    and therein lies the rub.

  2. Conservative: 171, NDP 48; Lib 42, Bloc 47
The problem with my projection is that the Bloc instead of the Libs become the “tird” party.
    Sacrafices have to be made.

  3. A very connected question here. What percentage is the “progressive” MSM worth to the Liberals, in suppressing Conservative vote totals and enhancing Liberal vote totals?
    Any predictions/estimates on that?

  4. I don’t have predictions yet, except that it looks like it might (gasp) actually turn into a slim Tory majority. (Cue clips of Brian Mulroney asking for a majority over 300 times in a 32 day campaign). This is my comment: check the CTV and CBC websites for the pictures of Harper accompanying the lead story. In both cases, his head is down, probably checking his notes or something but it looks like it is made to look like he is hanging his head, like in shame. No MSM bias here, is there? At least Global’s website has a full face portrait with their story, AND they have a columnist predicting a Tory majority! Not sure what that means.

  5. So far, everybody is out to lunch.
As we speak, Jacko, in his news conference, is stating unequivocally that he’s going to be the next prime minister.
Obviously, since they were already in the region in his recent surgery, they should have done a lobotomy too.
Afterall, health care is free, isn’t it?

Damn, that’s a lot of Conservative seats. I just punished each of the other parties a bit for calling another $300,000,000+ election, which Canadians just LOVE!!. If results actually turned out like that, I’d almost think Canada would be livable again longterm.

If Harper announces a HST deal with Quebec, Conservatives could get another 5 seats.

  11. I like doolebs numbers above. – it is possible.
There has never in living memory been a canadIan election where the choice been so clear: a conservative (read: small govt, low tax, assertive foreign policy with a respectable martial capacity and a focus on improving peace of mind for ones person and property OR
A coalition of the ndp lpc and the BQ that would be the farthest left regime in canadian history. A regime that would commit such lunacies as doubling the CPP and allowing the BQ to select senate nominations.

  14. Can someone point me to the interview of Ignatieff where he talked about all the things he couldn’t live without, and about his wife and he, reading War and Peace to each other?
I’m feeling the need to post that one far and wide.

Of course it is hard to see a complete Liberal Meltdown of their core vote. But there will be at least 3 Con MP’s with 416 area codes to their riding offices.
The more the coalition looks likely the less likely even Raklph Goodale will win his seat…kiss Dosanjh goodbye.

  16. Mike McCormick at 3:12 PM: “Not fair. Peter O’Donnell’s won already.”
I agree. Besides. I’m notoriously inaccurate at predicting election results.
All I can say is “groan”. Way to ruin the spring.
Oh ya. Is the Red River gonna flood? There could be some photo opps for aspiring Prime Ministers if they’re willing to pitch a single sandbag.

  19. doughdoughbyrd at 2:58 PM, I fear you might be correct. I’m bracing for a Canada-wide repeat of the mass suicide that happened in Ontario in 1990. Don’t throw your vote away in protest, folks. Remember what that did for the Dippers in Ontario.
