    However I think Bloomberg and the rest of the NYC/Washington aristocracy have badly misread the tone of the serfs. This thing is going to be bigger than the Healthcare scam.
    You don’t tug on Superman’s cape, know what I mean?

  4. See? Not all brits are bad; just all the ones you hear about. One or two of the old, angry ones who pre-date New Labour are okay.
    What must be done here is: Boycott the construction companies, boycott the unions (what fun!); boycott anyone who touches the building of this Mosque. They’re free to build it, and we’re free to have a problem with them building it. Pamela Geller is the perfect person to organize this.

    I was not aware of his anti-Christian, anti-Jew rants until now.

  8. Ian B: Wrong. Pat hates supremacism in any form. That doesn’t make him a Jew hater, Christian hater, or hater of anything else. Pat is 100% for freedom of religion, speech, association, etc. If you take him on the whole, he is remarkably consistent in his application to all groups.

  9. Well, this whole issue is very mixed for me.
    The hypocrisy of the left is stunning. On the whole mosque issue, you do NOT hear the left saying “lets respect what is sacred” (like they did with regard to cartoons of Mo). The Left is NOT saying “this action does not contribute to the conversation” (like they did when Ann Coulter was driven off Ottawa U). The left is NOT calling for a more moderate, progressive message (like they did with the firefighters statue at ground zero, where they changed the races of the firefighters. The left selectively applies their diversity crap… but we all know that.
    BUT … I am a purist wrt the 1st Amendment. I cant see the govt shutting this down, legally.
    I am not agreeing with the left, their arguments are mostly ass-backwards. But I do agree with the constitution. Don’t we have to grin and bear this one?

  12. There are certain elements across the bridge in “Jersey” who control cement AND unions who have quietly made it known there will be no cement and no union or non-union workers.
    Unless Bloomberg and OBOZO use the US Army Corps(e) of Engineers and the National guard to build and guard it, it just ain’t gonna happen…

  13. I just heard the author of this piece, Herbert London, interviewed. He made an interesting point that’s a variation on what Dennis Miller said. London’s version was this: “If someone owns private property beside the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor, is it legal for them to build a sushi bar? Of course. But is it appropriate? Of course not.”
    The lack of respect for the feelings of others amongst those pro-GZ Mosque supporters is startling.

  15. I agree with Revnant. We all need to start listening to the points a person makes on a given subject and then agree/disagree/debate on those points rather than blanket disagreeing with someone because of who they are. Remember, even a broken clock is right twice per day!
    I said pretty much the same thing re Conrad Black’s recent editorial. Everyone on the Left will close their mind from the get go because of who he is and that he was in prison.
    As for Condell, I guarantee that Christians won’t like what he has to say about Christianity. And I don’t generally agree with his condemnations about that religion but I’m open to listening to him.

  16. Pat Condell’s views are solid, strait forward and fair regardless of his personal belief system. The fact that he has made a comedic living for himself bashing religion does not distract from his messages of truth. You know truth when you hear it, and sometimes its good too reflect on your values based on the opinions of others whose voice speaks reasonably.
    You can always turn it off, and you can always dismiss what you’ve analyzed as bunk.
    It’s the people who took the time to allow the opinions of others to filter through their data banks that are our best and brightest.

  17. On the mosque,
    Whether or not this mosque as a physical building has a legal right to be built at the site, does not trump the philosophical building of it which amounts to a hate crime. At the very least it is a social provocateur that will undoubtedly lead to some violence at some point.
    In fact it already has with the lefty mosque support activist attempting to murder the taxi driver and they haven’t even broken ground yet.
    What does the CHRC say about free speech? Can Neo Nazi’s build a shrine commemorating Hitler in front of the downtown Holocaust Museum? Hell no.
    This is the kind of drama and social unrest the Liberal left craves. They “dance and be merry” in the chaos of social upheaval. This is why you will see the left hardliners come out from under a few rocks with this, and some sensible ones stand up and be counted against it.
    Watch and tally them up America.

    However …we can tally all we want and it won’t make any difference in the end. The fact that this is even being considered and being debated tells me the USA that we knew as Leader of Western Civilization is toast. It has not gone quietly, tho, as Canada did.

  20. The Islamists knew from the get go that the west would be offended, however they expected us to swallow the bile in the name of liberal tolerance and diversity. Well the libs can kiss my arse, building a monument to Islamic Terrorism and Islam’s hatred of non-Muslims has enraged the west and the Muslims’ response to our anger is an esculated list of Islamic grievance mongers lists of supremacists’ demands. Time we in the west tell the Islamic Grievance Mongers to pist off and shove off and to eat their lists of whining demands.

    Curiously the majority of Pat Condell’s many rants eloquently denounce Islam and Christianity. But not one specifically targets the nasty edicts as detailed in the Talmud. Might he be afraid of the repercussions if he did? Or is he a wolf in atheist shepherd’s clothing?
