A Day in The Hood

Since September of this year, I am no longer involved with any organization as I have found the City of Winnipeg is in no way interested in making the North End a better place. The organizations seem to be in place to placate the masses, spend tax payers money, and turn community volunteers into unpaid social workers. And we seem to just keep feeding people. Events seem to always include giving food to whoever shows up. We have become another level of soup kitchens in the city.
[…]
Right now, many people are crying victim, staying on social assistance, pulling themselves down, carrying on the alcoholic lifestyle of their parents, and contributing to criminal behaviour that is pulling the North End down, and nobody is calling them on it. They can ride the victim train the rest of their lives because anyone who questions it would be called racist. And the social services agencies give power to the victimization label, protecting the rights of those who are labeled, or label themselves as victims.
People need to be held accountable for their actions, and they need to learn to make correct decisions. They need to learn to live within Societies norms and they need to respect the laws of the land. People will never be accountable for their actions if they are given the option of being a victim.

  1. Nothing going to change until it’s happening on Bride Path, Rockliffe Park and Westmount.

  2. I lived in the North End of Winnipeg in 1966,it was a working class neighbourhood, with seedy areas, and trouble to be found if you looked for it, but mostly it was blue collar Europeans, first generation immigrants.
From what recent visitors tell me,the are has descended to Watts-North,only with lighter-complected residents.
Perhaps what the Manitoba government has to do to clean up the North End,is attack the root causes of poverty.
That’s a joke. A bad joke. And that’s what anti-poverty activists repeat ad nauseum.
One comment at the link mentioned the Justice System, and how it lets the side down by NOT incarcerating and rehabbing North Enders, and they won’t do that until the victim card can no longer be played.
I watched the Manitoba Aboriginal music awards on Youtube the other day. All the Indian kids were doing Rap videos.
No one mentioned that the Indian kids are being led to follow a culture of LOSERS.
Make Clarence Louis Minister of Indian Affairs.

  3. “People will never be accountable for their actions if they are given the option of being a victim.”
…. Given all the programs out there, (and their bias to perpetuation rather than giving a leg up), the amount of stuff given but not earned… Our society doesn’t just give the option… it gives encouragement to be a victim.

  4. “Make Clarence Louis Minister of Indian Affairs.” That would be an excellent choice.

  5. A great expose on the business (bureau) of ‘victimization’. The reference to personal accountability and responsibility keep appearing in several discussions here at SDA (see OWS). But it remains so politically incorrect to pin that as the real problem.

  6. Here is a great plan for welfare reform that Canada ought to adopt. It was made into law by then President Bill Clinton, a democrat no less. Welfare benefits for only 2 years at a time, 5 years maximum in a lifetime, and tax breaks for employers that hire someone off the welfare list.

I can just hear the NDP, and the left wing loons in general, going into cardiac arrest at just the suggestion. A majority for PMSH makes for no better time for this legislation. Let’s say it kicks in 5 years from this moment.

  7. NO WORKEE NO EATEE. That will end welfare. If you give out welfare the useless will line up. If you give out jobs instead of money the whole state will work.

  8. Herman Cain talks about the victim mentality keeping Blacks in America down. The same is happening here with the victim mentality Natives.

  9. Read Theodore Dalrympole Life at the Bottom is about dregs of Britain that sounds like North End of the Peg.

  10. In this day and age in saskatchewan, when every employer is looking for help even offering to train people, why are we still paying these parasites to sit on there ass and do nothing.??Give any ablebodied person six months to find a job, then the gravy train ends.

  11. Just repeal the Indian Act and disband the Dept. of Indian Affairs. That ought to handle about two thirds of it right there. The other third will respond to a Rudy Giuliani “Broken Windows” policy. Enforce building and fire codes, arrest guys for littering, overnight there will be NO CRIME.
This will not happen of course because then about half the city employees will have nothing to do, and will get laid off.
And you Lefties wonder why we mock you.
