, nobody’s ever accused of being Hermann Goering, then it hit me, he was a gay, drug addict, who had pretentious to being a lover of the arts…. in a capsule, a modern liberal
robins111: A great observation about Goering. I must point out though, that I believe you meant “high dudgeon.” Dungeons are usually rather low; the good ones anyway.
Good for Harper. He’s the best PM Canada has ever had, and is indeed, a world statesman. Nobody even comes near to him. Too bad he couldn’t be President of the US; they badly need him.
I can’t handle reading the G&M comments. I’ve never come across such hysterical hatred of Harper. It’s deranged, insane rhetoric, without evidence, without reason. Sounds just like the screaming jihadists.
‘Agreed ET.
Then Jesus said to them, “Prophets are not without honor, except in their hometown, and among their own kin, and in their own house”
(Mark 6:4).
This saying certainly applies to our fine prime minister. I am very proud of him. He’s exceptionally deserving of this honour.
What I really admire about PM Harper, among many things, is that his ego doesn’t get in the way of his doing what needs to be done. He’s been slagged and trashed by the MSM and our Leftard idiots for years but he doesn’t let this stop him. He just keeps going straight ahead because he has his priorities in order: Work and duty before what others think of him — especially the Canadian consensus media and the Leftard, eedjut political parties.
I suspect the media are at the bottom of his list of priorities, as they should be. They’re bottom feeders.
I can’t read any more of the comments. They are so grating. How stupid can people be?
I am a firm believer in air-lifting useful idiots to the globe’s hot spots. If they think Israel and Harper suck, leave them alone in Tehran with an American flag stapled to their butts.
“Former prime minister Jean Chretien received [the “World Statesman of the Year” award] in 2002 …”

Le p’tit gars won’t be too impressed to be sharing the honours with PM Harper.
I wonder what Chretien did to deserve it?
babt and ET are pretty much, as they say, “spot on”, as usual. Osumashi Kinyobe also has a great comment: actually, if people followed this advice, this mess could be over faster than we had ever thought possible.
I did hear that, in addition to the award as described, there was an Iranian-Canadian rally on Parliament Hill to thank the government for breaking-off diplomatic relations. Have I got that right? Assuming I do, isn’t there a case to be made for, you know, “my friend, Steve’s”, or in Barack’s case, “my friend, Stephen’s”, take on multi-culturalism: “I don’t care where you came from, but I do care about where you’re going.”
As for the comments at The Mop and Pail, don’t worry too much: it doesn’t reallly know who it is anymore. I like to read it about once per week — not that I’d ever buy it; somebody or other usually drops an unwanted copy in my lap: the editorial line is systematically Liberal, whereas the rest of the paper is systematically Harper.
As for me, I’m now going to listen to “How do you like me now?!” by Toby Keith — 10 more times!
Went to the G&M site and read the rather terse article. There are now 2,677 comments and at least 90% of them are leftist froth.
Just wow.

Those comments from the anti-Jewish faction are deluded. The Idea that 14 million people control 8 billion is an insane concept. They buy it though. Pushed along no doubt by Muslim Buddies who hate them as Dhimmis behind their backs. I don’t know weather to weep of laugh. This I do know though, Toronto is not the center of Canada anymore. The folks on that paper are under the spell that only what this City says has meaning. Meanwhile the rest of the Nation laughs at them.
Revnant Dream, don’t forget the Illuminati and the saucer people. They control things, as well.

Mere red herrings. Its actually beavers with telepathic powers who rule Planet Earth.
My brother in law … is really bent out of shape about this.
Good!
My God, Revnant Dream, what do we do?
We can laugh at this but there probably is someone out there who believes it. I wish I was kidding.
the only organization who would give wards to the evil a dolph harper is the cnurch of satan :thought f from star editor.
