    [When I asked Flannery about the notion reported in such climate change boosting newspapers as Britain’s left-wing Guardian, that the deal would mean a massive transfer of wealth from the developed world to the developing world, Flannery didn’t flinch. In fact he called this essential to the deal.

    So there you have it, a man who is firmly on the side of climate change, who runs his own council full of business executives who push for a legally binding treaty at Copenhagen, saying this all has little to do with climate change. So what is it all about then? ]
    When the people realize their freedom and their democracy is at stake they get a little pissed. Funny that.

  8. Calm down everyone. Gore knows what he is doing.
    He needs all this money so that he can properly position himself as a scientologist, after all there is no point joining that cult unless you are rich.
    It is true that he could have made money by other means. However, when something like running a worldwide scam is available as compared to, say, making investments based on known rules and law, well – one does what comes naturally.
    So my prediction is that in less than a year, Gore will have the necessary funds to place himself as a high level scient-nutter. Shortly thereafter, we’ll see him jumping up and down on Oprah’s sofa.

  9. Listening to Chqr in calgary yesterday – apparently in a speech in Dubai or some other Arab location, gore claimed that sea levels would rise 225 feet by 2020.
    He has jumped the shark. From here on the ridicule of him will grow exponentially.

  14. Soon in California any television that does not meet energy efficient standards will not be able to be manufactured or sold in the state. Further, in California one can not buy a gas powered lawnmower with say a Briggs and Stratton engine if it does not meet emissions requirements. Just look at any new mowers available in Canada and stamped on them is a label prohibited for sale in California. Perhaps California will lead the way in curbing emissions. Perhaps a carbon tax is in their future. All this under a Republican governor too. Wow.

    And the few remaining wealthy Democrats will be able to hire illegal aliens to trim their lawns with scissors.

    Except that’s not at all the issue and a completely false and ludicrous argument. It’s not his money that’s the issue….it’s everybody else’s money that he is going to rake in by dipping into the pockets of every taxpayer. THAT’s the issue. Gore makes Madoff look like Mother Teresa.

But if I invent a product that is supposed to save you from a non-existant threat and sell it to you, but don’t buy it myself, I’m not only a hypocrite, I’m an algore*.

    Dear Mr. George,
    In Canada, (as well as other jurisdictions I believe) it is prohibited for Doctors to own pharmacies. Why? Because it creates a very large conflict of interest. Doctors could be prescribing very expensive medications for ailments that don’t even exist!
    Perhaps you see the parallel. Mr. Gore has proposed that the world is coming to an end. However, I have not seen any real proposal on his part to truly solve this enormous problem. (At least Ed Begley is trying) The only proposal that Mr. Gore, or Chairman Maurice Strong, has come up with is the trading of Carbon Credits. These credits essentially allow for the continued degradation of the planet by the likes of China and India but places like Canada and the US must pay through the nose. Who is setting up firms to trade these carbon credits? Gore and Chairman Mo.
    I am all in favour of anyone making as much money as they can. However, I prefer they do it honestly by producing something that actually makes the world a better place. NOT BY FRAUD OR DECEIPT ON THE BACKS OF QUACK SCIENCE

  24. Al Gore method is to convince government to make his business profitable by passing favorable laws. Capitalism is about profiting by convincing the public to purchase their product. Polls show that the American public is increasingly skeptic of both AGW/Climate Change and the government ‘cure’. Since Gore’s economic success is now purely dependent on government, he is a rent-seeker.

  29. It is all drawing to a close. I just heard a ad on the blow torch CKNW 980 radio in Vancouver claiming that there is no global warming and it’s all a scam and there needs to be a serious debate.
    I think there are now more people and scientists (not that scientists aren’t people) who believe that there is no man-made global warming or climate change.
    The Sun is in charge of our climate with a bit of help from the ocean currents and cloud formations.
    It’s a hopeful sign when a radio station with big lefties like Bill Good and Christie Clark are head liners on the premier talk show slots. John Macolm and Phillip Till (other hosts) seem more sensible on this topic and many others.
    It’s hopeful mes amis … it is hopeful and to Fat Albert Gore I say OINK OINK you pig!

    you talk of conflict of interest; did you know that george h w bush makes far more from his consulting work with the saudis than he ever did as president? see what I mean?

  33. Gore is not “creating a demand for a niche product”…he’s hyping a non-existent crisis to line his own pockets with a non-existent good (i.e. carbon credits). He’s a snake oil salesman of the worst kind. Worse, he does it under the guise of a saviour…..
    He should be investigated by the SEC.

  34. No, it’s actually worse than that, jcl. He isn’t only selling snake oil but working hard to make sure that we have no choice (through laws and government regulation) but to buy his fake product. I would agree with you curious_george if I had the choice of whether or not I want my taxes, consumer dollars, business capital, etc. to go towards trading carbon credits. I’m not going to have that choice so it isn’t a free market situation and, hence, not capitalism.
    Follow the big supporters of this scam and you will see where their investments lead – all stand to make big money off of what they claim is anthropogenic climate change.

    the goracle is practicing capitalism. ‘creating’ a demand is synonymous with filling a need for some superfluous good or service. the saviour part is simply borrowed from corporate marketing shills reinforcing the perceived ‘need’.

  36. A true Entrepreneur, and an honest human being with integrity, does not create demand, they recognize a need and seek to fill that need. That way, in their own enlightened self interest, they act for the betterment of mankind.
    Mr. Gore, or perhaps more accurately Chairman Mo, seeks to destroy our civilization while enriching themselves. In my books, a truly nefarious activity.
    However, I must say that I am very appreciative of this opportunity to engage in a [little] debate on this page. Mr. Gore refuses to debate anyone. Reminds me a lot of when I was kid when I said I had a super blaster ray gun but when my friends asked to see it, I said they couldn’t but should trust me.

  37. curious george does have a point. There are quickbuck artists practising capitalism and scams played without guv$ etcetc., and favoritism in lobbying, and demented buros, andandand..
    But, gores skam goes way beyond lining-your-pocket and into an intl type conspiracy. Public schools in parts of the U.S.(WashState, I think) have texts for kids with the koolaid legislated in it!!!

  39. Check out the CCX (Chicago Climate Exchange) Carbon Financial Instruments are now trading at .15c tonne! One year ago it was over $1.00 tonne and in May 2008 it was over $7.00 tonne. The carbon market is starting to implode as the scam/hoax is being uncovered. The best part is that Al Gore is part owner of CCX!!
    On a side note,here in BC the Campbell Govt. is compelling the BC School Districts to buy Carbon Offsets @$25.00 per tonne using our property tax dollars while at the same time cutting Govt.funding. Our District expects to have to spend $60,000.00 so i told them to buy them from CCX and they will get 400,000 tonnes!! However Campbell will not allow this they have to be bought at $25.00 per tonne from Liberal approved scources.
