  1. hey Lance, how about you start a contest for the best video ad to counter the SGEU ones that are claiming Saskatchewan as “ours”!! “Keep your hands off Mr Wall.” Implying he is some how a foreigner??

  2. So you elect marxists(lieberals) and socialists(NDP),and then cry when they take your money to fill their own pockects? And you expect sympathy from the West??? You guys really should check out where sympathy is in the dictionary.

  3. The Liberals are giving businesses a 4.6 billion dollar tax relief and say it will create 600,000 new jobs?! Maybe they should have thought about jobs BEFORE they increased business taxes a few years ago…just before their economy colapsed.

  4. I guess raising income and sales taxes is a “real accomplishment.”
No, that would be getting control of government spending, instead of expecting the taxpayer to pay for it, then spend it all, and need even more money.
Don’t follow the California or Greek model.

  5. never, never, never, repeat ad nauseum give the purse strings to people who think it’s theirs to do with as they please. Fight every lefty who Say’s hey the government should pay for my wants!

  6. “One thing about the NDP….
they know not to attack each other.”
    Publically, yeah.
Privately they’re like piranhas, even before they’ve consolidated power.
They always purge the weak, the heterodox, and those who would compromise with the political center.
It’s an ongoing battle to see who is the most radical.
Russia, China, Cambodia, Cuba… socialists always attack each other, like hyenas, after they’ve brought the Lion down.

  7. The thing that I thought was remarkable are the NS NDP plans….to eliminate 1000 swivell servants not by layoffs but by attrition over the next 4 years.
Plugging a leak rather than bailing….
maybe that part will catch on else-where….like Ontari-ari-o.

  8. two comments;
Nova Scotia; $9 Billion budget for 900,000 people? That’s $10 grand per person! WTF, WTFF! Does NS have a secret military force the ROC is unaware of?
Second; I’m a professional accountant. I cannot figure out where all these HST savings are coming from in BC where I live. The biggist expenses for a retail business are: cost of goods sold, payroll, rent. All three are already exempt from the prov. sales tax including the packaging for the items sold. For a manufacturer add production machinery and equipment, also exempt from prov sales tax. Any debt service is exempt as well. So maybe a business will save the 7% PST on some office supplies, furniture and fixtures.
Where business will get slammed is cash flow. Come July 1 their resale inventory and rent will need 7% more cash when bought. They’ll recover it during the next three months from tax collected but initially they must lay out the cash for a month or so. For some already at their credit limit it will mean sharply reduced inventory for a few months.

  9. A normal turnover is 7-8% a year. They are going to take 4 years to get rid of 10% by attrition. If this is true they are still hiring. Better to go 2,000 in four years. If you don’t have enough competent people to withstand that, you have another problem. Maybe seniority?

  10. I guess right wingers have given up on fiscal responsibility completely now eh?
NS takes action to solve budget issues and you complain about that?
Fed Tories can’t balance a budget, Bush couldn’t balance a budget. What good are you guys if you won’y pay the bills? Your social policy? Don’t make me laugh. The right would go back to 2 seats the election after Harper started implementing his social vision.

  11. Nobody likes paying more taxes but government services must be paid for.
Universal health care is the tapeworm that is feeding on government revenue and it has a big appetite. It consumes over 50% of all revenues at present.
This is the most important issue facing Canada. If universal health care is not reigned in it will bankrupt the country in 10 years. All other government taxing and spending issues are mere irritants in comparison.
Unless everyone is prepared to pay a lot more in taxes then we only have two choices: We can start to privatize the system or we can start rationing. One of these options is the pavement on the road to hell.

  12. the HST ‘tax blending’ is a cynical attempt to spread consumption taxation into the formerly immoral political taboo of life sustaining essentials.
Do we need a more stark reminder we struggle under a dissolute kleptocracy?

  13. A marxist front group like the BC NDP trying to pretend they find the thought of a more efficient method of collecting consumption taxes abhorrent doesn’t pass the smell test. Logic would suggest they are much more concerned at losing face among provincial gov workers and union bosses. Reminds me of Trudeau dishonestly campaigning against Stanfield’s support for those economic experts who advocated wage and price controls against the looming inflation disaster facing Canada. We all know what Trudeau did once he was safely back in power for another term.

  14. Gray, well said. The CRAPer’s (Conservative Reform Alliance Party) social policy, if implemented, would get them kicked into oblivion. That is why Harper keeps such a tight rein on this MPs, especially the backbenchers, as every time they open their mouths they spew forth some draconian crap about child care, crime, abortion, women’s issues etc.

  15. Liberal economics:
$6.4 billion in tax relief (business taxes) will create 600,000 jobs.
Average salary for the jobs created: $7,667.

  16. T has a sock puppet…….
Needless to say, any NDP opposition to the HST, in BC and Ontario, is just opportunism and posturing at its worst.
The NDP LOVES taxes and increasing them, especially to those big bad business owners, and THE RICH (anybody that makes more than $40k per year, according to Joyless McFailure).
The NDP, never to be trusted, ever. This does not excuse the BC Liberals from their bizarre, left-turn in the last 3 years. They are toast, unfortunately, thanks to gullible BC voters, this will likely mean a Marxist government next time round…..

  17. Gray & T, two socialist twits who imagine they have a direct line to PMSH thoughts, & imagine others are going to buy that nonsense.
Go back to your fellow fools on the leftist blogs.

  18. When a NDP politician speaks, put a hand on your wallet and the other over your butt ’cause you are going to get screwed and then have to pay for the priviledge.
I could list all the promises the NS folks were given if only they would elect the NDP but there are bandwidth considerations. Needless to say there are broken promises all over and even union folk that are bent that their God given wage increases are only 1%.
Personally, I support those free market lads that sell lobster by the side of the road or on the wharf rather than letting the simple servants and marketing boards piss it away.

  19. Two words sum it all up: real estate.
Getting $80K suddenly added to the purchase is priceless, pardon the pun.
How ontarians tolerate mcguinty is beyond me.
