Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Dr.D – That is hilarious, Grok, the alternative to Franco would have been, far, far, more sinister!
So Castro outlived him — lost a bet on that one.
Watching the news coverage, I am nauseated by the number of people who are identified as “Libyan Canadian”. You’re either Libyan or you’re Canadian. I’d really like to see Jason Kenney take this multiple citizenship BS by the horns, and make people who adopt Canadian citizenship renounce all others, as the US used to do. If you want to become a citizen of this country, you should commit to it, not just use it as a passport of convenience when your hell-hole of a homeland blows up.
It will be interesting to see which direction Libya will go. Being a pessimist I think it’ll be even worse there with lots of infighting but who knows?
BlackMamba/Knight99: I was listening to the Ricochet Podcast a few weeks ago and one of the people they talked to suggested that if the riots in Libya caused it to descend into chaos there would be a massive refugee crisis in Europe. With a lot of north africans and not just Libyans paddling across the mediterranean. So the powers in Europe were begging for a US intervention.
It’s either that or Qaddaffi was trying to establish a Randian libertarian paradise “Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?” đ
Someone ought to warn hell that he’s about to arrive.
You guys have said it all.
I will just underline and endorse Rob C’s comment @ 10:24.
Osumashi, exactly, even the enemies of the people had jobs…that is until the job in the gulag killed them.
I never have figured out exactly why Obama did this. Maybe what Shawn said; or the French oil thing?
~Black Mamba
It was the French oil thing.
It was because the French prematurely recognized the ‘rebels’ as the new government,(to get a new oil contract with them) burning their bridges with the old government(Qaddafi) and then to insure that they got that new contract the French had to make sure the ‘rebels’ won instead of lost their bid to take control of Libya and it’s oil.
In the process Libya, which as Knight 99 said had the highest standard of living in Africa, was laid waste in a civil war which lasted nearly 9 months when it would have been virtually untouched because Qaddafi was on the verge of defeating the ‘rebels’ in February.
Botched French foreign policy caused a lot of deaths there.
The worst part of it is that NATO is now the UN’s attack dog.
If I was a petty dictator, terrorist, or warlord anywhere in the world I’d be working overtime to acquire weapons of mass destruction.
Better the devil you know……….
The hope is always that the new regime will be friendly to the USA. These are people that hate everything Christian. The fact that we enshrine gay marriage and treat woman as equals is enough to insure they will continue to hate us and everything we stand for. Their idea of democracy and ours are incompatible. The only winner here is Iran. Next on the list no doubt. It will take years to find out whether taking out this dictator was a wise move. I have the feeling it was not. He was a flake but he could work with the West. His replacements are a guess that will probably fall on the wrong side of what we want. Time will tell.
Well now, Rob C – that is a whole other issue now isn’t it.
Someone should have warned Obozo that when he creates a vacuum he has no idea what will fill that hole. In the middle East – that hole will be filled by the MB. Careful what you ask for vacuum -head.
Doesn’t this qualify Qadaffi for a Nobel Peace Prize, albeit posthumously?
I can think of one or two recipients who’ve received it for less.
another Progressive world leader dies
Shawn >
Yea, I’m agreeing with you on this one.
Shawn, thanks for the link to the daily bell. Some interesting material there. I wasn’t aware of Khadafi’s African currency plans which are curiously similar to Saddam’s plan to ask for payment for Iraqi oil in Euro’s (he’d probably regret that decision today if GWB had concentrated on Afghanistan).
I wonder if pneumocephalic western leaders have ever wondered why certain dictators have been rather brutal. There are countries that seem to only be capable of being held together by such tactics. I doubt that Iraq is going to last much longer as a country and it will likely disintegrate even if the Iranians don’t help the process along. The only stable part of Iraq appears to be Kurdistan. Similarly, it appears that Egypt isn’t quite the ally that the US thought it was once Mubarek was no longer in power. Sometimes people learn through lots of repetition, but it doesn’t appear that Obozo has the mental capacity to do so as Libya is likely to be the largest mess of all.
Take home message should be that the only way that muslims will live in a country with western values is if they are beaten senseless if they ever get out of line. Hopefully PMSH will be able to understand this someday and end all muslim immigration to Canada and start a program to install IUD’s in all muslim women already here.
Now these people will really know suffering once the Muslim Brotherhood brings sharia law to them.
Make no mistake by this time next year they will be slaves all.
M and Oz, thanks.
meet the new boss…same as the old boss
or rather, from a different song…
second verse, same as the first, just a litle bit louder and a little bit worse…
Gadaffi, khaddafi, or however you spell it….he was an a$$, yes, but the people saying it was agood thing he was overthrown at this point in time are deluded if they think it’s going to improve the world in any way…it’s going to be a disaster…already thousands of SAM’s have been handed to terrorists in Gaza…even khaddafi didn’t do that…and the saddest and most infuriating part is that the NATO leaders knew it was going to happen, they can’t be that stupid or naive to expect that a ‘democracy’ will arise form the ashes of Libya….there may well be an election…one…and the outcome is already written, because even if the hardline islamists don’t win outright, they’ll just march in the streets and take control…after that, the rest of the world will be wishing for gadaffi back….
I heard that Michelle Obama has expressed interest in purchasing Qadaffi’s wardrobe.
“another Progressive world leader dies”
“Another rattlesnake bites the dust. Yea.”
Great comments here everyone. We need a few more bastards cleaned off the face of the planet:
Mugabe
Chavez
Ahmadinejad
etc.
I have always joked with my “progressive” friends that if I had full control over the UN, the first thing I would do is create an elite special forces group to take out the scum on the planet.
Gets them well and truly riled up. These pinkos are of course the same people that say George Bush should be arrested in Canada because a handful of smelly hairy terrorists were water-boarded. You simply cannot reason with the left. If anyone should be arrested it should be somebody like Gore for fraud.

Geeze now it’s starting to sound like we’re on the same page.
Maybe I was thinking about another poster on other threads that was way out in la la land.
Anyway, I agree with your posts on this one, to be sure, well said.
I lived in Libya for 5 years, it was a typical African sh*t hole, but not any worse than standard Arab fare. People griped about Gaddafi like anyone gripes about their leaders (Harper, Obamba, Bush etcetera…) at the end of the day most seemed pretty proud of their leader Gaddafi, especially if you sounded at all critical. If anything it’s a tribal thing, those of or associated with the traditional Qadhadhfa tribe verses other ethnic tribes.
That doesnât mean I like Gaddafi or even Arabs/ Islam for that matter. At the end of the day I want to leave them alone, and have them leave us alone by staying the f*ck out of our countries. Again whoâs promoting and allowing mass Islamic immigration to the west?
The UN assassinated Gaddafi, no two ways about it. We need to be very worried in the west “givingâ/ taking the UN unlimited power and allowing these elitist creeps to march our young around the world killing and dying for causes that have nothing to do with us personally. This is a global domination chess game and we are the pawns in it. We foot the bill, with our taxes and blood, and in return we get repression, the loss of freedom, liberty, and privacy along with lives filled with constant fear. Needless fear, and needless losses that only empower and enrich a few.
De Borchgrave: Former al-Qaida Leader Emerging as Strongman in Libya
There is a grave risk that the fractious nation divided along tribal lines could fracture or further weaken, creating a new breeding ground for terrorists, says de Borchgrave, who is on the board of LIGNET.com, a new Washington, DC-based intelligence analysis and forecasting service.

Room temperature at last! Thank Obama who personally snuck over on Air Force 2.5 and personally and heroically put the bullet in MK’s head, Personally, and with extreme bravery. GWB would never be brave enough to do that.
“Wherever there is a jackboot stomping on a human face there will be a well-heeled Western liberal to explain that the face does, after all, enjoy free health care and 100 percent literacy.”
John Derbyshire, National Review
Stalin, Mao, Saddam, Qaddafi, Castro, Mugabe, Assad, Admadijinehad, Chavez . . . whenever a dictator is as afraid of their own people as these guys are/were, it’s a sign they have to go. They’re afraid of their own people because they’re “stomping” on them and they know the people hate them. No matter how well the trains run or the society is ordered, the people are being oppressed.
Shawn said: “There is a grave risk that the fractious nation divided along tribal lines could fracture or further weaken, creating a new breeding ground for terrorists…”
Yep. That’s why we need an army, navy etc. to go sort out the next pr1ck that inevitably takes over from MooMoo The Dead Guy. Good thing Harper’s buying some new boats and airplanes.
That somebody bad might gain power is not an excuse to ignore the bad guy who’s currently -in- power. Just might have to drop a JDAM on the new guy too. Rinse and repeat until the rabble finally stops following tyrannical a-holes.
