The Correctional Service of Canada has hired its first female Muslim prison guard who will wear a hijab specially designed for the dangerous institutional setting, QMI Agency has learned.
CSC confirmed the recruit is now on her second week of a nine-week training program in Ontario and will be placed as a guard in a men¹s federal penitentiary when she’s done.
As a correctional officer, she will be permitted to wear gloves and long sleeves to avoid skin-to-skin contact with male offenders in accordance with her religious and cultural practices, but has been told she may be required to remove them if circumstances require it.
“It has required some research on our part to ensure her religious and cultural needs are accommodated within the parameters of our requirements for safety and security of institution and staff,” said CSC national spokesman Graham Andrews.
After processing the recruit’s application, the CSC formed a working group to work out ways to address both the employer’s and the employee’s needs.
A special hijab head covering is being developed that will come off easily if an inmate grabs her, instead of giving the offender physical control.
Efforts are also underway to obtain equipment such as a breathing apparatus that works with the hijab.
CSC and the employee have also established a mutual understanding about physical contact with men, which is prohibited under the Muslim faith.

Sorry. You don’t know where I live. It is next door to the prison capital of Ontario. And, at 82, I’ve been here forever.
You can’t number the local people who work in the system. My relatives have been office workers, but believe me, even there it can be tense.
I know what kind of balls it takes for a female to go into a male prison.
In fact, I know the kind of balls it takes for a man to work in a prison.
This flake doesn’t want to be around men, let alone prisoners. It’s one big set-up, as everyone here seems to agree.

On the other hand, she could breast feed every male guard and every prisoner in the place; then, according to some very wise Saudi imam, they would all be her male relatives and being in their company would be no problem!
I’d like to address the costs issue of this whole silly business. Given the nature of bureaucracy, the costs of meetings, consultations, policy writing and so forth, must be astronomical – especially when everyone makes sure to cover their own a##es.
But as with most departments of government, for Corrections Canada “cost is no object”. My brother-in-law is a safety trainer who also works for his local volunteer fire department. He was recently contracted to provide ‘confined spaces’ training for our local federal penitentiary and was told they were replacing all of their airpack systems, with new, state of the art air packs.
He mentioned that his volunteer fire department would just about kill to have equipment like that which was being replaced. The response from the prison official was that all of the packs – about 70 of them – would be destroyed. Holes would be drilled in the cylinders, while the other apparatus parts would be destroyed.
Each of these destroyed units is (was) worth at least a thousand dollars and they had never been used.
Apparently, bureaucrats are more afraid of ‘liabilities’ than of the taxpayer – despite the fact that hard pressed fire departments would gratefully have the units tested and re-certified.
Nope. No waste in gov’t that I can see.
Just as the billions spent on the space program gave us Tang, Corning Ware, and who knows what all, it appears that this experiment will give us new tear-away hijab head-cover and a new emergency breathing apparatus. It won’t be long before we see them on an informericial. “And if you call right now, we’ll send a second tear-away headcover free (just pay separate shipping and handling).”

The problem with her selective use of shariah is that she is even accusing men in her family of wrongdoing what so ever.. She does not have the requisite four male witnesses to the rape, thus ineligible for remedy from the courts… But as a bonus, just because this alleged rape victim has spoken out, she has confirmed she is an adulterer..
But no… She gets to claim religious devotion while spitting on the faith she claims to follow..
