  1. Yeah well when I heard of this Bravo Sierra last evening…..I decided that e-mailing Chiquita was pointless.
    Here locally I shop a lot at Sobeys….so I e-mailed them instead….
I suggest also National grocers(Loblaws) and IGA-Dominion for such attention.
The presence of Dole and Del Monte gives these corporations alternatives.
Ezra’s boycott of Chiquita has merit but representations to the retailers could yield more immediate results…..these large retailers involve marketing departments who are very image conscious.
These stores biggest nightmare would be customers coming in going directly to produce, declaring their views about Chiquita, and then taking their business elsewhere.
    Hit ’em where it hurts…

  2. Chiquitta is so screwed.
Boycotted by the sane people and if the back off the greenie blackmail, the Eco Nutters will boycott them
If they are that stupid, they deserve to be out of business.

  3. andycanck – I see what you did there. You made that pun. You weren’t yellow, and you didn’t slip on it.
    I respect that.

  4. I printed some 4″ x 5″ signs that say,
    “Boycott Chiquita Products.
The owners of Chiquita Fruits and Fresh Express Salads do not want fuel oil from Canada used in transporting their goods. They support the Eco-whackos who want to stop the development of the Oil Sands and support buying oil from the tyrants and dictators in the Middle East, Africa and Venezuela. These despots are accumulating wealth to buy weapons to destroy the Western civilization, and kill us. Please buy Dole fruit products and make your own salads.”
I have been placing them in the Chiquita banana and Fresh Express displays.
I know, but it feels good.

  5. Chiquita obviously wants a boycott. I mean how do they get bananas to Canada without using oil sands oil. We are doing them a favour.
You would figure that management would be cognizant of the risks of political involvement because of the number of times they’ve screwed it up in the past.

  6. Social justice/eco activism from US Fruit. Truly, their management is utterly insane.
But on the bright side, all the freakazoid Lefties out there have to live with the fact that hated, eviled, eeeeeevile US Fruit is now, officially and irrevocably, on THEIR SIDE.
How ya like them apples, Dr. Dawg?
    BWAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. DaveJ, thanks for the heads up.
Looks like we need to add Dole to the boycott list as well.
What Sasquatch had said about applying pressure to the nation grocery chains to switch their banana suppliers to a source other than chiquita (and apparently Dole) is excellent. This kind of leveraging combined with the large scale public awareness that SDA & Sun News are providing would bring the massive fruity corporate terrorists to their knees.
Time to OFS (Occupy Fruit Stands) neutralize the propaganda coming from Big Banana(TM).

  8. Should have read:
“Time to OFS (Occupy Fruit Stands) and neutralize the propaganda coming from Big Banana(TM).”

  9. I think Coca Cola should be added to the list. They are giving millions to the WWF, supposedly to “save” the totally not endangered Polar Bear. There are many, many companies that should be targeted the same way as Chiquita/Dole. There ought to be a handy list…

  10. No problem Mark R.
Dole’s facebook page is being bombarded with posts from forest ethics, and the youtube link was Dole’s response to their pressure tactics. It’s time the “majority” start to speak up against these eco-terrorist groups. The only way companies like Dole and Chiquita will know what the masses want and think is if we all start to make our voices heard as well, but, on a MUCH larger scale than these eco-facisits. There are only about 10 forest ethics supporters on Dole’s facebook page trying to bully them into boycotting the Oil Sands.
It’s amazing that such a small number of people can become the voice of all, when the majority don’t speak out against the few.

  11. And just how much Canadian foreign aid goes to the banana republics that Chiquita deals with? Might be worth it if the conservatives reminded the corrupt Costa Ricans and Panamas that we deal in ethics in Canada, they might try the same, I mentioned before about a Costa Rican corrupt court vetoing a Calgary mining companies fully approved permit all on the urging of these thieves called environmentalists, ruined the livelihoods of hundreds of poor people without any other work in northern Costa Rica, well done you despicable Greenpeace Sierra club creeps, starving people is always good for the stability of society.

  12. if anybody can come up with better lyrics, please do! HAHAHA
(to the tune of Abba’s Chiquitita – yes I am that old)
    Chiquita, we’ll you what’s wrong
    You’re enchained by eco-wackos
In your eyes there is scary global warming
    Al Gore has brainwashed you
There is no way you can deny it
We can see that you’ve bought the stupid bullshi*
    Chiquita, tell the truth
    You’ve done human rights abuses
Now your eco best-friends, have made you choose oil dictators
You were always sure of yourself
Now I see you’ve slipped on your own peel
Ethical oil, you fools, is what you should have chosen….
    Chiquita, you and I know
How the causes come and they go and the scars they’re leaving
You’ll be apologizing again and the boycott will end
You will have no time for proselytizing
    Chiquita, eco-wackos cry
But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you
Let’s see you sell bananas again once more like you did before
    Sing a new song, Chiquita
Sell fruit once more like you did before
    Apologize, Chiquita

  13. What we really need is some Japanese inspection.
How does that work? The Japanese government perfected letting fresh produce sit in a container at the border til someone, someday gets around to inspecting it.

  14. // encouraging Canadians to stand up for ethical, Canadian oil and boycott Chiquita for their decision to rely on conflict oiL //
But of course. That’s why I boycott Quebecor products.

  15. And let us not forget that Dole is primarily from Cuba. And as another poster said, boycott Coke,as they follow the WWF line. You know, some twits actually believe that polie bears and pengies live together, drinking Coke, thanks to Coke? How did our educamacational system become so fawked up?

  16. I received an answer from Safeway.
Canada Safeway Hi Fred. We are currently looking into this for you. We appreciate your patience as we research this. -Alex, Customer Service

  17. Well there’s Dole supporting “eco-terrorists” and then there’s Chaquita supporting terrorist-terrorists.
    >Chiquita admitted it had paid off the group AUC, the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia which is considered a terrorist organization by the U.S. government. Chiquita has agreed to pay the U.S. government a fine of $25 million dollars on the condition that it doesn’t have to reveal the names of the executives involved.

  18. This was a big blunder by Chiquita. Almost as big as abetting the murder of around 200,000 Mayan Guatemalans between 1984 & the early 90s for their land. La Grand Puta for them.

  19. I’ll bet Chquita is exclusively transported by Concorde Transport. The Quebec trucking firm whose trucks run on air and the laughter of children.
It makes me sick there are still firms out west here that continue to do business with these jerks.

  20. We need a catchy slogan type message to the Banana Heads like ‘Take your bananas and split!’.

  21. I won’t buy bananas for a long time till I know for sure who else is on this crusade, I’ll take
potasium supplement for now – this should be okay for my diet.
    MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL.
