Too often in Canada self-proclaimed blowhards pump themselves up to be brave heroic figures. In truth though, they’re just narcissistic phonies. Their actions pose no threat to their personal safety. In fact, often their actions help to pad their stature amongst the Far Left crowd they’re so desperate to please. Here’s one recent example. Here’s another. And here’s yet one more.
In contrast to the faux heroism, yesterday Roy Green interviewed a real hero named Sakena Yacoobi. You can read more about her here. May Dr. Yacoobi set a high bar for others to strive for!

The Parliamentary page who “acted out” displayed both a lack of intelligence and contempt for Parliament.
Punting such a ‘little Princess’ out of a job for which she is not qualified is appropriate. Unfortunately, the media, by giving the incident more publicity than it deserves, is only encouraging more of the same.
Just before the electorate spoke, a question of contempt for Parliament was held by the lamestream media to be an unforgivable sin. Now, not so much.
b-b-b-but…. she’s a MUZZIE !?!!??!!!!
(I thought that was verboten @ SDA. oh wait, land of the hypocrites here)
Dr.Yacoobi mentioned the importance of mentors.
There is always something to be learned from others and life seems to be (for me, anyway) this never ending learning process.
It is easy to sit back and commentate, but you don’t learn much if you don’t go out of your comfort zone. Dr. Yacoobi was willing to do that and it was important to her. Kudos!
ping, thanks for reminding us how prejudiced the left is. Slogans and chanting are as deep as you get. Dr Yacoobi is indeed setting the bar high. I admire her and the work she’s doing. It is unfortunate that people like her are stuck in a belief system that is so readily exploited by violent crazies.
For example: (h/t Drudge)

Attn: Ping – Contrary to popular belief, I don’t hate Muslims either, but I have never agreed with extremists of any religion – be it Muslim, Jewish, Christian or Hindu. I also do not tolerate “victims” – people who feel that others owe them a living. Kudos to Dr. Yacoobi – she is doing something concrete under extremely difficult circumstances – good on her and those helping her.
Indeed, there is no doubting Dr. Yacoobi’s courage. However, sending these teachers to be mentored in “student centered learning” is laughable. Our own system is collapsing from the educational establishment’s leftward move away from subject-centered, teacher-inspired learning. That is a lot of effort on the part of Yacoobi to further the interests of educational theorists.
Bringing a bunch of Afghan women to Saskatoon doesn’t make her a hero, in my books. All that accomplishes is increasing the terrorist breeding stock in our community. Every Afghan immigrant/refugee I know of is involved in criminal activity. There really is such a thing as bad blood.
Two thumbs up for Dr Yacoobi. I’ll see if I can help support her cause in some way.
I’d be more impressed if the Canadian “womentorship” weenies had taken their estrogen-power to Afghanistan. Where there’s a faint possibility they could be useful. Faint chance of that, right?
I hope Dr. Yacoobi and associates get something useful out of the trip, even if only a holiday from danger.
Any chance they’ll teach these poor women to shoot?
Thought not.
Can’t disagree with the hero concept for the good Doctor, but I have to take issue with one of the examples of what you obviously don’t like labelling as a hero. Marc Emery isn’t necessarily a “hero”, but he is being wronged, every second that he sits in an American jail for American crimes he committed in Canada. It’s not the pot issue that bothers me, it’s the sovereignty one, and the fact that the American justice system promised him he would serve out his sentence in Canada, but they instead labelled him as some kind of “dangerous offender” and transferred him to Mississippi. Meanwhile, Mr. Kadhr is welcome to serve out the remainder of his 8 year sentence in our country. Maybe you think he’s the hero. IMHO you can’t call yourself a Canadian patriot when you approve of a Canadian citizen serving time in a foreign jail for committing crimes illegal in that country while somehow actually being in this country. To repeat myself, because for some reason so many people just don’t seem to get past this, it’s not about pot, it’s about soveriegnty!
Big Cry
marc emery broke a USA law in the USA while he was in canada, try understanding that (I don’t actually agree with USA drug laws). Marc made a pi$$ pot full of money doing so, he taunted the USA legal system and lost, BooHoo to poor marc
and as far a kadirt goes, there is rumor of stripping him of his Canadian citizenship
so your complaints on this are also questionable, as it was the liberals that wanted the little twerp back here, Harper not so much!
GYM socks:
I still have a problem understanding the situation, and I’m afraid you didn’t exactly help. You say he broke a USA law in the USA while in Canada. So which is it? He broke the USA law in the USA, or he broke the USA law while in Canada? I happen to know the answer. He broke a USA law while in CANADA! So, how is this different from the Iranian police arresting say, Kelly Block for not wearing a hijab in public? In SASKATOON! Or, maybe if someone gets caught with an illegal automatic handgun in Canada, who happens to have the reciept from where it was bought in say, Kentucky. The RCMP would, of course, travel to that state and arrest the store owner who sold it, right? Wrong, as the US government would go to WAR over it! But in Canada, it’s “sure, go ahead and arrest the guy, he’s just a stoner anyway, who cares if he’s a Canadian citizen?” Well, I do, I don’t care how much he taunted the Americans, he deserves the same protection from prosection from another nation as you or me. BTW, the exact offense he’s serving his time for isn’t even a crime there anymore!

Don’t be a maroon, this lady has more demonstrable courage in her little pinky than you will likely have to show in your entire life.
It is people like her who truly empower women, in a place where it means something real and dangerous, who will change the world for the better.
Ayaan Hirshi Ali and others are the only chance for evolution of a sclerotic theology that victimizes many millions of girls and women.
